A place for me. Remember the address? Think of Modern Method Records! When I lived in Natick, I went to this store due to proximity; but whilst in university I frequented The Garage almost daily. Slowly in the 1990s vinyl succumbed to CD. The offerings became less and less. Japanese anime, clothing, and plastic bobble heads became the norm. Virgin and Tower also died a slow cancerous death. Newbury, is like an old friend. Meh. Still a decent store, the spirit is still there even though the Do It Yourself flavor, feeling, and attitude of Let Them Eat Jellybeans is not.

The class was $60 and each person made two large candles. Normal candles from the shop are $32 each so this is a great deal to get a custom scented candle. The candles were ready for pickup next day and I've enjoyed burning them at home. They also have a great collection of premade candles with even more scents. We stumbled upon Boston General Store & it's literally awesome! This store is a great place to go to get unique gifts for others, or for yourself, who don't really need anything but nice to have. I loved the stationary goods section and was ecstatic to find they had mechanical pencils with 2.0 mm lead! This was my favorite lead to write with growing up but I was never able to find them in the U.S. (I would bring these pencils back from Asia). So, it was very nostalgic for me when I saw them & wrote on the notepad with it! I didn't end up purchasing it because I found $12 to be quite steep for one singular pencil that I have no use for currently BUT I do see myself coming back for it haha. They also had a bunch of different home essentials like soaps, honey, & jams here, which I found to be pretty cool & unique. I would definitely come back again to grab some pens & to find gifts! They support local authors and even from time to time musicians. I have performed here a couple of times and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional. Their great event room is a multi-purpose section of the store with a seating capacity of maybe 45-50, give or take. Keep your eyes open for events here! I am still disappointed in the value of the old clothes and the new- as they're all far too expensive for the condition they're in.. and the new are more expensive then when they're new. I know your business has to make money, but the whole point of a hand me down store is to make sure your items are affordable. Unfortunately, I probably won't be back until prices lower because I just can't afford the prices. I've read many wonderful reviews on here and maybe it's good for some and then not so good for others. The owner was so funny and sweet and she helped us tremendously through the store and out. Something to note; I had my stroller, so I just want to point out this establishment is not wheelchair assessable from the front of the store. Not sure about the back though.
