I've done enough projects to know better than what youre about to read. I noticed a tv ad speaking about Yankee Home and some upgrades they are offering for Dec. Decided to call the number, received a female operator ; she proceeded to state YH would come to my home and provide a quote (virtually) bc I would rather stay safe. As the call is going well she states my wife must be present ; I then stated my wife will have nothing to do with this project ; As she continually insisted, I eventually said 'forget it' I'll go somewhere else. Do these people not understand they can't force my wife to be present at a &*^% quote review ; they're out of their minds. On top of that, I'm not married. The roofers did an excellent job putting beautiful new shingles on moldy, warped plywood. The crew had everything done in one day accept the clean-up., that took a few days. I do feel comforted, however, knowing I paid for all new plywood that probably went on somebody else's roof. Way over priced. WAY. Every time I drive up my driveway, all I can see is my wavy roof. read more

It's one thing to use a high pressure sales in a showroom or place of business. But it is inappropriate for the salesman to refuse to take no for an answer when he is sitting at your kitchen table and you are a single woman alone in the house. I said I would like to think about it before applying for credit or agreeing to the project for more that 45 minutes. I had to start bringing up that my father (who is dead btw) needed to approve big expenses. Then the guy still wouldn't take no for an answer and asked what my dad would know, where he worked, and where he lived. He was getting visibly upset that I kept saying no. Very alarming. Finally I said "it's 9pm, I can't agree to anything this late at night" and he left. I locked all my doors as soon as he walked out the door. All I wanted was a general estimate, not a THREE HOUR presentation. I know I'm going to be getting dozens of calls now :( read more

I would not recommend Yankee Home Improvement to anyone. They use high pressure sales tactics and mark up their services to ridiculous levels. I gave them my business because it was the middle January 2021, and I had a serious leak from an old tub that needed to be addressed immediately. Yankee Home Improvement was very eager to tell me how they could do a complete remodel of the tub, with demo, in one day. They quoted me just shy of $16,000, which also included replacing the bathroom window. I knew that the entire job should have cost around $8,000 or less but I wanted the convenience of one-day service. I figured that was where the intense mark-up came into play. I was wrong. Yankee Home Improvement failed to deliver from the moment I signed the contract. They assigned some idiot who called himself a project manager and sent out two installation technicians who were still clearly learning the business. The project was completed in a half-ass manner two days later. They did a marginal job at best and damaged tiles outside of the bath/shower area. The technician actually glued back a broken tile with silicon and said that was the best that he could do. They caused water to leak inside of the wall by forcing things into place during the installation. This was confirmed by the plumber who had to come back out three days later. He told me that there was nothing wrong with how the plumbing was installed, the leak was a direct result of the installation. On top of all of that, the shower doors were not properly installed. It took multiple technicians, on multiple trips, to finally fix that problem. They did ultimately fix the broken tile that had been glued back onto the wall in a really pathetic manner, but this was only done after several phone conversations and an admission from one of their senior people that the broken tile should not have been handled in the way that it was. I paid premium money for a third-rate experience. read more

STAY AWAY! TERRIBLE! My shower has been leaking since October when it was installed. They have sent out three service people who can't figure it out. When they do show up they are late and don't bother to call. Was supposed to have a service tech this morning and they didn't even call to say the appointment was cancelled. My wife called for an estimate for roof. She was asked over the phone if she was allowed to make financial decisions for the household. She told them yes and an appointment was made fir the following week. They called 2 days latter to confirm the appointment and asked the same question. They called yet again the day before to confirm and asked her for the third time. I was unaware of this. She works nights and I work days as a self employed person and couldn't be present for the estimate. The salesman arrived and asked her if her husband was going to be coming. She said no and he said he wouldn't be able to help her. Other than taking a couple of pictures, they never got back to us. It was all over in less than 10 minutes. I would never ever recommend this company period!!!!! Very unprofessional and rude. read more

Went through two interviews to get an estimate on gutters! No communication between the workforce and office person. Ended up waiting them to show up. Finally, I called and they had cancelled the appointment without telling me! Someone is asleep at the wheel! Do not waste your time. read more

I cannot attest to the work that this company does, only to the sales visit I experienced. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone that doesn't have two and a half hours to sit and listen to a sales pitch. The visit went much longer than it needed to, and the sales tactics were unbearable. At the beginning of the visit we explained what we were looking for and that we were not going to make a decision that day, however, the rep seemed to have his own agenda and timeline without a thought to our request. When our daughter started getting whiney (about an hour and a half in) and one of us had to leave the room, it did not phase the rep and he kept going. However, he would not let us make any decisions on our own, such as the end survey (which is not really a survey) - he required that we both be available even when one was attending to our daughter. After I had said that the visit was over, he still had to make one more phone call and make one more deal offer. I appreciate the product and the "deals" dropped the price to where we needed it to be - but the sales tactics of making us listen to two hours about how great your company is, and then wheedling us with 30 more minutes of amazing "deals" and pushing us to make a decision when we had made it clear we still wanted to see what other companies would offer us, guaranteed that we do not want to give your company any of our money by hiring you. You shouldn't try to bully people into selecting your company; you should rely on your product to make it easy to choose you once reviewing all options. And the presentation should be about your product and practices - which should never take two hours to explain. If it takes you that long, then you are doing it wrong. read more

We had an 11 a.m. appt. this morning (10/8/19) and when no one showed up or called by 11:45, I called the company and was told the salesman was supposed to be here but they didn't know where he was!!!! I spoke to the sales director and although he was apologetic and polite we decided to pass on this company. If they couldn't make the appointment, no telling what else could go wrong. I was very pleased with the sales consultant Nate. He want me to sign a contract right then and there. But I said no as I was still waiting on other estimates from other companies. It wasn't a day later that the phone calls began. Since April 4 I have received 12 calls. After the 3rd day I blocked their number but the calls still show up on my caller ID. I have called them four times, asking them not to call anymore (twice today 4/16) because I am going with another company. Would not recommend them to anyone read more

Yankee gave me an estimate (high-pressure sales pitch, actually) for a total of seven vinyl replacement windows. Proposed to do the job for $10,500, which was more than DOUBLE the estimate received from many other window contractors for the same job! On the date I was first scheduled to meet with this company, they called minutes before the appointment to cancel, promising they would give me a free gift card for the inconvenience of rescheduling. That was Lie #1 in a pattern of lies and broken promises from Yankee Home. They returned to my home days later, but did not give me the gift card that they promised. Three people showed up at my home in two separate cars, but one stayed outside and never came in, inexplicably. I then was forced to endure a 2+ hour high-pressure sales pitch for the ugliest, most expensive replacement windows I have ever seen. The sales manager went on and on and on about how wonderful and energy efficient HIS windows were compared to his competitors, all the time spewing lie after lie, such as his claim that 70% of a home's heat is lost through the windows (it's more like 18%). The bottom line is that this company did NOT show up on the original date of the appointment, did NOT deliver on it's promise to compensate me for the inconvenience of rescheduling, is NOT trustworthy and will say or promise ANYTHING to convince you to buy their $1000 ugly replacement windows. Do not waste your time with Yankee Home Improvement unless you want to overpay for replacement windows with thick frames and ugly welds. read more

Commenting on my post 9 months later, the business owner disputed my review (which is expected since we were VERY dissatisfied with their work)....The shower in question leaked, was clearly leaking during your tech visits - there is an open hole where water leaks visibly, to the naked eye, so there was no need for a "toilet paper" test, so I am not sure why you are saying it was done. That is a lie. You did come to the house several times, attempting to correct the problem (so I apologize for saying nothing was done), but the issue remains: a mistake was made, it was confirmed by Yankee and they came back as many times as I said they did because they could not rectify the issue and stop the leaking and that was clear. The company offered my mom money to halt all complaints. Perhaps since that money covered half the price of the shower you feel I should just say that everything is great now, but that wouldn't be an ho est review. Yes, my sister who lives with my mom, uses that shower as does my brother. So it isn't a guest shower but a family shower. It is a real shame that this happened and I support all local businesses, especially in these hard times (the coronavirus was not an issue when I posted my review 9 months ago). That said, I hope you have improved your service and how you handle issues when you truly make a mistake, which can happen to any business. Mentioning all the good things you have done for the community doesn't take away from how you handled the situation for my mom, and lying about what was done is just plain surprising. I want all small businesses to stay afloat but your poor workmanship in her specific case was not something I'd be proud of. It is unfair for you to comment 9 months later and say my review is hurtful during these hard times when better service should have been provided upfront. The workers were friendly but when a mistake and damage was found on my job, getting a call back from Tim or Joe was like pulling teeth. They eventually sent back the guy who said the repair needed was not his specialty...I would definitely NOT recommend this company. Save your money and get service elsewhere. Update.....previous all correct but need to add cut thru our dish wire and didn't say anything and installed what looks like a commercial solar roof fan on the north side of our home. The picture we were showed looks like all I see on the web but I can't even find a photo there of what I got. Also, the installers spoke no english and understood less!! No supervisor on location from yankee or the subcontractor they used to do the job until a call was made and then someone showed up 3 hours later. The dumpster removal was also a nightmare with the driver going 4 feet off our driveway into 50 year old pjm rhododendrons and half a dog wood tree. Very unprofessional and uncaring. read more

I wouldn't usually do this especially to this company a company which I have had to successful jobs with but we are highly upset with this last job. My husband entered a contest on Yankee Home's website for a bathroom remodel. The company saw this and contacted my husband and asked if they could come out a take a look at what we wanted to remodel. My husband agreed and we met with a young lady who looked at the bathroom, used some kind of machine and preceded to tell us we had water behind 2 walls and under our sunk in tub which probably resulted in water damage and mold. Upon hearing that and having grandchildren in our home we agreed to have the tub replaced with a new shower. The company then sent 2 workers out who pulled out the tub, installed a shower and tiled 1 and 1/2 walls left a hole in my bathroom floor and a hole in the side wall. They had me sign a paper stating the project was done. I called the company twice asking for someone to come back out and speak with us but was just sent the 2 workers to place a piece of plywood on the floor and a board to cover the wall and that was the last of the project. We had another contractor come in and remove a piece of the backer board and he preceded to tell us there was no water damage and no mold behind or under the tub. So I now have a 20.000.00 bill that needs to be paid and I need to hire another contractor to finish the rest of what was left. Please be careful entering any kind of contest as you will not be sure what you will end up with. While we are happy with our new windows, the customer service left us feeling very unhappy. There were delays, a window made the wrong size. The salesman who vowed to be with us through the whole project disappeared after our initial meeting/purchase. He did leave us a voice mail a few weeks later just to make sure we were aware they sold doors and windows. Really? We purchased 16 windows from him. When I called about the wrong size window, the project manager told me the manufacturer made the wrong size window. I asked another question and he raised his voice to me saying I was asking him questions about something he didn't know anything about. I told him do not raise your voice to me. I thought it was very inappropriate. But wait how did he know the manufacturer made the wrong size ? Hmm They can't be trusted, the owner doesn't take customer calls. Beware!! Oh yeah, we had some roofing done too and we picked up shingles, tar paper and nails from our yard. Epic Fail read more

Should be careful about this company. Have used them in the past and was satisfied, but they just walked away from our latest project and never came back to finish a sunroom. Room was started on April 15th and was promised to be done in 2 weeks time. Now in the month of July and still not complete; and haven't heard from anyone in over a month. We were approached by this company via door-to-door solicitation. It is my boyfriend's home and I was not in at the time. He scheduled an appointment for them to come the following week on a Wed. at 6:00 pm. We were interested in walkout basement door replacement and possibly shower stall replacement. The day before the Appt., he received a call to confirm and ask a couple of required pre-appt. questions. The evening of the appt, it got to be 6:30 and no sales person. Rec'd a call from a sales manager(?) to say the sales rep was still tied up at the previous appt. Offered 7% off the cost of any work we might have done and a $25 Home Depot or Walmart giftcard for the inconvenience. OK. Re-scheduled to the following Monday. I rec'd a call on Sat. to confirm the appt. and was asked to answer a few questions. We already did this. I was at work and asked her to call me after 5:00. No call. Txt'd me on Sunday at 6:00 pm asking me to call her (Cecile) to - again! - confirm the appt on Mon. I replied - yes, got it - confirmed for 6:00 pm. Was in the middle of dinner, so I didn't call her. 6:00 on Monday rolls around - no sales rep. Hearing nothing from anyone, at 6:30, my boyfriend called to see what was going on. Sales mngr said "we didn't call back to confirm" and didn't answer the pre-requisite questions!!! How many times does this company need to confirm appts?? Needless to say, if they can't even get through the appt. process efficiently, I wasn't holding out much hope for satisfactory work. So that was 2 evenings we put on hold and re-arranged schedules for a no-show. Very poor first impression and they lost the sale before they even showed up. I have been in outside sales for 17 years. When you are running late, it takes seconds to call and explain. And you don't need to confirm appts. 3 times beforehand. It's too bad, because overall, they had pretty good reviews. However, there were also some bad reviews. But we'll never find out how good (or bad) a company they are because they can't seem to manage their appointment process! read more
