With my birthday and our anniversary coming up next week, Gord and I celebrated tonight on the Yankee Lady. Some of our friends joined us. It was a great night for a cruise ... a bit cool and breezy. The cruise was from 8pm to 11pm and went in and around the Toronto Islands. When we boarded, we were given a card ... ours was silver. When the colour is called, you head for supper. Ours was called last. The pasta ran out just after the only vegetarian on board (one of my friends) got some and some in our party (and those after us) didn't get any. It was good but cool.

I got the privilege of taking a lunch boat cruise today courtesy of my mom for my birthday because I've always wanted to experience it. To my surprise I thought it would have been a bit better. I thought I would have seen a bit more then the usual center island while the boat traveled along. The whole cruise was about 2 hours which included a buffet style lunch. The lunch included the following: - chicken kebobs ( not much flavour) - beef kebobs ( not much flavour and cooked medium rare so it was a bit chewy) - veggie kebobs (which you only got if you were vegetarian) - salad - bean salad - pita ( which you had to take the whole round (wouls have been better if they were cut into quarters) - rice (plain) - potatoes (tasteless) I mean spices don't cost that much..would it have killed their budget if they had added more salt or garlic or pepper, I mean anything so it wasn't so bland. For the amount of money a person pays it could have been a bit better. The experience itself was pretty relaxing, the music inside was a tad to loud. Would I do it again? Maybe with a different company.

Another "venue" I'm having mixed feelings about. For the dinner portion I would give it a solid 3 stars, but for the experience and friendliness of the staff a very good 4 star cruise. Being my first dinner cruise here in Toronto, I don't have anything to compare this experience with, I was there using my Groupon on a public dinner cruise night that was part of the Tall Ships Festival. The Tall Ships did not really play a part in the experience, we drifted past them while they were anchored to the harbor that was it. Seating arrangements were more focused on larger groups, and my friend and I had to share a table for four with another couple, and it was like that for all couples. So I would suggest going in a group of 4, unless you like having your whole conversation overheard. I've attached a picture of my BBQ buffet which really was not that impressive and I was expecting a bit better quality of food. And dessert which happened a long time after dinner ended was lots of fruit, a few chocolate items and small pastries if I remember correctly. There was an endless supply of coffee and tea all evening with a cash bar. I suggest no one should come here for the food. They separate the cruise by 5 groups and call them up for dinner, I'm glad my colour was second and we went as soon as we were called to avoid the long lineup that ensued. There was a dance floor with a mix of top 40 and older favourites, but not a lot of people opted to go dancing and spent most of the time outdoors on either the "roof" deck or the downstairs one. I suggest bringing a sweater as it does get cold and windy. Both me and my friend agreed that spending $60 or however much the ticket was for this experience is not worth it and we were both glad for our $25 Groupons! I will be going for one more Yankee Lady cruise for a lunch buffet as part of the Air Show in September and will have another review up for that!

Great looking yachts. Friendly staff. Tasty food. Was on a wedding this past summer and I had a blast.

However, the set-up (name cards/place settings/centerpieces) was at a glacial pace such that there was no time for wedding helpers to verify all hundreds of name cards were placed at the correct seats by M&O staff. A second consequence was that guests were unable to mingle in the reception hall any earlier despite the ceremony having ended early, and some guests were forced to wait outside despite the cold. Jordan attempted to offer alternatives, but the set up staff did not speed up the set up process, and guests continued to wait outside the reception hall in a standing room only lobby area (and expressed frustration about that). Name cards were swapped/the opposite of what the bride outlined in the seating chart, so that at long rectangular tables a husband/wife were sitting at opposite ends. The staff potentially were not from M&O (potentially outsourced from a different company) but some did not clarify seating, and as a result, mixed up all the food orders. Some individual waitstaff were quite good about verifying name card placements but others did not verify them at all. Hopefully no one had a severe allergic reaction that night, as the seating chart from the bride and the reality of where names were placed were completely different for some tables. M&O also took boxes of glasses filled with water one by one to set up (instead of wheeling out several carts which would have expedited the process) and set everything up extremely slowly. Staff also served only 2 plates at a time, with about 6-8 people being served at a time. At a large wedding, this was disastrous because it took more than 40 minutes for them to serve the main course to everyone. This threw off the whole schedule of speeches so in the end we were more than an hour behind schedule. They also expressed a preference for people to be seated while the courses were being served due to the tight space (the tables were quite close together because the venue should not have allowed so many guests in that particular hall/room), which is a tad unreasonable at a wedding with several hundred people. In the end, guests couldn't enjoy the photo booth nor mingle as freely, and the schedule was extremely behind because speeches couldn't go on while people were in the middle of being served. Not sure if M&O outsourced their waitstaff to a 3rd party company that night, but would not recommend to anyone unfortunately despite the food tasting good.

But as a guest, I found the food to be delicious and beautifully presented! The servers at the wedding were attentive, friendly, and very professional. After that, we received limited service and very poor quality plans by my standards. The vendor recommendations were not suitable for us and didn't meet our needs - I ended up finding all the vendors on my own. She provides no financial management support and was not involved in a single vendor negotiation or saved us any money. The day of plan was done poorly with typos, names wrong, etc. I had to redo the full day-of-plan and I sent it to her in which she refused to accept. I sent my schedule to the other vendors, briefed them, and followed up well in advance. Let's Party Consultants only followed up through a late night voice mail to some of my vendors and not to others. On the day of the wedding, my caterer, my friends and my husband couldn't find her for an hour after she was to arrive and she jetted out of there before the wedding was over (and by me counting straight hours - before our contract was up). I literally saw her for 5 minutes during my wedding. She also demanded a guest meal versus a vendor meal. She confused the DJ by giving him the wrong plan (her version which was inaccurate). I was so fearful of her performance that I actually got my friend to be the day-of-coordinators. The entire process left me frustrated and angry - my family urged me to fire her on many occasions - but she demanded payment upfront and I decided to try to make it work since I already paid. Other vendors who saw her name as my wedding planner gave me a warning based on their past experiences with her. By the way, she would tell you that full payment upfront is the standard. It is NOT TRUE - most of the wedding planners do not require this. It has been years since my wedding and I still wish that I hired someone else. As an aside, she did bring an assistant whom I liked a lot - Leena was smart enough to know that me and her were just not working and had the assistant be the interface. Perhaps, our experience would have been very different if we dealt with her instead of Leena. Why am I writing this now? My review was triggered by a friend who was so upset over her wedding planner - and guess what - it turned out to be Leena too. I feel like I need to do my part before more people feel their wedding experience is being "ruined" by their planner.

She was extremely kind and amicable until I deposited my full payment into their bank. The minute I made payment (which was requested prior to the event); she started becoming very rude and pushy and was not accommodating to my availability during my wedding week. I specifically walked her to the venue and clearly explained what was critical for me. On top of that, I also sent a very detailed email with everything that needed to get done. She agreed to match all deliverables discussed but what was provided to me was worth half the money charged and nothing close to what was promised. Let's party consultants is run by a bunch of rude, money minded idiots who don't care to make anyone's wedding a special event. Their work is of poor quality and they are definitely not the people to rely on to make your wedding easy. Finally, they have very poor communication on what timing is needed from their team to execute the plan. They didn't clearly inform me when a full payment had to be made until the very end and threatened to not show up for the decor until the night prior to my event despite having accepted full payment because I was unable to send a signed copy of their contract and had written to them on 2 separate occasions advising that I fully accept terms and conditions however don't have access to a printer to send them a signed copy. I would never recommend them to anyone !
