With my birthday and our anniversary coming up next week, Gord and I celebrated tonight on the Yankee Lady. Some of our friends joined us. It was a great night for a cruise ... a bit cool and breezy. The cruise was from 8pm to 11pm and went in and around the Toronto Islands. When we boarded, we were given a card ... ours was silver. When the colour is called, you head for supper. Ours was called last. The pasta ran out just after the only vegetarian on board (one of my friends) got some and some in our party (and those after us) didn't get any. It was good but cool.

I got the privilege of taking a lunch boat cruise today courtesy of my mom for my birthday because I've always wanted to experience it. To my surprise I thought it would have been a bit better. I thought I would have seen a bit more then the usual center island while the boat traveled along. The whole cruise was about 2 hours which included a buffet style lunch. The lunch included the following: - chicken kebobs ( not much flavour) - beef kebobs ( not much flavour and cooked medium rare so it was a bit chewy) - veggie kebobs (which you only got if you were vegetarian) - salad - bean salad - pita ( which you had to take the whole round (wouls have been better if they were cut into quarters) - rice (plain) - potatoes (tasteless) I mean spices don't cost that much..would it have killed their budget if they had added more salt or garlic or pepper, I mean anything so it wasn't so bland. For the amount of money a person pays it could have been a bit better. The experience itself was pretty relaxing, the music inside was a tad to loud. Would I do it again? Maybe with a different company.

Another "venue" I'm having mixed feelings about. For the dinner portion I would give it a solid 3 stars, but for the experience and friendliness of the staff a very good 4 star cruise. Being my first dinner cruise here in Toronto, I don't have anything to compare this experience with, I was there using my Groupon on a public dinner cruise night that was part of the Tall Ships Festival. The Tall Ships did not really play a part in the experience, we drifted past them while they were anchored to the harbor that was it. Seating arrangements were more focused on larger groups, and my friend and I had to share a table for four with another couple, and it was like that for all couples. So I would suggest going in a group of 4, unless you like having your whole conversation overheard. I've attached a picture of my BBQ buffet which really was not that impressive and I was expecting a bit better quality of food. And dessert which happened a long time after dinner ended was lots of fruit, a few chocolate items and small pastries if I remember correctly. There was an endless supply of coffee and tea all evening with a cash bar. I suggest no one should come here for the food. They separate the cruise by 5 groups and call them up for dinner, I'm glad my colour was second and we went as soon as we were called to avoid the long lineup that ensued. There was a dance floor with a mix of top 40 and older favourites, but not a lot of people opted to go dancing and spent most of the time outdoors on either the "roof" deck or the downstairs one. I suggest bringing a sweater as it does get cold and windy. Both me and my friend agreed that spending $60 or however much the ticket was for this experience is not worth it and we were both glad for our $25 Groupons! I will be going for one more Yankee Lady cruise for a lunch buffet as part of the Air Show in September and will have another review up for that!

We went for the Vegan Boat Cruise organized here and it was great…read more The boat has three decks, so theoretically there is plenty of room to move around but I guess for the vegan fest, they overfilled (at least it looked like) the boat and it was quite cramped. The top deck is from where you get all the views. The cruise was of about 4 hours and it moved around from the dock to the Toronto Islands (mostly Center Island) and then, for about 1.5 hours, just circled in the Inner Harbour. It views are absolutely amazing once it's dark and the downtown lights come out. The event itself was great. It was an all-vegan fest and plenty of vendors showcasing their business - food as well as non-food. Many amazing food items and we had a great time. The DJ on the top deck was great and we had a great party too. Absolutely recommended.

I lost the tickets I had printed (recently moved, so papers a mess right now). On Friday I tried calling to make sure we wouldn't have a problem. No answer. The office closes at 5 pm and closed on weekends. But there's no Q&A's section to the website which would be really helpful considering you're closed on the weekends and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have that. Anyways I didn't mention anything to my parents and went anyways. I took the confirmation email I had received. I didn't need it. They go by a list a reservation list. So if you're ever in the same boat (haha get it? Boat!), don't worry!!! I liked that they were on time! We lined up and got on the boat, quickly. And left the dock at 7:30 exactly. The seating is very cramped and uncomfortable. You're literally on top of the people next to you. My bf and dad had to move their chairs to the corner of the table to make more room for us. Second, the bar only carries water and pop for non alcoholic beverages. Not all adults drink but that doesn't mean that when out for a meal they wouldn't enjoy a nice punch or beverage other than coke or cranberry juice. Anyways, that was annoying for me! The food was okay. Salad, steamed vegetables, plain rice, baked chicken and salmon. Everything was oaky, nothing special. The salmon was delicious. We all enjoyed that. Dessert was brought to the table. Slices of chocolate cake and a dates cookie pie thing, I don't know what it was. I mean in a way it's good the dessert wasn't good cause I didn't end up stuffing my face with sugary goodness that I went prepared to do! Coffee was available but it wasn't announced and it was only on the upper dinning room. We didn't know until we were heading upto the top deck. The best part was the views. I really enjoyed the concept of dancing under the stars and having the city views. It was romantic and I enjoyed it. The "dj" was okay, there's a lot of different types of people to please and he did his best. I'm happy we went and especially happy I got it with a coupon! Or else I'd be annoyed. Don't get me wrong I still spent a pretty penny on it, for 4 of us after taxes and gratuity it still was a little more than $200. Plus $20 parking and cash bar. (I went on mariposa cruise a few years ago and the food was better and more choices but I believe the regular tickets were more)

I tried to had a relaxing time at the Ontario Place on a Sunday and Saturday afternoon, a picnic with friends... what I got instead? overwhelming and throbbing beats from Stella Borealis that seemed to be moored in front of Trillium Park in the Ontario Place for a more than an hour not going absolutely anywhere. next weekend the same sh%#. seriously, this boat is suppose to cruise around Toronto Islands, yet it spends more than an our around the Ontario Place two weekends in a row. till I've read these reviews I thought honestly nobody on board cares about where they go as long as they have music and booze, and I wanted to suggest going as far from the waterline as possible (like middle of Ontario lake seriously, to spare all beach/park goers, not to mention just Toronto or Toronto Islands residents ears). can the management of the company consider how obnoxious to so many people their enterprise is? Can they play the music not so loud, or make the boat go farther away from he shore? or have it actually moving along instead being moored at the same place for more than an hour? Stella Borealis inflicts torture, it ruins experience for people who live in the city, don't own cottages and just have nowhere else to go but to the lake to cool off. I used to think jet ski were loud, but comparing to Stella Borealis music, jet ski engine sound is like a whisper. I mean it.

Came for an event June 15th 2024 and was having a good time until things took a turn for the worst…read more I was with a group of 5 people including my girlfriend. After some time she began feeling sick like she needed to throw up and was sent to the main floor to throw up off the side of the boat. I was with her when our friend hosting the event told her to go to the washroom to throw up. As she needed to go down some more stairs my friend said I should go as well and make sure she was good which I did. Just in case she was to trip or fall down the stairs I helped her into the bathroom and then to the stall where there was an out of service toilet in the middle. As the two other stalls were occupied it was the only option and I moved the trash bin out of the way for her and held her as she was vomiting. While doing this a woman grabbed me out of the stall and told me to "GET OUT" aggressively. I dismissed her and was only focused on my girlfriend. The female then placed herself between us and began forcing me out of the bathroom by walking into me. Once we got to the stairs my girlfriend was trying to hold this female and tell her to stop. She decided to put her hand around my throat and choke me while I was trying to grab my girlfriend's hand. As this is happening a security guard came down the stairs and grabbed my hair pulling my whole head back. I stood my ground for about 10 seconds before turning around and realizing it was security where I then stopped resisting and was escorted upstairs. In the end I was told I was being aggressive to the female who was A STAFF MEMBER the whole time. After the event a random girl said that I put hands on the other woman (she wasn't even there). Another staff member as well as the girls in the washroom stalls said I was being aggressive with her even though they were in the stalls the whole time. My hands never went up once but because I am a man I was told that I was the one who was being threatening. There were a million ways this could have been handled better and the fact that I was chocked and had my head pulled without consequences for those involved because the other females defended the staff member is DISGRACEFUL. She is still on the boat go at your own risk.
