We could not have asked for a better venue for our wedding. Sarah, Paula and Gleb were with us from the very beginning in working with us to ensure everything we wanted for our wedding was possible. They were always incredibly responsive and open to any concerns or questions we had. They were also super detail-oriented and able to offer ideas and I sights to ensure our event was one-of-a kind. We had a a few dietary restirictions and accessibility needs for our guests and every single accomodation was met with compassion and support. The Eglinton Grand is located along Eglinton near Avenue Rd. It previously was a movie theatre that is now an event venue. The venue can hold events for a medium sized wedding (over 100+ attendees). It does have that old school kind of vibe where you are able to customize the venue to your liking based on the decor you use. I recently attended a wedding reception here and the service and food were good. Servers were mindful of when water needed to be refilled and when plates needed to be taken away. The food came out hot which was a bonus. The cocktail hour was up on the mezzanine level which was a bit small for the 100+ guests the bride and groom had but it made for a great grand reveal of the reception area below. Bar service took a while at times due to the amount of people. The only issues I see with this venue is that it is not accessible. There are several flights of stairs and no elevator. This may be a problem if you have attendees to your events that are not able to navigate stairs. The bathrooms also got a bit dirty as the event went on. Parking also is not included but there is a paid Green P parking lot close by. Overall, a decent venue for events in the midtown Toronto area. read more

The second my husband and I came to tour The Eglinton Grand for our wedding we fell in love with the venue. EG offers special touches that no other venue can. You can really personalize your event. All our guests cannot stop talking about it! The staff are responsive, professional and extremely helpful. The food and hors d'oeuvres were excellent - even the fresh popcorn during cocktail hour. EG provides a great value package and can work with your budget. EG works with their preferred vendors which makes it feel like a one stop shop, and I would also recommend them. Even down to them coordinating with our entertainment and outside vendors was a breeze. Overall, EG provided a stress-free wedding planning experience for us, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Us, the bridal party and the guests all felt like movie stars. We were here for our friends' wedding ceremony and reception. It was really beautiful. The lighting, seating and ambience for the ceremony was just so lovely. Mildly steep stairs getting up there, but it was a really amazing ceremony. When it came to the reception, it didn't change in quality, it was massive. The bartenders were really nice and I did manage to stump one of them with a drink, but ended up creating a trendy drink for the night (Malibu Sunset - Malibu, Orange Juice, Grenadine) it was delicious. The wait staff were really friendly too, at one point I believe the owner or manager came around to ask about our food. Which was amazing. We've attended many of our friend's kid's weddings and we never asked this many questions about theirs." - Auntie after asking a million questions about our wedding. "The food was actually so good! The steak was number 1 but the chicken was surprisingly tender!" - Relatives who've had bad experiences with Western-style banquet food. "The venue is so unique and beautiful. The ceilings are so high!" - My dad-in-law at the rehearsal. So if you're looking for a place with wow factor, good food, and smooth operations, Eglinton Grand all the way. Let's get into more details. Wow Factor: You can't find another place like this in Toronto. The layout, the history, the glam. There are a million similar banquet halls but EG is something else. There is so much character. Even from the way the cocktail area is on a balcony that overlooks reception area, and how you can have the curtains draw back dramatically to have your guests watch your first dance from above. And the place practically comes decorated, so we didn't really have to do anything for decor. More importantly, it's only one space so you don't have to share with anyone, or have any uninvited guests sneaking in. All this for a very REASONABLE price, compared to other specialty venues in the area. Good Food: Yes, judgey Asian relatives were actually impressed with the Western style food here. Trust, it's good. We upgraded to include the Alberta Striploin in the menu. A+ choice, will get married again for that steak. On top of that, the bar was quick and the drinks weren't watered down. Smooth Operations: Future brides and grooms, it is so, so, SO important to find a place with decent management. The number of horror stories I've heard of unresponsive management after taking your money are way too high. I've heard of staff dropping cakes and blaming guests. I've heard of broken promises and not honouring contracts. You will never ever have to worry about that with EG. From the initial meeting to the day of, to the follow up, the staff were AMAZING. Teresa, Sarah, and our venue coordinator Ari, made the process as painless as possible. They were always quick to respond, always kept us in the loop, and we never had any surprises. I've only heard good things from our guests so I know for sure things went without a hitch. My groomsmen said the doorman, Mark, was the MVP for the night. Never ceases to amaze me that Toronto has unbelievable places like Eglinton Grand. Attended a wedding here recently and I was totally blown away...gorgeous venue that is perfect for a wedding. It also has a really nice balcony floor for cocktail reception which was quite spacious. We had the traditional Chinese banquet 10 course meal catered by Rovey Chinese Catering. The food was outstanding. Every course was really well prepared especially the roasted pork, stuffed crab claws and the shrimps & scallops. Check them out on IG. The staff were very efficient and professional. Reception level and washrooms on main floor, bar area on upper level and seated dining and stage on lower level opposite reception but you need to use stairs up and down to get there. Unsure of elevators. The did a vegan meal for me but it was not gluten free and they did not offer me any dessert as the group dessert was cheesecake. The Eglinton Grand provided my wife and I exceptional service as we navigated the complexities of hosting a wedding mid-pandemic. Upon our first visit to the venue we immediately fell in love with the atmosphere of the historic cinema. With my wife and I both being lovers of film and theatre, the space was a perfect representation of us. Having a cinema screen playing old black and white movies throughout our dinner, with a popcorn machine popping away as our guests danced the night away... it was a dream come true. We have heard from countless of our guests that it was the BEST wedding they had ever been to. The venue played a crucial role in that accomplishment. Throughout the planning process our event coordinator Rebecca was always extremely attentive and helpful. The venue's food was delectable enough to keep an entire Italian family's palette happy - an accomplishment no doubt. From salad to dessert everything served was delicious. Some of our vegetarian guests mentioned to us that their plates were some of the best vegetarian options they've ever had at an event. Having a ceremony room right next door was such a great addition for us as well - less travel time allowed for more enjoyment time. The addition of having a parking lot (green P) with a city discount, for our guests right next to venue, was the cherry on top. The Eglinton Grand helped bring our wedding vision to life. Beautiful place for a wedding. This old theater is rejuvenated to its former glory plus some sparkle and embellishments. Be prepared for a grand night of dancing and celebrating the bride and groom in style! We attended a wedding in January 2015 at the eglinton grand. They had two ceremonies, one was traditional indian and the other canadian themed. The old theater is gorgeous and full of ambiance. I love how they have the wedding couples name listed on the exterior building theater sign which was previously used to list movies when the facility was as a traditional theater. Complaint #1: The ladies bathroom was freezing cold. I noticed this same cold potty problem when I attended a chinese wedding in 2010 at the eglinton Complaint#2: Lack of seating on upper level where coffee break and cocktail hour were hosted Here is a break down of the food which was all arranged by the eglinton grand. Coffee Break: Between the ceremonies there was a coffee and cake break. I was lucky enough to try all 4 cakes and 2 pastries. Each cake was declious and I would order them again. The pastries on the other hand were bland and not my favourite - definitely not a repeat. Cocktail hour: The house white wine and signature drink were excellent! To compliment the drinks, they had pulled pork sliders which were topped with a chucky coleslaw (yummy), chicken tandoori skewers (which were full of flavour but too spicy for my liking) and my favourite was the beef wellington bites with a gravy sauce. My wife and I are from Toronto, but are both currently working and living in New York City. Since our families still live in Toronto, it was important to us to have our wedding back home. Wedding planning from afar was not easy, but deciding to choose The Eglinton Grand as our wedding reception venue turned out to be the best decision we made (besides getting married of course!). Rebecca (our Eglinton Grand Event Coordinator) and her team made the entire process, from beginning to end, as seamless as possible. First things first, lets talk about the venue itself. The unique décor was an instant attraction. The Eglinton Grand is a revamped old school (1920s era) movie theatre. While it has been updated, it has managed to retain so many of its original and timeless features. In addition to being a single event space (so much better when you don't have to worry about another event stealing your thunder), the extra touches of the grand Marquee sign, red carpet, movie posters, projection screen all added to the flair of the night. Food was fantastic, as well as the late night stations, specifically the Poutine Station (which was a huge hit with our out of town guests)! Lastly, but not least, the best part of having our wedding reception at The Eglinton Grand was the incredible staff. Starting with our awesome event coordinator Rebecca, who was extremely accommodating; willing to provide ideas and suggestions, while also taking into account all of our wishes, to plan an amazing evening. They were willing to bend over backwards to accommodate last minute scheduling requests (specifically with food tastings etc.) since we were planning from out of town. Great place to have a wedding. I have been to their bridal open houses where it features some of their in house vendors. Their bar set up is stunning. Lounge area is modern and sophisticated. Stage area is large. Dance floor is is a dark brown hardwood/laminate. Rest is carpeted. Lobby has a large piano. Beautiful venue. The cons is the parking is difficult to find. And the outside of the venue does not look very posh. The first time I passed by my fiancé had thought it looked a bit sketchy so we did not end up going in to inquire lol However recently we were invited to their bridal open house, they featured their in house hor d'oeuvres which was amazing. Came here for a winter wedding and I have to admit, looked alright on the outside. This is a classic case of "don't judge the book by its cover!! They put my friend's name "up in the lights" which was a great way to greet people (and also to make those driving by aware that "hey...the wedding is HERE!!" When you walk inside you feel as if you are being taken back to the old black-and-white movie era. You can tell that this was an old movie theatre due to its high ceilings and almost cavernous feeling. We had drinks in the "upper" area of the theatre as the happy couple was getting their photos done. There could have been a bit more seating upstairs since everyone was getting a bit tired and wanted to get dinner going. Inside is a very beautiful art deco place for holding events and they stuck with that theme right down to the "EXIT" signs. It was very very classy and classic all at the same time without being overbearing. Sound quality was also very good. The music being played sounded fine and didn't have to worry about too much of an echo effect. There were about 15 tables of 10 at this place and we still had a huge dance floor to get your groove on as well. Just to let you know that parking can be a bit tricky in this area as it is ALWAYS busy.. They have Green P and street available, but no actual facility parking. If you are the bride/groom, they have the front area for you to be dropped off at, but as for leaving the car, well, that's the chauffeur's issue! read more

What a unique place to have as your wedding or event venue! I wish there was something like this in Vancouver. Customize your event name on the theatre awning above the doors! Put a poster of the happy couple where the movie posters usually are inserted! Actually play your favorite movie (silently and in black and white) between speeches and when people are eating and chatting away! Wisk the crowd up to the balcony for drinks and appetizers while you re-make the room from a place of ceremony to a dining hall, then open up the balcony curtains and allow the crowd to look down at the couple having their first dance on the floor! I am reviewing the Eglinton Grand as its potential for a wedding venue after a site visit. First of all, this is a very unique and beautiful venue! It has a very old hollywood vibe about it. When renting, the entire facility is booked for you, so there are no other events happening at the same time or on the same date. Loved the coordinator here, while her approach was a bit more casual, she was incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. Right off the bat, I found a pretty major issue. The venue isn't exactly accessible. We have some immediate family with severe mobility issues. When you enter the main venue, you go down some stairs and then there's a set and a half of stairs going up. They do have one of those motorized chairs that goes up the side of the stairs for people who can't get up them, but with multiple people with mobility issues, that was going to be an issue. As well, I would feel very badly putting people with mobility issues on display or have a spotlight put on them because they would all be waiting for this chair to be free when arriving. To add to that, the ceremony space has an entirely separate entrance and its own set of stairs. The separate entrance part really threw me for a loop and it was the one thing I really disliked about this venue. Your guests arrive for the ceremony and have to enter a few doors down from the main venue (the main venue has that beautiful marquee and is very clearly marked). And then your guests have to go back out that door, down the street and then enter the main venue. I didn't particularly like this at all - if the weather is inclement, the guests will have to go back out into nasty weather to get to the actual venue. This part felt very disjointed about the venue. Otherwise, the venue has a lot of great features, like a huge screen for playing movies on, a really nice lounge at the back of the space for cocktail hour with curtains that will dramatically open onto your reception space. There's surround sound in this area so that people sitting away from the dance floor can still hear the music, but it can be turned down. A downside is no parking at this venue, so you're at the mercy of street parking or Green P (there's one just down the block). One of the dealbreakers for me was the venue rental fee. If you have enough guests, this fee is reduced (or waived) but if not, it really adds up quickly. This venue would have been in budget if it weren't for the $4000 room rental fee tacked on top. Overall, a very nice venue for a wedding but just not for us! read more

We had our wedding reception at the Eglinton Grand 1 year ago! Teresa and Sarah were very accommodating as we were planning our Toronto wedding from Washington, DC as my husband and I both live here but decided to have our wedding in Toronto since we are both from there and many of our family still live there. We are still getting compliments on how wonderful the venue looked when looking at pictures and how well it was set up. We were really pleased with the little extra details such as the lights under the head table that just looked amazing in the pictures and professionalism of the bar staff and sound tech. Parking is pretty expensive around the area. The street parking in front of the Eglinton grand is 2.25/hour. The green P pay parking lot close behind the Eglinton grand is 1.50 each half hour. The finance aspect was very painless with the venue, which I loved as an accountant. They will send you the sample bill with everything in so you ensure there are no hidden costs. Guest reviews said the meal was very good. We went for the top tier choice menu. The food was great at our tasting but honestly I was running around so much as the bride, I think I had something like 1 bite per plate at the actual wedding. read more

Had a really wonderful experience here. My buddy's wedding was held here; lots of room for dancing and plenty of seating (we weren't cramped, which is unusual for so many venues). Wasn't expecting the venue to be so polished; it's a rejuvenated treasure. The night itself was a blur, but honestly, I don't have any complaints. Food (steaks especially) was excellent, ambience was better than anything I've witnessed in Toronto...my only complaints revolved around the current parking situation, which, in the end, wasn't really that big of an issue. Our experience at the Eglinton Grand was exceptional. The ambiance, lighting and food were on point. We were thinking about our wedding the next day and we could not find anything negative to say about our experience, which really says something. We had 200 guests and everyone was impressed with the venue. We were also very happy with our event coordinator, Sarah. She was very helpful throughout the entire process. Last minute spontaneous invitation by a friend to Eglinton Grand for their bridal open house this past Thursday. The exterior reminded me of old time cinemas with it's bright flashy signage, so if you're looking for an old Hollywood glamour sort of venue, you might want to check this place out. Upon entering, they had a popcorn stand and the staff there were nice enough to let us in even though we didn't rsvp. The main hall is very beautiful and spacious with a high ceiling. Nice big stage with a dance floor directly in front. Many tables were set up in the middle of the hall for display purposes and the vendors were in the sides. They had lot of sampler stations including beaver tails and some of their in-house caterers. My friends and I tried their specialty cocktail and found it a little too sweet. There were vendors for suits, photography/videography, wedding cakes, a florist, caterers, even a lady who will paint at your wedding! A good eye opener if you're tying the knot in the near future :) There are multiple floors above the main venue hall accessible by stairs (don't believe there was an elevator so not wheelchair accessible). These upper floors are much smaller and could serve as an intimate lounge area. Only downsides my friend mentioned (to which I agree) are the parking and the area around the venue. Maybe there's parking behind the venue? But I sure didn't see it, I parked on a residential street nearby and my friends paid $5 for the green P. I can see how this could be a big headache for wedding guests. It's also a location where it's not the most convenient to take public transit, not to mention that you probably wouldn't want to being all dressed up. Attended a wedding at the Eglinton Grand this weekend. I was VERY disappointed especially with the food. The chicken/quail was flavorless and spongy...the veggies that accompanied it were raw and firm...they served us soup that amounted to two to three tablespoons and the pasta was dry even though it was covered in a cheese sauce. This place looks incredible. Not sure about the food as I've heard mixed reviews. I would highly suggest that you avoid Rebecca. She had no interest in helping us with cost effective options, where all other venues we went to were fully willing to help out. Also, we informed her that timing was tight and that we wanted or package completed immediately. All other venues we went to had the packages printed out on the spot, so we could see our price right away. She said it would be ready that evening or at the latest, the next morning. That of course did not happen. She wrote down all of our prices. All she had to do was type and print. I suppose procrastination got the best of her. This was our number one choice and we had to pass on Eglinton Grand, not because of the food, definitely not because of the venue, but because of one person's lack of customer care and eagerness to get something so simple completed. We recently had our firm's 100th Anniversary Gala & Holiday Party at the Eglinton Grand and the entire experience from beginning to end was just flawless! The Sales Manager there, Rebecca Bridge, has been working with our committee over the past year to make everything perfect. She was so quick to respond to questions (and we had a LOT of questions!) and was very knowledgeable and friendly! The actual venue is just a dream and I can say in the 20 years at my firm, it was the best holiday party we've had!! Everyone had such an amazing time! The ambiance of the vintage theatre was really magical and the space was perfect for our group of 117. The day of the Operations Manager, Joe, went out of his way to ensure we had what we needed. He asked all of the guests if their food was acceptable. Everyone seemed to love their meals! The dishes were cooked to perfection. The other staff that day, Mark, Aira & Artur also were so helpful, friendly and easy to deal with! I kept saying to my colleagues that they were so on the ball and made the night a snap... they helped us keep on schedule and really took away the stress of the evening so I was able to have fun too! We just held our daughter's bat mitzvah service and party at The Eglinton Grand and we were thrilled with how magical the whole event turned out to be!! The ambience and décor were second to none - the place has been restored to its former Art Deco movie-house glory. We had our daughter's name up on the marquee, and our guests were greeted on a red carpet with brass stanchions and red velvet ropes. Cocktails were served upstairs in a beautiful mezzanine area, from which guests were heard to gasp when the curtains were opened to reveal the stunning décor of the dining room and dance floor below. The special events managers at The Eglinton Grand, Chantal and Teresa, were fantastic - friendly, professional, knowledgeable and accommodating with our every question (of which there were many throughout the planning process!). They made everything so easy for us! The event-night staff was also very helpful and professional. I was so impressed by how special everyone there made us feel about our event, despite the fact that we were surely just one more event in a week/month/year full of events for them. Chantal and Teresa worked very hard with us to customize our fantastic dinner spread. They were willing to explore different options and pricing, and in the end, we received rave reviews from our guests about the food and drinks. They also provided terrific recommendations for entertainment, photo/video and décor when asked, and we were so happy with how well they all worked together. I cannot argue with some of the drawbacks I've read about this venue, but we didn't find them to be deal-breakers. Parking is scarce, it's true. But that's mid-town Toronto for you... We heard no complaints from our guests, who simply parked in the 'Green P' a block away or took an Uber to the event (and were pleased not to have to travel too far). Accessibility has been much improved with the recently installed elevator, which was used by our more elderly guests. It only accommodates a few people at a time though, so be sure most of your guests can use the stairs. The separate ceremony space (Gallery Room) does have a separate entrance, true, which means that guests had to don their coats again to exit and re-enter the main entrance for the party. We were given the choice of holding the ceremony in the main ballroom instead, but opted to go with the Gallery Room anyway, because we much preferred its more intimate atmosphere. The only detail that we really wish had been different was that all of the uneaten food from our dinner ended up being discarded; they would not give us the leftovers or even donate them to a shelter. We were told that this was for everyone's protection, and I've heard that this is not uncommon in the catering industry. But it still didn't sit well with us to have that much food go to waste. I first want to say I love the look of Eglinton Grand. It fit perfectly with my art deco style wedding and I still get rave reviews about the food from my October wedding. Everything was cooked to perfection... even the chicken breast! And on the plus side any desserts they don't make you can bring in like ethnic foods or kernels popcorn which we opted for. BUT I only gave them 3 stars because of the service from Melissa and the tech guy. I didn't expect everything to run perfectly but there was a lot of miscommunication with the event coordinators; they didn't realize my sushi chef didn't show up until 30min into cocktail hour; the audio visual tech did not respond to any of my emails until I copied other employees on my 3rd follow up; and even after asking him to make sure my video worked for my father daughter dance (which he said was tested and worked fine) it failed to play properly on the day of. What made me upset is that for all of these issues the blame was put on me. They said I wasn't told what I was told and the issue was with my video even though I sent the email with the working video attached after the fact to the manager and the back up copy on my usb works on every other computer I tested it on. Then they started to make excuses like the tech thought my video was supposed to be 1min long (does that even make sense for a father daughter dance to cut off after a minute!). They tried to compensate me with money but I'd gladly give it back if I could go back and have a proper father daughter dance. They're the only vendor I won't be sending a thank you to for that reason. Hire better coordinators and an audio tech and this place would be a 5. read more
