There is no better spot to open a yoga studio in Ellicott City! Right in the same parking lot you…read morecan find an Indian restaurant and an Indian specialty grocery store called "Ganesh Brothers," can that name be any more fitting!? This studio just opened a little more than a month ago and there are a ton of well-known instructors who have come here from other studios I have been to. They also offer a bunch of different types of classes, such as kids yoga, different types of mediation classes, and different types of gentle classes. So whether you're an experienced yogi or just want to take it easy, there is a bunch to offer here. And if becoming a member or paying the drop-in fee is too pricey for you, they offer a bunch of community gentle or meditation classes for only $5-7 (depending on how long the class is). I absolutely love the huge window at the front of the class. If you take a morning or afternoon class, they don't even need to turn the lights on. One time it was snowing out the window and it was so beautiful to look at during class. Some teachers even put out string lights for the evening classes and that against the white flooring and beautiful white sheer curtains surrounding the studio makes such a serene setting. The monthly membership here is very inexpensive compared to most yoga studios I've been to. And if you have a bunch of kids who wanna try yoga, the family membership is extremely reasonable. I can't say enough great things about this studio!

It's clean and has plenty of room for your personal items. The studio has plenty of parking so you don't have to worry about where to park. My first visit was for a Yoga Nidra for Deep Relaxation & Connection class given by January. It involved light stretching and movement at first then followed by beautiful live music by Jenna and Taylor. After that it was about an hour of guided meditation that focus on relaxation & breathing. My overall experience at the studio and the class was wonderful. I would definitely visit the studio again and look forward to what is in store for the future classes.

I have been a regular student at CoreWorks for about five years, and I love it! This is not one of…read morethose "bargain bin" clubs stacked with reformers and a ridiculous client-instructor ratio. At Coreworks, the classes have no more than 8-10 reformers, so the instructor can take the time to help each student with the routines. No two workouts are the same, and classes are never dull. If you are thinking of giving Pilates a try, visit CoreWorks and check Groupon, as there are often new member/class packages.

I always wanted to try pilates on the reformer. The gym I go to is too pricy so when I saw an offer…read moreon groupon for three sessions I purchased it. Per the instructions on groupon, I emailed Fran so that I could create a log in online but I didn't hear back from her so I called the office. Once my account was created, I was able to sign up for classes. I was informed before I took any classes I would need to take the Intro to Equipment class. Fran was the instructor. She was patient and helpful as it was my first time and I needed specialized attention. For my second session, I took Reformer I & II with Doreen. Foe my last session I took Tower with a substitute for Doreen. All the instructors were patient, helpful, and friendly. They ask if anyone had injuries and they walk around and if your technique is wrong they adjust and correct you which I greatly appreciated. The classes were challenging to me since I am not good at following directions. Also, if you don't remember instructions well, I recommend taking Intro to Equipment multiple times. I had to look around to see how to do things as I am a visual learner, not an audio learner. The facility is tucked away in the corner and is not visible if you are in the parking lot. Fortunately I saw someone wearing athletic clothes and followed them. The facility is clean and bright. There are two individual restrooms. There is a main room with cubbies. The reformer room also had cubbies. The reformer room was slightly warm even with ceiling fans so I dressed lighter the second and third session. I enjoyed my experience, but could have benefitted from more intro classes. The classes were much different than my normal cardio and strength training classes at my gym. The pace was slower and it was a great way to relieve stress. I highly recommend Core Fitness for Pilates.

I decided on the iRest Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation that was led by Lucy held on Fri, Sept 28. You register online and they send registrants a confirmation and reminder email. I was grateful as they mentioned that the gps address is 8950 Old Annapolis Road and that the building faces Route 108 and that parking is located behind the building. Yoga mats, blankets, and pillows are all available for the session. Lucy starts the class by providing background information and the process for iRest Yoga Nidra. Then she walked around making sure that each participant looked comfortable by the way they were laying or sat. For me, she suggested putting a the pillow underneath my knees whereas I had laid it underneath my calves. That made it more comfortable. Lucy then began by telling us to notice the sounds around us such as the class next door, traffic, etc. Then she followed by having us relax different body parts and concentrating on our breathing. I had had a very stressful and frustrating day at work so I was really looking forward to this session. Although Lucy was a wonderful facilitator I found myself distracted and fidgety. I could not sit still, focus, or relax. All the more reason why I need take more yoga and meditation classes. I was closest to the wall that was next to a class in the next room. I would have preferred if it had been quieter. It was a bit distracting. The room was a bit chilly but I didn't want to use the blanket they offer because I'm a germophobe and I don't know how frequently the blankets get washed so being chilly could be one reason why I wasn't relaxed. Lastly, my fellow yogis who were so relaxed that they were snoring. My attention ended up being focused on that. I definitely need more mindfulness in my life. It was a great experience nonetheless. I highly recommend that everyone give it a try and take advantage of the free classes when they are offered. Namaste.
