Nevertheless I was enjoying a good day of window shopping and so decided to have an elongated nose at their stock. The first window display was reasonably minimalist. There was a striped beige and white sofa next to a beige and white rose patterned armchair. Both had sort of faded union jack flag cushions, presumably faded on purpose, and a striped rug in shades of brown was laid in front of the furniture. On that were two very small leather valises with a model ship in front of them next to a ball of (?) yarn. It was a strange and yet oddly stylish display of interior arrangements. Of course, the rest of the shop did not have the same off kilter vibe but I was stood for a bit of time trying to figure out what was going on - to the point that the lady at the desk began to glare at me which made me feel a little afraid to enter! Wishing, almost, to convince her I was an innocent browser/potential buyer I crept in as unassumingly as possible and had a quick scout around. There were a few more nautical style items, a small coffee table with a faux snake skin finish, hoards of beige variety cushions and a lampshade with a deer at the base. I left pretty sharpish so as not to further annoy the shop lady, although I did enjoy some of the quirky items. In all, it's a fairly eclectic little shop for interiors, but I liked the random country element to their stock. Things were pretty beige though, and that is never too exciting.

The place is stuffed full of mattresses and washing machines rather than nice pieces of furniture. There was a guy standing in the door way smoking that put me off going in but I could see through the window that I wouldn't find what I wanted. Having said that, I imagine it is very useful if you are a landlord in Hyde Park or Headingley. It is an area heavily populated by students so there are plenty of houses for rent in need of such a shop. Apart from furniture, they can help with electrical appliances and carpets.

Excellent service, good and helpful knowledge and an excellent price considering I had tried a different supplier which was cheaper but the quality was substandard. I was in there the other day getting a few…read morethings that I usually pick up in this health food store - dried fruit, gluten free biscuits, nuts - and I over heard a member of staff giving a lady some advice on a product. She wanted something for hay fever and he went through some options with her, even asking if she had been to see her doctor. He suggested local honey. Apparently this builds up your immunity to the local pollen and won't be affected by it as badly. I don't think the staff are trained in this kind of thing but the woman was so grateful for the advice from the very helpful young man! They sell a wide range of health supplements and vitamins as well as food and a stock health magazine.

I'm guessing the first one is plain stupid (well stupid is as stupid does) so I got y sorry looking butt down to Red Brick Mill. What a pleasant find it is too. They pride themselves on some of the North's leading contemporary designers and their furniture is sheer class. They are home to 35 cutting-edge designers and there is enough inspiration to keep even my motor mouth quiet for an hour or so. If you want to jazz up your lounge, no problem. Slick and chic sofas sit along side funky tables. You'll even find plush flooring, cookware and gifts. It's quite pricey but sometimes money does buy taste and it shows here. Add to that four cafes to refresh those flagging shopping legs and it's worth a punt. A definite reason to venture into Batley and spruce up the house in your life.

The shop has an Aladdins cave feel with 4 or 5 rooms opening out from each other. They stock smaller items such as lights, tableware, pictures, cushions etc and have some elements of their furniture range on site with more on line. The cafe is a great place to hang out and try some of their furniture by sitting on it while you enjoy your food/drink. Lots of different tea pigs flavours to try and lots of cake too.

They stock things like notebooks, photo albumns, cushions, throws, money boxes and re-useable shopping bags. They do a great range of jewellery and some fantastic wine glasses made from recycled glass bottles. Buy your gifts here and shop with a clear conscience. The staff are friendly and the shop has a relaxed, laid back atmosphere; they're used to people just browsing. It's not cheap, but not too dear either and you're paying for ethical goods.
