    Us and our finished paintings
    Tina S.

This was such a wonderful experience, I have never painted before in my life, so this was fun to give it a try. I thought my painting would be horrible and couldn't understand how it was going to work. The teacher was funny, friendly, and lighthearted, she was also so helpful. I took my husband and he was the only man, but he enjoyed himself too. I love that they do this at a bar on their slow nights to help bring them some business, it's kind of neat. We painted at Zest, an organic gluten free bar. We decided to hold off eating dinner due to there bit being much room, but did get the hummus veggie appetizer, it was good, and of course some alcohol. Overall, I recommend this to all :)

    Whiskey Barrel Terrarium Class

My friend was visiting from out of town and we both wanted to try something new, so we took the Whiskey Barrel terrarium making class and had a wonderful time! The instructor was absolutely amazing and patient with us as it was our first time. She explained everything well. We had a blast making them and were so happy with how they looked at the end! We also loved the venue. Hoping to take another class very soon!

Imagine a room full of creative wannabes, a hilariously talented instructor, friends, drinks, bar food, easels and paint. Now are you smiling? Well, I was and still am! I had a blast! Despite not being that great of a painter, I can't wait to do it again. Our instructor was Henry Tanaka and he skillfully directed a room full of people to paint and have fun! A must do activity with friends or family!

Me and my husband had a wonderful experience with plant Nite ! This is such a fun idea for date night and loved the result of our planters. Although the restaurant it was held in was not very good and the waiter was horrible! We never got our drinks until we were half way through the night. Would definitely do plant nite again in the future though.

i came here with sylvia m. so we could check out this new plant nite event. it's from the same company as paint nite and you can make reservations on their website. the concept is that they have these events at different bars and restaurants around the city, so you can drink and eat while participating. we had both bought groupons, but if you pay full price it's $45. plus they charge you an additional $10 for supplies. trust me, $55 total is not worth it for this event. i spent a total of $35 with my groupon and i felt so ripped off afterwards. i can't imagine anyone paying full price for this. we chose a table and they passed around the containers we'd be using. we were given instructions and then each table was allowed to go up to the material section to start creating their terrarium. first we put rocks in, then dirt, then they passed around succulents. afterwards, we put moss and colored rocks on top. the instructor later came around to let us each pick one plastic dinosaur to put in our completed terrarium. the event itself seemed awkward and disorganized. there was a lot of time that felt wasted while we were just waiting for our turn to go get our materials. it was hard to eat bar food as your hands are dirty from being in the dirt. you could wash your hands, but then you'd be touching rocks/dirt/moss again. plus the colored moss stains your hands, so be careful with that. i think a better system would be to have all the material on the individual tables already or to have several stations set up instead of just one for like 30 people. i wasn't a fan of plant nite and wouldn't come back. paint nite is way more fun and it feels more interactive.

Came here with the girlfriend and my parents and we all had a great time! It was entertaining, a fun group of people, the teacher was a lot of fun and helped the group stay positive. I don't have an artistic bone in my body and was still happy with my painting! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to try something different in SLC.

Such a fun night! Turns out painting and drinking is totally relaxing. I was very surprised when my boyfriend agreed to go with me to something like this and even more surprised that he had such a great time. We will definitely be doing this again.

We love paint nite. This was our 3rd time doing it. All at different locations. This time it was at Bar Down in West Jordan. Met the bar owner and Selina is very nice. We arrived early and got a few drinks and chips and salsa. I would suggest arriving to Paint Nite early to reserve your seating, especially if you have more than a few in your group. Blossom was our instructor and she was fun. She told jokes and had a great sense of humor. She was very helpful and would come around to make sure we were mixing the colors the way we wanted them and to show us different techniques. Paint nite is great. They provide the paining idea, the canvas, the paints, the brushes, aprons and a location with drinks and food. We will definitely keep attending Paint Nite.

This was my first Paint Nite experience and it was hosted at Squatter's last Sunday afternoon. When I got there, I wasn't sure where the actual painting was going to take place since there were no signs and the dining area was completely full. After asking, it was nice to see that there was the entire upstairs area reserved just for the class. The instructors were really friendly and prompt when it came to getting everyone checked in. The materials provided were all brand new, and the instructions were communicated over a microphone so there was no difficulty with hearing. The class had a total of 40 people and was 2 hours long. I felt a little bit rushed at times, especially when I would run out of paint and have to wait for the assistant to come around and give me more, but with so many paintings around, it was easy to see what was needed to be done next. There were a couple of 5-10 minute breaks to allow our paintings to dry before moving on to the next step, but there weren't any dryers to speed this process if you were a little behind. Overall, this was a fun experience and a nice gift for one of my girlfriends even though painting is not high up on my list of things to do on the regular.

My husband teases me because my eyes lit up on our first call with Michelle the second she whipped out her color coded spreadsheet and started to explain her process. Boy did they not disappoint. I told so many people that I wished that Heather, our Executive Planner, planned more things in my life. Monthly calls with her for the two years leading up to the wedding were the highlight of the month. She could not have been more responsive or done a better job of keeping us on track. It was particularly reassuring to know that we were in good hands given that we were planning this wedding from afar. It was so helpful to have her team recommend pre-vetted vendors so all we needed to do was review their websites and have a quick chat (and of course we loved all their recommendations). Michelle was the one with the artistic vision who did all the gorgeous design work. Let me tell you, this wasn't just a few "vision board" photos. This was a 60+ page design document complete with suggestions for invitations to floral to drinks that matched! Then she and the team brought it to life. The wedding itself was an absolutely dream, above and beyond what we'd hoped, but that also wasn't a surprise because we'd known all along that we were in the best hands. Everyone commented on how relaxed I was on the day of the wedding, but that was because I trusted Heather and the team with 100% confidence and they did not disappoint. My mother-in-law now wants to be Heather's assistant! Boy are we going to miss working with this team.

I haven't dealt with the people behind Pierpont, but rather been to an event at Pierpont. So if I ever do plan an event here (which *ahem* I'd love to do) I'll be sure to fill in the deets from the other side. What I can say is that I really dig this space. Located on one of the most personality-filled streets in the city, it's just crawling with character. I'm unfamiliar with the history of the building, but would love to know the backstory. Now it's a beautiful, long and not so very narrow space with a high ceiling and windows all along the north end. It's not quite an industrial feel--it's nicer than all of that. But it's got a city vibe to it that's just kind of special. They host all kinds of events there. Tonight was a tasting event that showed off a simple decor, a few cocktail tables, a small raised stage, and some nice lighting. I would presume the kitchen facilities were adequate, as there were two chefs there preparing a couple small bites. The staff was great. On top of dish service, all smiles. I stuck around until after the official event hours were over, and it was fun to see the staff whip the place back into tidy shape while making plans for post-event mischief. Classy. I'm going with classy. A classy, unstuffy place to have an event.

The plant and decor options were good, I do with I had another smaller terrarium option. There were **70** people in our class. Far too many in my opinion. It was hard to walk around sometimes and we ended up in a smaller back room (which actually we were fine with due to sound levels). So go early if you want a table in the main room. I appreciated their flexibility and "roll with it" attitude. We ended up with more food than we needed, and they were wonderful to package it all up and provide it to us. My favorite part of it all was that they took care of everything from setup to serving and cleanup. There was enough on my plate-literally-that I was so grateful not to have to worry about the food. We were thrown quite a curve ball the day of my wedding in that due to a completely unforeseeable situation, our venue became unavailable. I work as a project manager and can admit I am a very hands-on and organized person. I originally did not plan to hire any additional planning or coordinating services but finally decided an extra pair of hands would be helpful. Even if everything had gone according to plan, Roberta & Shelby were SO much more than just the extra pair of hands I thought I needed. There was no way any of us could have predicted the last minute venue change, but Roberta & Shelby handled it flawlessly. Without them, no amount of my organization or planning could have pulled off our wedding the way they did. Roberta was incredibly professional. She notified me early on of the changes, but only after she had time to begin working out a new action plan. I appreciated being kept in the loop, but also appreciated that she didn't call me the second the news broke...informing me of problems without potential solutions to offer would have been extra stress I didn't need in that moment. Roberta & Shelby were also absolutely in sync with Park City Resort and all of my other vendors. The communication and coordination was excellent. Because they had both taken the time to get to know me and understand my vision in the weeks leading up to the wedding, they did an amazing job of recreating our decor in a new venue space. Everything was exactly how I would have liked to see it, even though I wasn't available to provide any input. The planning leading up to our wedding was also perfectly executed. Roberta & Shelby asked the right questions, ran with my ideas, and prompted me to think about different approaches when appropriate. Roberta & Shelby are both extremely capable and professional, but what makes them stand a part from other professionals in your field is how genuine they are. They genuinely wanted to make this wedding my dream wedding, and they went above and beyond at every turn. Roberta even offered to hold our guest's baby during dinner so the couple could enjoy their meal. Although this wasn't something I saw, at least 20 of my guests did notice and made a point to tell me how amazing the Hoopes team was! That's exactly the kind of detail only a person genuinely committed to delivering an above and beyond experience would even think to do. My husband (!) and I are blown away by the HOOPES team.
