My initial message: "Hi Brian, I am just looking for a quote for 2023 tax filing, not to actually start it yet. We will be needing help on a couple of tax situations this year." His exact response: "Understood. I will provide a quote for 2023 during our call. I just sent the questionnaire." He then emailed me the questionnaire; I put I was interested in "Individual taxes" and sent it back to him, I NEVER put I was interested in Investment management or any other kind of financial services. So he knew this whole time I only wanted tax preparation. He still proceeded to call me today and asked a few questions related to our tax situation. Then at the end of the call he asked if I was looking for someone to manage our investments, I said not at this point...we are only looking for tax preparation now. His tone completely changed and he abruptly told me in a condescending manner we are not a good fit because they are saturated with tax preparation clients and he's looking for clients who want investment management. I was pretty shocked at the change in his tone and his annoyance once I told him I didn't need someone to manage our investments. Again, I made it VERY clear from the start I was looking for tax preparation services only from my initial message AND the questionnaire he had me fill out. I honestly don't know why he still called and was rude when he knew he couldn't take on any more clients who only wanted tax filing.

This year we decided we'd try them again... big mistake. We submitted our tax information through their app and I sent them a message requesting they file an extension for us. I didn't receive any confirmation but assumed, since we signed the form stating they were going to be our tax preparer, that they filed the extension. I have spent WEEKS trying to get a hold of them. Through their app, their email, and phone with no response. I just got off the phone with the IRS and an extension was never filed so now we have until the end of the month to file.

My call was March 6 and Vincent was very helpful with all my questions, but turned out I needed to gather a few more things before filing my taxes. I submitted them about 6 days after that zoom meeting. March 18 I receive a message from someone stating that they're updating my paperwork. March 28th, I reached out to ask for an update and no response. I called the office twice and two different people picked up to leave messages for Vincent and nothing. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and just be patient but I think waiting 2 whole months for poor communication and no movement in my case is kind of ridiculous. Especially when I know my friend had her taxes filed pretty quickly. I wish things worked out or someone would at least COMMUNICATE with me what was happening. Now I have to scramble and find someone else to do it for me before the deadline. Don't take on new clients if you don't have the time of day to communicate.

Legally, my parents have never been married on paper, but the taxes said they were married and filing jointly and I don't know anything about it -- which is why we pay to receive services and have someone else file our taxes. Anyways, I come in with my dad, and this gentleman asks us to sit. Going well so far, so we sit, and I start by explaining my situation. This year, SDSU wanted to verify my financial aid. I asked him about what the school is requesting, and he says he doesn't understand. Then he proceeds to get upset and raise his voice as I try to explain that the FAFSA office at SDSU is requesting an amended tax form due to the marital status of my parents. He doesn't let me finish a sentence yet alone get a word in. He gets so pissed and starts saying that I filed my financial aid wrong (even if this is true, he did not have to handle it the way he did) and started insisting that I'm being greedy for my own benefit . . . He's getting aggressive when I simply was trying to explain the situation with what my school was requesting from my dad's 2023 taxes. He continues raising his voice and starts throwing out that I don't know what I'm talking about and that he went to school 40 years ago so knows what he's talking about. (I never mentioned anything about his qualifications.) He kept cutting me off and getting worse when I tried to come back down from his high emotions. He even said he's never had someone question his work in 40 years but according to the other reviews, there must be two sides to the story . . . Anyways. He refused to amend the taxes and that's fine. I know it's a complicated process but then I requested a print of my dad's 2023 taxes just in case there could be something else useful for my school to use in the verification process, and he declined yelling that my dad has it at home. I gave up at this point because I'm honestly so shocked. So we went home to search for it and nothing came up. My dad went back alone at a later time to ask for it, and then he printed it out. He took my questions very personally when that was never my intention. I was very upset and uncomfortable during the whole interaction. I'm only giving a 2-star instead of 1 because he ended up printing the tax forms for my dad when he went alone without me. But the experience itself was traumatizing when I was seeking help and advice from a "professional." I've never had to work with someone so childish and egotistical before. I may be a young college student, but I'm not a greedy liar that he said I was . . . For wanting to figure out my parents tax situation for my financial aid. I went to his office to tell him that "you claiming my cousin as a dependent" is illegal, because we don't live at the same address and I'm not the head of household. He didn't say anything, just threw the tax book on the table and asked me to read it. The funny thing is I don't have to read the tax regulations. I pay him, he has to understand the law and do it right, not me. In the end, he couldn't solve the problem for me and I had to refund the entire tax amount and penalty fee to the tax authority.
