Arrived at the Novato Sports Basement with plenty of parking. The regular staff was helpful by explaining what to expect and directed us to the main Yelp check-in. Donated $20 to the non-profit - Glancy Wine Education Foundation - got a swag bag. Got to know the vendors' offerings, plans and ventures, or new locations: - Adobe Road Winery (Petaluma location, new tasting room ~02/26, their red blend and Pinot noir wines) - J Lohr Vineyards & Wines (their nice Red Blend wine) - Matanzas Creek Winery (only vendor revisited 3x for the merlot) - Foodie Panda (Portuguese style egg tart, foodie tour in '26) - Toast Restaurant (special Mediterranean menu, kids eat free M-TH) - Lone Mountain Barbecue (the CM suggested porchetta, and Sausage) - Tacos el Muchacho Alegre (first time trying pozole) - Hot Italian (mobile wood-fired pizza oven) IMO, the best Yelp events are the ones open to Elites and non-Elites alike. They are bigger and are the best chance to meet or see other yelpers. Also, seeing many vendors from prior events and discovering new vendors is a plus. You cannot stop by and chat all of them in the allocated three hours! Good to see CMs Paolo, Gina, Dom and thank you Sports Basement - Novato, Mary, Ruby, and Yelp North Bay! Note Sports Basement online discount code good until 11/16/25: YELPPNB

We had an amazing time at the Après Ski themed event last night! There were so many incredible local vendors -- I feel like I only scratched the surface! From the delicious bites to the awesome entertainment, it was just nonstop fun! I enjoyed every vendor I had the chance to try and I can't wait to order directly or visit their establishments in the future! I even tried honeycomb from Buddy's Farm for the first time and honey soda! Yum! Hot Italian Pizza was another one that stood out for me (tasted very close to New York brick oven pizza)! The live band set the perfect vibe and I enjoyed chatting with the caricature cartoon artist while he drew my picture! The whole event was filled with good energy and positive vibes! It was also great to catch up with a few familiar faces and meeting other Yelpers! I can go on and on, but let's just say that this event left a smile on my face! Thank you to Mary, Yelp, all the local businesses, and Sports Basement! Sports Basement Novato was a vibe!

It was impressive lineup of over 30 fabulous Bay Area businesses for a festive bash filled with delicious bites, fabulous sips, and lively live music. All in the spirit of community and giving back to the Glancy Wine Education Foundation. Cheers to a night of fun, flavor, and fantastic company! A huge shoutout to Mary and the Bay Area CM's for orchestrating such an impressive and lovely event. And Sport Basement? The perfect venue to kick off the winter season with style and cheer! Mary and Ruby pulled off an impressive event in this multi vendor, multi faceted event complete with live music and shopping with a special discount! It was like a farmers market but full of yummy freebies. My top 3 . Adobe Wines ! Point Reyes cheese and Hot Italian pizza ! I was especially surprised with a tarot card reading! Wow! Fantastic event, with a charity pairing. A win win all the way around. It's was an epic NB Eilte bonanza!

What an interesting concept to have an event inside of Sports Basement! Upon entering, all the signage for check in was clear. There were a ton of vendors with yummy samplers. Foodie Panda's Szechuan dishes were some of my faves. Hot Italian pizza, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese and Co, Al's Real Goods cookies, Lone Mountain BBQ, Flores tostada, Ji's Kimchi. By the time I came, Xies Sushi Rolls was out. It would have been nice to have some tables to place our food to eat on. The table where all the Yelp glasses was partially empty and I felt a little bad using the edge of the table to eat but it was a bit hard juggling holding my glass while eating. There was a drink hallway in the back with a caricature station. Robby D and the EFGs live band was great. Yelpers got 20% off a Sports Basement purchase. Donations for the event went toward Glancy Wine Foundation and there were cute Yelp bags available. Thank you CMs, all the businesses involved and Sports Basement for a fun event!

Purple fuzzy jacket and matching velvet boots screams Après Ski to me!

A Yelp party in North Bay?? I'm in! Gotta give all the parts of the bay some good Yelp love and recognition. I frequently travel up north to Santa Rosa, so this gave me a good excuse to make a pit stop in Novato. I brought a friend from San Rafael, who is completely new to Yelp, to the event. She had always heard about these Yelp events I go to, but never really knew what they all entailed! Since it is Apres-Ski themed, I went for a Rave Ski Kitty look - Black techno-inspired tracksuit, furry purple jacket with matching velvet boots, and earmuffs to complete the look. We checked in and immersed ourselves in multiple sections of activities and vendors to check out. From food, beverage, snacks, dessert, music, painting, caricature, fortune-telling, and a video-booth, there was plenty to see, eat, and do! Here are some of my highlights: -Fortune Telling by Goldn Dragon Fortunes aka Wanugee OG Black Badge Elite! We talked about the past (remember those Yelp events from back in the day?) to the future, specifically my future! -Glam Bot video from The Movement Booth. I will never give up a good red carpet moment. -Freshly shaken cocktails from Griffo - I tried the Prickly Pear Gimlet & Espresso Martini. Delicious! -Ji's Kimchi featuring vegan options: vegan and Daikon -Clusterfunk Studios combining music with painting -BoochCraft with the delicious hard Kombuchas. -Vegan gelato from Hot Italiano. Yum! My friend enjoyed the event so much that she is now inspired to start writing Yelp reviews so she can join the Yelp Squad. It was fun to meet and/or say hi to the Bay Area CMs (Hi Mary, Gina, Dom!), and meet some North Bay Yelpers. My critique and suggestion for next time would be to have some high-top tables out for people to set their food & drinks down. There was no seating, tables, or a general area to enjoy our food. People were standing cramped along pathways, balancing delicate, small plates of food and cups while trying to eat at the same time. It felt rude to place our cups down on vendor tables so we could eat our food, but there was nowhere else to put them! Also, more vegan-friendly options would be appreciated, but I understand this is a tasting event. Shoutout to Ji's Kimchi and Hot Italiano for providing vegan-friendly samples! ;) Thank you Yelp team, for putting on this super fun event, all the vendors, and Sports Basement. Can't wait to use my coupon on new Snowboard boots for this season!

Pretty curious seeing an après event held closer to the ocean than to a ski resort. Après what? Well let me tell you: the footprint of this event was the WAY TO GO. Sports Basement, which I usually refer to as the Costco of sports equipment, has very large warehouse-style locations so there's usually plenty of room. This one was no different. A $20 donation was encouraged so at the entrance were QR codes and a cash box. My Venmo went through (NOT mandatory, just encouraged) and we proceeded to pick up our glasses for the evening. So much space. So much. Had some spirits straight up from the Barber Lee table and visited the Griffo Distillery table for one of their three options. Also had some Hive Works Mead along the way to wash down some of the Hot Italian pizza and Mexican sushi. Point Reyes has some cheese and crackers and I'm not even cracking the list of vendors who showed up. Tostada, kimchi...the list is somewhere and they were all pretty great. Had a little Movement Booth reel sent to me via AirDrop. I'm not sure how it happened, but it happened. Featured in that reel is my new Griffo Distillery beanie for the cold. Great to see Mary and Gina (and everyone else who) put together a fabulous gathering for what should be a decent season!

There was so much delicious food and drink at this thoughtfully planned event with North Bay CM Mary and her fellow Bay Area CM's like Dominic from SF! I had fun pairing the Keg Stand beer with the vendors near their table. I liked the pale ale with the Lone Mountain BBQ, and the lager with the Tacos El Muchacho Alegre pozole. For dessert, I had the Hot Italian coconut gelato with the scotch ale, and I made a yummy beer float with the lager & strawberry cheesecake gelato. I also enjoyed the Griffo Distillery prickly pear gimlet with Al's Real Good ginger cookies, and the Barber Lee rye whiskey with Al's chocolate chip cookies. The event was from 5-8pm, so I didn't feel rushed and got to taste many different things, talk to the friendly vendors, and catch up with Yelp friends. I agree with my fellow Yelpers that a suggestion for next time would be more high top tables to set our food & drink down on. It was so nice that the Adobe Road team recognized me from my recent Yelp review praising one of their excellent tasting room staff. I look forward to checking out many of the businesses that I tried today!

This was such a fun and unforgettable Après Ski themed Yelp event! It was great to have this event held in my hometown at one of my favorite stores. I loved seeing all of the Bay Area CM's and Yelpers gathered together for one special night celebrating all things local. I brought a friend from Novato who has been to one other Yelp event. We were impressed with the amount of vendors (30+) and activities offered. I recognized a good amount of vendors where Yelp events have been held in the past: Flores, Griffo Distillery, Barber Lee Spirits, and Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co just to name a few. The first bite I had was the pozole and chips and salsa from Tacos el Muchacho Alegre. The pozole was hot and delicious. The porchetta and jalapeño sausage from Lone Mountain bbq were my favorite. I have been meaning to try their bbq for a long time so I was happy they were there. It was great to discover some new businesses. I enjoyed the tasty treats from Trini's Churro Cookies, the honeycomb and root beer honey soda from Buddy's Farm So Co, and the delicious cider from North Coast Organic. A fellow Yelper introduced me to Ji's Kimchi recently so it was nice to meet the owner and try some samples. I had some spirited sips from Griffo Distillery, Hiveworks Mead, Boochcraft, and Matanzas Creek Winery. The live band, Robby D and the EFG's brought the house down! They played a great set list. I didn't have a chance to do a couple activities like the caricatures and the fortune telling but that's ok. I thoroughly enjoyed this winter-themed community celebration and I want to give a big thank you to Mary V, the North Bay CM's, Yelp, all the local vendors, and Sports Basement for putting on the biggest event of the year!

Had a great time at the Elite Yelp Après Ski event at Sports basement in Novato! The place had a really fun vibe perfect mix great energy and a lively social scene. Got to sample some delicious bites, a great selection of wines, and some bourbons. Some of my favorite standouts were Barber Lee spirits from Petaluma, Point Reyes artesian cheese. The blue cheese was amazing. Trini's churro cookies, & Adobe Road winery the Apex blend was amazing! Big thanks to the Yelp team and the amazing vendors who made the night such a hit. Always enjoy these private Elite events great food, great people, and a chance to discover new local spots!

Had such a fun time at this yelper party! I especially loved the live band they were great. The wine tasting room/hallway was a fun touch. I appreciated the darker/ moody vibe, made it feel like there were different "rooms" to the event! All the vendors were sweet and helped explain their products! Loved the lively event and got to meet some awesome vendors! Thanks for another fun event yelp team :) Also the CMs were dressed so cute

Hands down the best Yelp event I've ever been to!!! Tons of local vendors featuring a wide range of products (many of which were sourced ethically or organically!). There were delicious, mouth-watering product samples at every station which were fantastic promotionals for the businesses involved, as well as takeaway items big and small. The après-ski theme of the party was definitely visible, with the store's inventory and dressed Yelpers all around really feeding into it! The entire event from start to finish had an energy about it, which I believe in large part was due to the super entertaining live band and the friendliest Yelpers I've ever met feeding my soul all evening long!!! I'm so happy I went, and even happier to have learned about it the many small businesses doing big things in the Bay Area! Can't wait for the next one!!!

    Terrific food vendors!

It was beautiful and crafted expertly but boy oh boy lavender lattes will never be repeated by me. Sooo not my thing. Hahha. I love the coffee and espresso by Taylor Lane so I'll just order differently next time. Speaking of NEXT TIME - I look forward to another avocado toast and plan to be enjoying that soon! I never really got into the trend of avocado toast but clearly I didn't know what I was missing. The bread was toasted perfectly - crisped on the edge but soft inside. I ordered an Americano coffee drink, and there was really too much water mixed with the shot of espresso. The two gals that were serving were both very friendly and quick. We haven't visited here in several years, as it's a few miles from home. Funny how easy it is to forget what lies a few short miles from our door! One employee was manning the store when we came in this Sunday, shortly after noon and found everything tidy. There were at least eight flavors to choose from, including the favorite "original tart." I tried the coffee gelato, strawberry and cheesecake. The coffee has an amazing depth of flavor and didn't taste like a kid's dessert so much as a rich treat. The cheesecake flavor definitely came through, but the strawberry tasted a little artificial. While most of their flavors are nonfat, I'm partial to fat - for better or worse! As a result, Swirl's froyo seems less creamy to me than other options. The topping choices were first rate. I loved that they offer compostable cups and spoons! It always makes me so happy when there are environmentally-conscious packaging. It did amuse me that there wasn't a compost bin separate from the trash bin.

This was the ultimate destination for some R&R! Hubby and I used to frequent Bodega Bay while dating; we would make the trek to Dillon and Doran Beach, while making a pit stop at the US Coast Guard training facility at Two Rock when he was active military. We chose the perfect Labor Day weekend to enjoy this beautiful setting without it being scorching hot. As we entered the luscious grounds of the immaculate Bodega Bay Lodge, we were welcomed with warmth and stellar hospitality. The front desk (Maria) had us checked-in already and before we knew it, our luxurious room was ready for occupancy. The room is spacious with sweeping views of the ocean. Make use of the in-room binoculars provided, as you can see Doran Beach, horseback riders, and kitesurfers. The only sounds you will hear from the outside are birds chirping and seals barking. The early evening pampering began with a wine and cheese reception. The lovely Katie poured endless wines of Pinot Noir, Cab, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio from Salmon Creek, which all paired well with red grapes and a variety of cheeses. The ambiance was extremely inviting; however, we had to head back to our rooms to experience our couples massage in the privacy of our guestroom, overlooking the water. To our amazement, we opened the door to see a beautifully decorated platter of cheese, fruit, crackers, and nuts with a card in addition to a bottle of Syrah and wine glasses - voila, surprise!!! Jessica and Daniella arrived promptly to setup our massage beds. I highly recommend the warm shell massage with either one of these two spectacular masseuses, as they enhance, revitalize, and rejuvenate with perfect intensity, and knead away your tense muscles using oils (scented or non-scented), transporting one to a whole new destination of peace and serenity. The height of our evening was dinner at the Duck Club Restaurant. Our hostess Katie from the wine & cheese reception also waited on us - impeccable service. We brought our Estate bottled Wente Cabernet Sauvignon to be opened on this special occasion. Since we had already glanced at their menu during reception, we knew what we wanted. For starters, hubby had fog chowder, while we shared dungeness crabcakes cooked to perfection, really fell in love with the tomato ginger chutney. I also enjoyed three Rockefeller oysters. Hubby ordered the "blue & black" grilled angus rib-eye steak, blackening with spice rubbed, Point Reyes Blue Butter, haricots verts, baby patty pans, and buttermilk mashers. I ordered the applewood-smoked durock pork chop, sautéed rainbow chard, garlicky yukon gold potatoes, and Bourbon-Jalapeño-Peach chutney - never had a pork chop this juicy and savory! Last but not least, desserts were heavenly. Hubby had the chocolate cake, and I ordered fresh strawberry pie with graham cracker crust, which were both to die for. Executive Chef Jeff Reilly did a marvelous job, and he was generous with the flavors and seasoning from beginning to end...beautifully done with finesse! I wish to meet him someday. We did not want the evening to end; therefore, we took a stroll down the pathway towards the pool and hot tub, enjoying the fire pit. We couldn't have ended the night in a more gorgeous setting ~ euphoric. As the pool area closed at 11 p.m., we headed to our room and enjoyed the fireplace with pillow talk (TMI?). Being married so long just means I talk and hubby snores HA! The next morning, we had breakfast back at the Duck Club Restaurant, where the two of us were seated ocean side right by the window. Kelsey our server did a fabulous job waiting on us even with a broken wrist. She was attentive and bubbly :) Hubby ordered the country breakfast with a side of fluffy pancakes, and I had the classic eggs benedict, while sipping on a Bodega Bay bellini, which was Bodega-licious! We requested late checkout, since my mom was watching our son, I tried to milk every minute of our alone time. We took a stroll down to Doran Beach, saw how crowded it got, then headed back to the property and checked out with Natalie. She was extremely helpful and patient. We also purchased two souvenir mugs, and she expeditiously finished the transaction. Before noon, vehicle traffic was heavy, so we made a pit stop at the Potter Schoolhouse, where Alfred Hitchcock filmed "The Birds". I chatted it up with a few locals and off we went to Dillon Beach. Thank you so much for an unforgettable retreat, way beyond 5 stars accommodation and lodging. I wish our lives could be like this forever or just the days that end with a "Y". I was quite happy to be off the grid for more than 24 hours, where nobody could reach us. Back to reality ~ I'm glad we're close enough to return to this awe-inspiring sanctuary!!!

The property is just off the main drag as you drive into Bodega. I have drove by the property for years but never been in, so this was an exciting treat. We turned into the drive way and up the winding road to where the main lobby is located. The grounds are lush with beautiful landscaping and garden art. The property has complimentary bicycles to use and explore the area and they are parked just out front of the lobby. The staff was super friendly and from that first greeting treated me like I was family. Someone who cared to ensure I had a fabulous experience. I shared with the girl this was a bonus because my mister and I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. She told us we were in one of her favorite rooms, a beautiful junior suite. When we drove around to our room and opened the door I was shocked at how incredible it was! Our room was equipped with a king sized bed, whirlpool double jacuzzi tub, warm floors in the bathroom, and a beautiful tiled shower under a skylight. Our patio was an unobstructed view of Doran Beach. It was amazing! The room was spacious, beautiful, clean, and luscious in overall experience. We were welcome by a personalized welcome gift to let us know they appreciate our patronage. We relaxed in our room with the patio door open and the sea breeze rolling in until dinner time. The hotel offers a complimentary wine and cheese hour from 5-6, but we had just got to the property and wanted to relax before dinner so we opted to skip it. There is also complimentary coffee each morning off the lobby. Once at the restaurant we were treated to an inviting experience from the general manager and our waitperson. Everyone was friendly and attentive during the meal. We noshed on rib eye steaks served with mashed spuds and green beans. For dessert their strawberry pie is served with a graham cracker crust and fresh whipped cream- amazingly fresh and delicious! I ordered the creme brûlée with shortbread cookies. I think those cookies were the highlight of my meal - buttery, light melt in your mouth delicious! The grounds are fabulous to lounge around after dinner and hang out. Two fire pits, one is located by the bar and the other by the pool and infinity hot tub. This was a special treat and I know we felt it during the whole experience. My mister loved the massage, the infinity hot tub overlooks the views of Doran Beach and sets you up to relax, have a drink of wine, and enjoy natures beauty in style. I highly recommend this for a close get away with friends, loved ones, whatever the occasion. Luxury close by with a stellar view and staff who are friendly and ready to help.

I really did enjoy the owner coming out to talk to us about matcha. The stuff comes directly from their home town at the foot of Mount Fuji. While other matcha houses have shortages, they have a steady supply here. Otherwise they get on the phone, and mom and pop walk over to the supplier to see what's up. Tables were nicely set up. Met sevral nice people. Don't you love yelp events? Had a nice chat with the person across from me. Then talked at length to the person on my left. I love matcha, so this Lunch & Learn at Ryokucha Cafe on Friday, November 14, 2025, definitely piqued my interest. I arrived at the storefront at exactly the 12:30 PM start time; however, their tiny parking lot was completely full, so I had to drive around the block a couple of times to find street parking. I later learned that the adjacent underground garage was available for us to use. Wish that information was shared with us in the email. Luckily, I was only five minutes late to the event. I don't like being tardy. Upon arrival, I was greeted at the check-in table, showed my attendee QR code Party pass, and grabbed a yelp sleep mask. A small table and three chairs were added to an existing table of yelp participants to seat Yikai and Fumika, my new yelp friends whom I met here, and me. Boxes of individual packs of baked buns from Sheng Kee Bakery were available for grabs at a table by the front counter. This was our lunch. I picked a hot dog bun and a pork bun both of which were super soft. Shortly after being seated, we were given another yelp gift, a nice food container with accompanying eating utensils. I envisioned the event to be similar to a wine tasting where all of the small drinks are pre-poured in small cups and presented on a tray with labels for each and a host speaks on each as you sip them. Instead, as each beverage was made, the pours were done at the table. It wasn't the most organized flow, but it was steady. Our table, or at least the end where I was sitting, didn't hear of any talks on the origins, preparation, nor health benefits of matcha, which was no big deal to my tablemates nor me since we were engulfed in socializing and sharing our opinions of each sip with one another. The experience was definitely all about matcha. After snacking on Sheng Kee buns, we were served a tiny scoop of Matcha Soft Serve, an array of generous sips of Ryokucha's signature matcha drinks, and a sample of their Hojicha Latte. Below are all of the items that we got to try: Macha Soft Serve - Made with real milk. I took a Lactaid and enjoyed this. Blueberry Matcha Latte - This was Naomi's (another new yelp friend whom I met here) favourite. At initial sip, Yikai exclaimed, "Whoa! That is special! Very unique. Definitely good, but sweet." I liked this drink, too, but didn't find it to be very sweet, which was great. Banana Cream Matcha Latte - Naomi was not a fan of the version made with oat milk, citing the chalky, powdery texture. She preferred this made with real milk. Initially, Yikai skipped this sample, but Naomi and I insisted that he taste this one because it was not sweet. The banana flavour really came through, but it didn't make it to the top of my list. Mango Matcha Latte - I really tasted the mango here, too, but the drink was a bit too sweet for me. I didn't hear anyone else comment on this one. Strawberry Matcha Latte - This was also good, but on the sweet side. Yikai commented, "Interesting. You can see strawberry chunks." Hojicha Latte - After his initial sip, Yikai said that "they keep bringing more and more unique stuff." I enjoyed the warm, toasty flavour of this roasted Japanese green tea. This won the top drink of the day vote from Yikai and me and I ordered it for my complimentary drink item, 50% sweet and made with almond milk. Yikai said that even 50% would be too sweet for him. I didn't expect it to be since the sample tasting I had wasn't very sweet at all. Welp, in the end, I agreed with Yikai - perhaps I should have asked for zero sweetness because the 50% ended up to be too sweet for me as the ice melted that I ended up giving my beverage to DJ. He said that he liked the flavour. Perhaps, during the tasting, I didn't find the Hojicha Latte to be very sweet because it was the last sample I tried...after the others which were much sweeter. What a great way to bring together people with similar interests like tasting and rating edibles and potables. It was a rare time for me to enjoy taking shots and notes on served items without someone growing impatient with my yelping (a.k.a. family). Come on yelp friends, you know what I am talking about, right? I can't be the only one on here who feels pressured to snap shots within half a second, so that others can dive in! Needless to say, I had a great time, meeting and mingling with yelpers over shots of Japanese tea. Shout out to Ryokucha Cafe for a welcoming and fun event. A million thanks Paolo for looking out for me, ensuring that my drinks were made with milk alternatives.

OMG what an amazing experience!…read more I took a longish break from the Elite life (a pandemic and a child can do this to you ;-)) but couldn't take missing out on those fantastic events any longer!!! So, I'm back and started my Elite Life 2.0 with a bang. I've been dabbling in Pilates and especially the reformer exercises for a while now and am still trying to find a studio/space/community that works for me. Guys, I might have found my place. The studio is so zen and beautifully done. Six reformers and a lot of weight training equipment. Right after entering the space, you feel calm and happy. The vibe is welcoming, the people super friendly and Nati is simply a gem. Being a bigger gal, I'm always a bit insecure when entering a new workout environment. Only when I left the studio, I realized that I felt comfortable the entire time before, during and after the workout. It really is a judgement free zone and Nati gives alternatives for the more challenging exercises, so everyone can do them. I chose the reformer only class to get into it, but I will definitely be back and try the reformer/strength training combination session as well to see which one is a better fit. Or keep mixing it up? I will find out. But one thing is sure, I will return and train with Nati and this great community. Thanks yelp for a great workout experience (and for the sweet swag)!

She showed us how to prepare delicious Spanish tapas from the comfort of our own kitchens. Prepared tonight were Sautéed Shrimp with Chorizo and Fried Goat Cheese and Olive Salad with Sherry Vinaigrette. We were emailed the ingredients and were encouraged to purchase them beforehand so we can follow along with the Chef but I chose to be a spectator as I know I would fall behind trying to follow. It would've been nice if we also had the step by step instructions that included with the recipe so we can try making it at our own pace. The event was very interactive and many Yelpers had great questions, suggestions, and stories to share as they got on chat while Chef Julie prepared the featured dishes. Wish the smell wasn't virtual as all the ingredients came together and the finished product looked so delicious. Wine recommendations to pair with the meals were also suggested. It was fun hanging out with fellow Yelpers and seeing Nina Z, Mitzi, Al, CM Kevin B (of course) and seeing Paolo B (CM in the Peninsula area). Review #1807
