I was intrigued by the healthy vegetarian vibe. It's conveniently located near the Saint Lazare train station. This works a bit like a cafeteria or Pret-A-Manger. They have meal deals where you can get an entree, side and drink, or you can purchase items a la carte. I opted for a fresh cod bowl with a side lentil salad. If you don't like lentils, avoid this place. It seemed like almost everything had lentils in it! This could've been because we arrived late at night, right before closing, and there weren't a lot of options still available that late in the day. They have a microwave with reheating instructions so you'll get it perfect. Plenty of seating, and they sell wine and beer too. Credit cards are accepted and even if you don't speak French, you can figure out how everything works here. I mean, you see your food before you purchase it so that removes a bit of the language barrier. Clean with friendly employees and reasonable portions. A great place if you're a vegan or vegetarian, and even meat eaters looking for healthy options will like this. It's not worth a special trip to eat here (since Paris is the world's culinary capital after all), but even in this city everyday fast food is still a mini gourmet experience.

It gets busy pretty quickly after opening but showing up right at noon or making a reservation seems to do the trick. Many people are taking food to go anyway. The food was fantastic, so many salad options and a bunch of different savory tarts. You can pair the two together for an inexpensive, filling and delightful meal. The waitstaff was very patient with our limited French, and took the time to tell us what on the menu was vegetarian and what wasn't. And the majority of it was vegetarian! On top of it all, the restaurant itself was adorable.

I say "salad" but don't go thinking boring lettuce and pasta. Their salad bases range from sweet potato to quinoa to baby spinach. I've tried to reserve a table on multiple occasions, but they never seem to pick up the phone. Whenever I show up (at twelve on the dot, since it gets packed 'til there's no breathing room), the waitresses give me a quick scowl when I say "no reservation." By the time they seat me, their grudge is gone, and I've decided to order everything I saw at the counter on the way in. It all looks that good. I usually make a choice along the lines of two salads (you can get more), and maybe a tarte (quiche, pizza slice, Spanish-style tortilla composed of various vegetables). There are lots of assortments; you can even get a third salad. There are dishes of the day, options like chicken scaloppini (best to get with only one salad, as those breaded hunks are thick), mouthwatering cakes and other desserts that will tempt you on the way in, and a variety of sweet artisanal beverages. Don't bother with the funky flavored scones--they're small, overpriced, and not very tasty. Pro tip: sit on the ground floor if you can. The windowless basement seating area gets crowded and loud. Or, better yet, get your salads to go and eat them in the neighboring park!

A few other parties trickled in through the course of our meal. The menu has many appealing dishes but after narrowing everything down, GF ordered the onion soup and seitan bourguignon. I ordered a vegan "roast" with the side of potatoes. I'm not going to bullshit you, nobody is going to confuse this onion soup for the real deal but once you get past that, it was absolutely excellent. You're hearing this from someone who doesn't like onions or beef broth. I wanted to just try it but ended up funneling half of it down my gullet. The roast was pretty good, as were the potatoes and what I assume was a creamy cauliflower "salad" like side. It was nothing earth shattering but enjoyable and I really appreciated having a vegan meal considering the vast majority of the offerings in this city. Regarding the beef bourguignon, GF says: "it was very tasty". I will add that the service was...just ok. It was pretty quick and prompt but in stark contrast to the welcoming and friendly service received elsewhere in the city.

The Tofu Tout Flamme was one of their Buddha Bowls that caught my attention pretty quickly - I was intrigued by the fact that it is served over sticky rice, which is one favorite kinds of rice. It also had shiitake mushrooms in a saté sauce, marinated tofu, kobacha squash, plantains, and fresh greens. I definitely enjoyed every single bite. The small bowl was perfect for a light lunch. I like when places give you the option of small and large portions, so that you don't end up spending money on food that you're not going to eat and will end up going to waste. Many other items on the menu looked fantastic, too, so this will definitely be a place I come back to next time I'm in Paris.

When I asked why, she said, "They're crunchy." My eyes lit up. As a vegan I crave crunchy food because so much plant-based food is soft. Evian was right! This roll had texture. It was beautifully presented in eight pieces. Upon the first yummy bite it was apparent this was cooking at another level. The fry was perfectly light and clean. Each bite substantial. The taste memorable. I have never had a sushi roll like it and now I want to live inside the restaurant so I can have it forever. We also got five pieces of the yummy Seitan Crispy, which comes with a lovely Doenjang sauce, that is thick and flavorful. These unique, protein boosts are also cleanly fried, delectable and filling. Lastly, my husband got the small BBQ Donburi which was a bowl of rice, a flavorful bbq soy protein, and some mesclum. He loved it. We sat outside on the lovely side street and chatted with Evian who made our dinner a memorable experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and wish I could bring it back to America.
