It was fairly busy on a weeknight which is great for a small business. There were so many things I wanted to try on the menu but I'll just have to make another trip here. It didn't take long for the food to come out, we also ordered a sashimi platter which I didn't take a photo of because we devoured it. The sashimi pieces were nice and fresh which made it very easy to eat. The tempura udon noodles were perfect and delicious. Great for a cold Melbourne's day. It is clearly in direct competition with Shiranui, which is located closer to the main part of the shops, but if you've managed to get a park close to Century City, or if you're after Japanese cuisine impulsively and without booking, you're better off dining at Yokohama. The food is really quite good, if a bit expensive. My preferred dish is beef teriyaki, which is absolutely delicious. It's $27.50, so it isn't outrageous, but I've had equally good beef teriyaki for a bit less than that elsewhere. Maybe it's just my impression that the serving size was a little on the small side for that price. The service is good, with polite waiters and waitresses who are attentive to the customers. The décor is neatly laid out, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I've got terrible hearing, so most places I go, I need to strain to join in conversation with my friends, and even then, I miss half the conversation. This isn't much of a problem at Yokohama Teppanyaki, even when it's busy.

The menu changes for lunch and I didn't enjoy the lunch as much as dinner. We had a birthday lunch there and the food took too long to come out and was a bit inconsistent and the tempura was soggy and oily. It's been enjoyable otherwise at dinner time. What I do love is the prawn and avocado sushi rolls that are often served warm which I really enjoy and order every time. The chicken and egg in a mini hot pot is also another item we always order. Gyoza is also quite enjoyable. Serving sizes are on the smaller side so better to order a few dishes to share and order more as you go.

China Bar Signature is a buffet of Asian cuisines. They have towers of Yum Cha style dumplings, soups, rice, sushi, seafood, traditional meat dishes, duck, Asian flavored ice creams/desserts and much much more. There is freshly cooked food constantly pouring out of the kitchen and into the serving trays as this place becomes over popular and busy at night. The Yum Cha dumplings are always a hit and people can be seen walking back to their tables with 5 or so bamboo steamers stacked up. Don't worry; the kitchen works hard so if they are out of something, it'll probably be back within a few minuets. The food here is tasty and satisfying, but like most buffets the quality isn't the best out there. I definitely would still suggest coming here at least once- just to try it out. The atmosphere is very lively and loud thanks to the hoards people. When I came I found the table service to be very quick...but too quick, they were trying to take away my plate before I had even finished it (this happened a few times). The only other downfall is the size of the plates. They were saucers rather than plates; you could hardly fit food on it, which meant multiple trips to the stations. Back then I throughly enjoyed eating there. Today that smell of the seaweed is no more. But regardless their slogan: 'Years to master, seconds to devour' truly stands strong. We succumb to resist this beautiful sushi. One that is extreme delicate and rich in flavour. The sushi here is always very clean, properly constructed and cooked. It has a spectacular consistency. The sushi has never been dry or crusty. Or it has never been soggy and sloppy. It has always been perfect, it stands alone against all other companies. Whilst however, the price has increased dramatically due to inflation, this does not single out this branch. As all other sushi companies try to relatively sell at this point. These circumstances overlap their prices. Furthermore, sushi has kind staff, a very bright and attractive store and brand. I enjoy the tuna avocado, salmon avocado, chicken teriyaki and various others. Their alternatives of sushi are also quite excellent, at a reasonable price. The sashimi taste fresh and elegant. In my opinion, this is the best sushi brand in Australia. It definitely beats out the other competitors, it's the most delicious and oldest. The first pioneers of such great good, quality food.
