It's a small family run business and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. I made sure to make a booking as I didn't want to turn up disappointed without a seat. It was fairly busy on a weeknight which is great for a small business. There were so many things I wanted to try on the menu but I'll just have to make another trip here. It didn't take long for the food to come out, we also ordered a sashimi platter which I didn't take a photo of because we devoured it. The sashimi pieces were nice and fresh which made it very easy to eat. The tempura udon noodles were perfect and delicious. Great for a cold Melbourne's day. It complimented well with the umeshu jelly drink. I will definitely be coming back here again

The food is really quite good, if a bit expensive. My preferred dish is beef teriyaki, which is absolutely delicious. It's $27.50, so it isn't outrageous, but I've had equally good beef teriyaki for a bit less than that elsewhere. Maybe it's just my impression that the serving size was a little on the small side for that price. The service is good, with polite waiters and waitresses who are attentive to the customers. The décor is neatly laid out, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I've got terrible hearing, so most places I go, I need to strain to join in conversation with my friends, and even then, I miss half the conversation. This isn't much of a problem at Yokohama Teppanyaki, even when it's busy.
