I've had the pleasure of sending multiple children to LGM over the last 7 years from their 2 year old "Discoverer's" program through their 3-5 year old Pre-K program -- and have never thought twice about sending our kids elsewhere. If you are interested in Montessori, it's true Montessori. (Note: being a Montessori school/kid doesn't mean stale/sterile learning environments!! It's engaging, fun, and has all the normal aspects of a pre-school but within a beautiful structure). If you are interested in academics, my kids all went to Kindergarten at public schools after LGM and were reading and had math skills ahead of the curve. There aren't a lot of classes that my daughter is willing to give up her Saturday mornings for but we have zero problems getting her excited about Science Saturdays. Miss Carmen is an engaging instructor that makes science fun. Each Saturday has a different theme. There is a lot of discussion around each theme, experiments, a snack, and typically a take home activity. I am always amazed at what my daughter has learned in the span of 2 hours of Kiddie Science. It's a great program for children that love science, children that have a billion questions about everything, and as a supplement to regular elementary education. Miss Carmen also holds family workshops throughout the year that are always tons of fun for both kids and parents. We enjoy Kiddie Science so much that we had Miss Carmen come and do science experiments at our daughter's 5th birthday. It was a huge hit!

He also expects me to invest time outside of class. We speak only French during our session (using English only when necessary to explain something difficult). Malaika Anaya's student was aggressive and full of contempt. As per Anaya's student to my daughter, "I don't like you, and everything about you screaming. And You better not do it again, because I don't like that." Anaya's student tone was aggressive, and she walked away after the statement. My two years old daughter felt scared and intimidated after that confrontation and did not even want to enter the dance room, studio 1 When I told Malaika Anaya about her student at statement towards my daughter, her exact words were "ok" . I also inform Anaya that my daughter is only 2 years old and a 4 years old should not be addressing a 2 years old, her response was "ok". It was dismissive and it was a miss opportunity to address her daughter's open contempt, and verbal assault on my daughter. Anaya response of "ok" normalize harmful attitudes, which can eventually escalate to physical violence. Anaya is "ok" with preschool age students telling babies they are disliked,bullying. Anaya lack of compassion, callous and uncaring response is a liability to your organization. Malaika Anaya is a liability, and should not be left alone with kids. Her lack of insight, and unwillingness to directly address her own daughter is dangerous. Bullying is not something you take lightly. Also, I would like to add a precursor to violence is poor conflict resolution. I will be posting this online, so future parents can use this incidents as evident/ reflecting a pattern of Anaya. Also, when I was leaving the class the instructor tried to humiliate me by stating thank you for signing up for the trials. I signed up for the course and paid for both my kids to take the class. Seems like she was trying to imply something about my social economic status.

The 2 hours whizzed by, and Jessie was really friendly and great and giving and showing instructions. She was also very patient with students' questions. The ornaments ended up being so cute from everyone, we were all thoroughly impressed by everyone's work. A lot of us, including me, didn't finish the entire project during class, so we got to take home the supplies we'd need to finish at home. Jessie made sure we had the supplies and knowledge/skills so that we'd succeed at home with finishing up. The studio is nice and cozy, there were about 16 participants of mixed genders and ages. It was really fun, and we can't wait to try more classes!

I recently took a goat milk soap making class here and overall had an enjoyable experience. That said, there were a few organizational issues that took away from the experience. The class started late because the instructor chose to wait and see if more people would trickle in, which felt disrespectful to those of us who arrived on time. I also wish there had been clearer communication beforehand about supplies. We weren't told that we could bring our own molds, and the only molds provided were small condiment containers, which resulted in some pretty awkward and unattractive soap shapes. Better molds or advance notice would have made a big difference. It also would have been helpful if instructions or an overview of the process had been emailed ahead of time or posted on the class listing so participants knew what to expect. Additionally, a few of the soap mix-ins were unavailable. This wasn't a major issue, but it did add to the impression that the class was a bit underprepared. Overall, I still enjoyed the class and learned a lot, thanks largely to the instructor's expertise and friendliness. With better preparation and clearer communication for students, this could easily be a great experience rather than just a good one.

I asked the guy behind the counter if this was the extent of the selection they had. "Yes, clearly, that's all we have," he said, as if it was impossible that they had more in the back or that polite customer service still exists. I told him I'd called earlier and been told there was a good variety. He said he only works here two days a week. I told him I thought I could do better elsewhere and left. He told me to have a nice day. Sorry, dude--go work in the Simpsons' comic book store! Your snark and rudeness have no place in a nice neighborhood spot like this.

On a rainy night I decided to step out. I saw a post for a wine tasting on instagram and reserved a…read morespot a few weeks before. For years I've lived in the neighborhood and told myself I'd check out PLG but it always felt too far to walk for booze or wine. The wine tasting was on a Wednesday or Thursday night and I had work the next day. Oy! But I got off the couch and into the rain and went! On arrival I joined the rest of the group that had gathered. Tons of people from the neighborhood and I immediately turn on my charm and talk. I'm pretty good at it. Been working on it for years. Ha. Everyone received a paper of the wines we'd be tasting and a glass. There were much more to taste than I had expected. The order structured to compliment your palate. Soft sparkling bubbles, funky cloudy wine that tasted like a cider, robust fruity reds, dry and complex whites, a rose for good measure. Knowledge was shared by the host aka the wine expert. And I walked away later on that evening with a bag full of spirits, great memories, and feeling the spirit . I stayed behind with a few folks and got to taste the good stuff. This was my son's first experience at a theater camp and we couldn't have asked for a better…read moreprogram. The teachers were amazing and both challenged and nurtured my son while teaching him dancing, singing and acting as well running a full scale musical production. The play itself was very impressive and they definitely knew how to maximize the talent and potential of all of the kids. This camp has definitely created a true love of theater in my child and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get more comfortable on stage or enhance their theater skills.
