After researching the school's philosophy and considering some of our own personal experiences with the Goddard franchise, we made our decision. While waiting for opening day our son attended a different preschool and as kids will do, he picked up some negative behaviors and began saying he did not like school or learning. This was obviously very upsetting for all of us. However, within just a few weeks at Goddard we noticed a huge difference in him. He now loves school and we no longer have morning struggles and tears. He runs into the classroom each morning with excitement. His teacher is absolutely amazing and having the owners onsite and involved makes a big difference as well. The school is clean and bright and welcoming. We are so glad to be a part of the Goddard family!

Prior to the pandemic, my oldest daughter had attended the school, so I am able to compare. My first daughter's pre-pandemic experience there was good, however my second daughter's experience was terrible. It started with a few months after enrolling her there I found out for two months they had been serving her the frozen lunch I was sending her to school with. They were no longer heating up lunches in the microwave like my first daughter. I found out from my second daughter telling me why she didn't eat her lunch "it was too cold." For two months they had been giving her frozen chicken nuggets and it was my fault (after confronting them) because we did not see the message that lunches were no longer being heated. Next, when I would pick up my daughter the teacher, or helper was coming out and saying she had a bad day today. I was clueless until after a few weeks of this she refused to go back (and I mean refused). She had lost all confidence to go anywhere or see any strangers. It was terrible. We took her to see help and we were told that she had gone through a regression, like a three-year-old going back to a one and a half year old. Confronted the school and they said it was her fault, she doesn't listen and goes around the classroom. That sounded like all three year old to us. We asked the school for her teacher to meet us and show affection to her, but she was cold to her. We felt so bad for her we took her out of the school. It took us months to bring her confidence and self esteem back. When I grew up a three year old was accepted unconditionally and supported to stand on their own. Not so at this place.

I taught this class on a Saturday morning and usually, in my experience, I get a lot of tired people who really don't care but this was not the case here. Everyone paid close attention to all of my instructions and were engaged throughout the course. It really was a pleasure to work with professionals who obviously wanted to learn how to save a childs life. I was a first time mom and didn't know of another place that would be so close or affordable. I kept my daughter here, truly for the convenience of distance and price rate. However, many times I would have normal questions I would think a typical parent of a 1-2 year old can have and there were times they didn't have an answer for me. Sometimes they were not willing to accommodate our family needs, yet that's part of what they claim they stand for. Please understand that my daughter was always happy to go there because of her teachers. The teachers do the best they can, but they lack appropriate training and sometimes resources. My biggest issue was with management. From my personal experience, since I am a teacher myself and deal with parents and here management was never the most professional with me as a parent. It really hurt me that we felt pushed out. They wouldn't accommodate my schedule and didn't guarantee me a spot for my daughter. They said they would let me know in advance and never did, which led me to find another school and know about my options, because they wouldn't give me an answer. As far as academics is concerned, my daughter didn't learn much there. They would play all day, hence she was always happy to go. I never saw a real progress in her learning. The administration was never willing to accommodate a family who had already been there for 2 years. They didn't care about losing us and pushed us out. Another issue was that there was no one you can take formal concerns to. They were all extremely close at a personal level and I knew I would not be heard. I would only recommend this place for your child's care if you want them to play all day and you want good rates. But be aware if you are 5 minutes late, you will be charge per half hour. I have to be honest as I never felt my daughter was neglected or in danger, but definitely didn't get the best educational experience there. This place could be a better place for families around BR if they take a better business management approach, which they have lack of.

Our main priority was that our kids would be able to speak Spanish confidently and build relationships with the Spanish speaking side of their family that lives abroad. Well, we got that and so much more! The teachers at HudsonWay are irreplaceable. Their Spanish teachers are all native speakers from different countries and they each bring a warmth and special touch unique to their cultures. Their English and Math teachers are top notch. Because of the smaller class sizes, the teachers are able to provide a much more individualized approach to teaching and provide each student with what they need. They are also always available and happy to connect with parents. My kids have really enjoyed the engaging activities, projects and presentations which increase in complexity and rigor each grade level. As a parent, I too have enjoyed them, as we are invited in to see presentations and projects multiple times throughout the year. The community is tight knit and the parent board is very active in providing additional activities and experiences for the students and families. HudsonWay is comprised of families from all different backgrounds and walks of life, but at the same time, there is a common thread that runs through the community which is valuing language and learning. This makes HudsonWay a unique and special place; we are a diverse group in so many ways with a common cause bringing us together. Although my kids are in the Spanish program, they have friends in the Mandarin program as well as they are together for English, Art, Music, Phys Ed and more. My child is in the infant class at AMS, and I am very pleased with my experience. We joined at the…read morebeginning of the school year, and we are so happy to see how our child is learning and developing at school. I can see how much the teachers care for our child - they provide me with daily updates via the portal, take time to speak with me at pickup and dropoff, address my questions and requests, and call me if they have any concerns. I see how much the teachers genuinely care for my child and the other children in the class. It is great to see my child also enjoy and connect with the teachers. I love the crafts and development activities the teachers do throughout the week - and appreciate the pictures we receive of our child participating in class activities. The parent portal and video cameras (extra cost) in the class are great because we get to check in on a regular basis to see how our child and class is going. Also, the infant head teachers are well qualified with degrees in early childhood education which is good to see at the infant age. The school offers great hours, a coverage calendar for daycare kids that is very friendly for working parents, and reasonable tuition costs. I do think there are administration opportunities of improvement for parents and teachers to connect - mixers, parent days with the kids, etc. Sometimes school emails and notifications are delayed. I also notice the grounds can be better kept. For example, the pumpkin decor from the fall is still up in January. Nevertheless, I have a sense of peace and calm when I drop off my child at AMS - Warren because I am happy with the staff, wonderful class teachers and know my child is happy, loved and safe.

I was surprised that everywhere on the internet, there were good reviews (this last one on Yelp wasn't there at the time). In addition to the messy situation in handling the health crisis, there are more important things to me. Maybe other small schools with substandard facilities (similar to Bamboo Shoots) also are facing similar problems with COVID19 --- although I am not sure how much you should try to get an admin person as confused as the poor Sylvia. However, not all schools are academically like this one. First of all, nothing too terrifying is going on. This is an average school providing mediocre education. I guess that other schools in the area (especially some underrated public schools) are on par with this one. The problem is that when I was taking my child to this school, I was expecting something better than the level of a bad public school. For instance, if it were comparable to a good public school, we would not be regretting our school choice. I thought this was an environment where my child would be academically challenged; provide the students with something stimulating at least some non-trivial level. That is, a place where 3,4,5-year-old children are treated with the appropriate attention (without exaggeration) and, importantly, not with indifference. These are the educational values that, in my view, should be embraced by a school for this age level. Unfortunately, Bamboo Shoots operates far away from any of these foundational education values. Importantly, all of the above are directly reflected in the child's happiness, intellectual and physical development, and overall growth. Thus, in this sense, Bamboo Shoots is not just academically mediocre, but rather a wrong choice a parent can make. I'm disappointed with this choice because, like every other, my child attends each class at school once (no second try, same as in other important things in life). When we made the school decision, we could have chosen another one from several other schools with a good reputation, such as the Genius Academy in Springfield. In retrospect, I regret not taking my kid somewhere else. You can't do much when it's too late.

The teachers and staff were constantly friendly and reassuring to this nagging first time mother who had a million questions and worries. I felt good leaving my baby with them and knew that she was happy and thriving. She was always happy to go to school and was happy when picked up . I was updated and kept informed about my child's progress in many different forms. I received a daily information sheet when she was young as well as a verbal update about daily life at pick up . As she got older there was a back to school night, organized social events(pre covid) and holiday events for me to be able to be involved as a parent. I was given opportunity's to speak with her teachers with parents teacher conferences twice a year to see how she was doing in more depth also . Everyone was always so nice . Once my child entered public school teachers complemented me on how ready and prepared she was for 1st grade with the knowledge of all the concepts she should have been introduced to. Those comments are what is prompting this review . I couldn't have done it without Bamboo Shoots ! I just Love them and can't say enough to express how much I appreciate the hard work they do for the children daily !
