Upstairs has tons of DVDs and CDs as well as other electrical items, clothes and toys. Downstairs is the food and drink as well as a great range of books and magazines. There's a deli section, too. There are usually special offers on all kinds of items, these are placed in prime viewing positions for anyone browsing. I recommend ASDA to any late-night shoppers. Though be warned, the tills shut down at 4am for ten or fifteen minutes, so you may be left standing around waiting for them if your timing is unfortunate.

On the other hand, I can't deny it is a good store with good prices. I regularly pop in there to buy some lunch - Honey Mustard & Chicken Pasta Salad (Tesco's own brand, I think) is delicious! - and a couple of bargain DVDs. I often pick up movies for £3 or £4.

There is also a Tesco petrol station across from the store by one of the entrances. The store is easily accessible by car or public transport. There are always plenty of bargains to be had. The staff are usually pretty helpful but I often find that the customer services desk is understaffed. The only other problem I have had it the rotation is stock is awful. I often find items that are very short dated or even out of date. Overall a good store with lots of choice but it's a shame it's taken so much of the business away from the main town centre but then if people in the town centre then the shops would still be open so it's a vicious circle.

This Tesco was built on the old 'Quarry Bank School' site in the late 1980's, if my memory is…read moreright. It started off being open 6 days a week - then added the Sunday. It is now a 24 hour store. In the Summer of 2008 it extended onto the University playing fields, with many protests from local people. It offers a Clothing Department, Garage, Tesco Direct, Pharmacy and an instore bakery. There are also lots of toys on offer. The car park is huge and there are plenty of Car Parking facilities for disabled people.

And this shop has a huge variety. It's about the size of a Home and Bargains, so there's far more variety than you'll find in corner fruit and veg shops, yet great prices and high quality. There is always an excellent mix of stall here selling produce such as sweets, plants, coffee, cheeses, specialist sausages, specialist meats, beers, smoothies, cakes, black & white pudding and much much more. Many of the stalls have free samples to try and the smell that emits from the market is delicious. The produce on sale is often more expensive than you would find in supermarkets but this is to be expected. The produce is of an excellent quality and you wont find many of the specialist items in supermarkets at all. This is a great addition to the Lark Lane community.

Drinkers mill about with students - presuming there's a difference between the two - and "dedicated followers of fashion". What a perfect place for a farmers market. This market, held on the last Saturday of every month, is bigger than its counterpart in Woolton Village, although it does suffer slightly in comparison as half of it is on the edge of busy Aigburth road. A great plant stall selling lovely and unusual bushes at very decent prices greets those who enter the market from Lark Lane. The kind of stall Woolton is missing out on. There's myriad cake and bakery stalls selling pasties, pies, pastries and bread and the ever present Savin Hill Farm meat stall, which sells sausages presumably butchered in Heaven. Last time I went, today (28 August), there was a fantastic flower stall with some of the sunniest sunflower bouquets I've ever seen for a mere £3. A very good place to visit every now and again, but it rarely changes, which is a shame.
