More importantly it was bizarrely difficult to get in touch with the staff when I arrived despite reception being 24/7. I had to buzz like 3 times at 5 in the morning and was panicking thinking I wasn't going to be able to get in. Well aware it's a weird time but when you advertise 24/7 reception I feel like I'm justified in being angry when I'm left in the cold with my suitcase for 15 minutes trying to get ahold of someone. On the plus side, beds were cozy and the neighborhood really couldn't be better. You're right down the street from the best museums in London and super close to the park. It feels remarkably safe and there are whatever stores and restaurants you could possibly want no more than a 15 minute walk away. I also accidentally left my laptop in the common area all night and it went completely untouched (table stakes to be fair but you never know). It's one of the cheaper hostels in London and considering that I would recommend if you're looking to save money.

3-night stay in 4-bed mixed dorm in March/April…read more The cafe area was so cute! When we arrived mid afternoon, there were so many people milling about on their laptops or chatting. It gave a pleasant feel. This is also the area you check-in at. The front-desk staff were very friendly and walked us through how to use our key cards and where things were located. The room looked like a dorm room, as expected, with bunk beds and lockers. We also had a private bathroom and shower, which I was pleasantly surprised about. We couldn't get the A/C to work, so we had to keep the windows cracked at all times. It would've been nice to be able to open the window completely for more airflow as it got stuffy/warm often. The beds are a place to sleep... don't expect much comfort. Loved the basement common areas! So much space and unique places to sit. It is also a bar at night with karaoke and lots of people mingling. Overall, it was a clean and fun hostel experience.

The Wombats at Budapest was 10 times better and that's the reason I chose to stay here, but I'm disappointed.

Unlike most hostels I've stayed at the sheets are already put on my bed and they were clean. The building is newly renovated and everything is nice and new. They also have pay for internet (1 Pound for 20 minutes) and laundry facility's (4 Pounds for a load) One of the best features that I enjoyed while staying here was the fact that you can buy discount tickets for plays and attractions all throughout London at a discounted rate.

The wifi worked pretty well, though only available on the ground floor bar and restaurant area and the 1st floor, where there is a lounge.

The location is outstanding -- in the heart of Bloomsbury, down the street from Russell Square, five minutes from the British Museum and the University of London. Now, I am very glad that I did!! Sohostel was great. The moment I walked through the door, the receptionists were super friendly and even gave me a tour of the building and showed me to my room. Everything is just so colorful and vibrant - Just the design itself makes you feel comfortable and safe there! They had a lovely lounge room, with a giant projector screen, a snack bar and a bunch of people mingling and hanging out. I had a room with two bunk beds and it was TINY. Basically, the only place you can be is in your bed. But I didn't have a problem with that. What I loved was that there were electric outlets for each bunk, top and bottom, with USB's as well (great for international travelers!) As for location, it's in a great spot. Right in Soho and near Piccadilly Circus, many bars around, a park....I could go on. Only about a 20 minute walk to the big attractions. The price is incredibly cheap as well.. The business has a small front reception area…read more We arrived after a long, long day. The front desk staff was so kind. We were a party of 3. The rooms are small, which was fine since we planned on site seeing and crashing after. We visited for a few days. Each day, the location was clean and quiet. The view outside was of other buildings. Windows are a little outdated but were expected. We had extra toiletries to accommodate all of us. Enough towels (few in closet) were provided and enough for all of us. Location. Within a few minutes of small stores, train station and landmarks. Staff assisted with the location on a map to get to the Hop on/Hop off bus. The front desk staff also assisted with contacting a driver to the cruise pier that was several hours away. The hotel location has a breakfast you can pay for if you decide. We walked through the breakfast options first, and they just added it to our hotel room upon checking out. The front desk has a vending machine with water and a snack. You will need change with pounds or credit card. I was only able to purchase one thing at a time, but it could have been a user issue, lol. Things to know The room has a teapot with tea/coffee. Also, cream-sugar. Along with a cookie. Bring the European plug for electronic. Some of the plugs are located in areas that may need longer chargers. Bring walking shoes. Some roads are cobblestone.

Bonus points for the complimentary chocolate chip biscuit. - The toiletries included a tiny little scrubby hemp loofa. - The lotion and toiletries were nicely fragrant (but not moisturizing... if you're a dry skin person, be aware of this). - Excellent shower and water pressure. - They received some merch boxes shipped directly to the hotel for a trade show we were in town for with no problems, though please arrange this ahead of time and don't just send 400 mystery packages to the hotel without them confirming. I was worried that the room would be noisy considering it was next to a church, but I heard zero noise. CONS: Just one. Why does the bathroom have a frosted door. Never do this. I don't want to know anything going on in the bathroom. All that being said, absolutely stay here. The staff, service, and room were fantastic. NOTES: The nearest station, Mansion House, DOES NOT have a lift/elevator. If you have luggage, or anything heavy, this will be a nightmare dragging them up the stairs.
