While visiting a friend in Mt Vernon she treated me to a massage by her favorite local therapist. My friend knows I'm super particular and basically a muscle bound mess as I hold stress inward as opposed to the alternative. I was met by a friendly receptionist, offered a warm pack for my neck and then introduced to Robert. I was pre-warned that Robert was imposing of stature and very knowledgeable in his trade. He greeted me with a warm country drawl that is as soothing and inviting as his workspace. My space for the next hour! I will say that normally if I cannot get in for a 90 min session I just as soon not have one. Most therapist just begin to break through my ridiculous fascia/muscles by the 50th minute. When Robert was finished I thought I had actually been there for an hour and a half. He was able work literally magic on me. I was so impressed that I would actually give up a few of my sessions in Cali to fly here for one of his! If I can give him a six starI would!

Be prepared to be vocal about what you do and don't want. A little weird to have an up charge for coffin shaped nails and matte finish. The fill wasn't too thick, which I appreciated, shaping was pretty consistent, but my cuticles definitely got a bit ripped up during the shaping. When it came to polish, the attention to detail was lacking. The polish pooled to the sides of my nails, the matte finish didn't go all the way to the bottom and they didn't do the tips. When I asked them to fix the mistakes, they did a pretty decent cleanup job given the cleanup needed. Not perfect, but decent as you can see in the photo. I'm definitely happy going back knowing I will be supporting a local business.

Nail tech was so confused that I didn't want him to take the top layer of my nail off with the electric file since I just wanted regular polish. Always awkward, but got it across. Then, I legitimately watched a grown man (that was an employee) sit right next to the pedicure chair I was in next to the front window and pick his nose for a solid minute straight; as far back as he could get with all the twists. He finally got what he was searching for and flicked it on the ground; and then went back for more. Another almost full minute just enthralled in the video on his phone without a care in the world, digging for the deepest gold. I was literally staring at this point. He then finds more, looks up from the phone, wipes it on his apron and then gets up and walks off, when he sees me looking at him with a horribly disgusted and about to gag look on my face. Next person that came in, he came out of the back to perform their service. My nail tech did give a great lower leg massage, so that was the positive part but he also made both of my cuticles on my big toes bleed quite a bit and then immediately sprayed rubbing alcohol all over them to, I guess try to stop the bleeding, but of course, it felt like fire in my toes. Yikes. Do better, friends. First time here. Last time here. Hope your experience is better.
