The way in which she spoke to my kids, her teenage staff members and me as a parent was absolutely appalling to say the least. Her attitude in person and via email was not professional AT ALL and I was disgusted by her behavior. I feel bad for her staff members who have to deal with that every day. I will not be recommending this camp to anyone and my kids will not be enrolling again. It's too bad it ended up this way, we spent a lot of money for my kids to be picked up crying everyday because of her.

It is one of the most reasonably priced camps in the city and it gets "city" kids outside, taking care of farm animals, something they wouldn't normally get exposed to. They also get to learn to ride a horse which is a bonus. The farm is on a beautiful piece of property in Corbett (there is a bus so you don't have to drive out twice a day) and there are tons of animals, barns, a small schoolhouse and a farm store. I have grown much more comfortable getting my kids outside in most weather conditions with the right gear. So even when it is terribly cold out, all bundled up my son LOVES being outside at school. I love the mixture of learning with nature (he loves exploring) and typical educational things like letters and numbers. He was very timid and had trust issues with past teachers which would cause him to progress/regress depending on the teacher's approach. He has thrived since coming to the lessons at Hood. I first learned of Journey through a friend when my daughter was just a toddler. Her first…read moreencounter was watching the shows, which she absolutely loved! All the shows are top notch productions--my mother has said that they exceed her expectations for what she would expect at the 5th Avenue. The best part is that all shows are cast with students from the program. When our daughter turned 6, she begged to join the Journey Troupers. She has not missed a class or camp since in the last 5 years. A veteran family of seven shows now, we are hooked. This is the most interesting and challenging volunteer work I've participated in--I have learned and grown as much as my daughter. The staff is amazing and all the families and volunteers are pulling for one another. The classes teach students foundational and advanced skills alongside what it means to be a good citizen and team player. It is a magnificent confidence builder for any child. Because the students cast and crew all of the productions during the year, even the most stage shy kids can play a role backstage or onstage. I'm so glad we found Journey and look forward to many more years to come.

I have been going to trackers since I was five, and this summer, which will be my last year, has…read morebeen by far my favorite. I have gone to realms overnights week one and three this summer, and my time there, especially week three, are magical memories I will remember forever. The instructors, Moss, Tazio, Esper, Lux, Max, Lenni, and the camp director, Lauren, made my time at realms special. These individuals taught me new skills, allowed me to test, explore, and then improve my own capabilities, and supported me throughout the entire week. I could not have asked for a better group of counselors, and while never attending a week of overnights with Esper and Lenni before, I dearly hope they remain on overnights as their contributions to my experience were immeasurable. I also want to deeply thank Moss and Tazio for being so incredibly helpful, supportive, and kind. Additionally, the story instructor, Max, helped me create some of the most fun I have ever had. And finally, Lux has been and will always be a deep inspiration to me; they are someone I look up to and aspire to be. Overall, all the instructors, especially the new faces, Esper and Lenni, truly made this week one to remember.
