YogaLife is in South Edmonton Common, and the small store front is hiding a large and beautiful studio. The front of the studio has a tea lounge with couches, and there is a gentle smell of some aromatherapy in the air. There are benches and a large area to leave shoes and boots. You can check in for your class on an iPad at the front desk, and there are multiple studio rooms. There are change rooms with hooks for coats, sinks, washrooms and change stalls, and small lockers for valuables (be sure to bring your own lock!). I did my first visit with a friend and we got a short tour and explanation of the studio prior to the class. The whole studio feels very high end, and very welcoming. We picked a 75 minute Happy Hips class and it kicked my butt (literally)! The instructor was easy to follow, with excellent audio cues to guide us through the movements. I really appreciated this, as I'm not familiar with the names of all the yoga poses. The class had a perfect balance of stretching and warm up with strength movement, and I was sore for days afterwards (always a good sign). The class was completely full for a Tuesday night, and despite being new to yoga, I was never uncomfortable. It was a great experience and I'm hoping to try more classes soon.

Class length was one hour and it was a really good experience. Instructor had enough patience and knowledge to modify some movements if you start felling any type of discomfort. I brought my yoga mat but If you don't have one they can help you with one, same as if you need a lock for the lockers. They offer hot yoga and traditional yoga style, they have classes for all levels from beginners, intermediate, advanced. Also offer courses for kids, seniors, and prenatal sessions. Parking lot is available in front of the business. Full bathrooms with 3 showers each.

The prices are reasonable, punch cards and monthly drop-in passes are available, and there are many other sessions and retreats offered via the studio. There is also a small shop of yoga apparel and other wellness related items. In my experience the classes are quite mixed in terms of age range and gender, and are often quite busy, so arrive early to get your preferred floor space. I think it's usually about 20 people per drop-in class with plenty of room left. The website outlines exactly what classes are offered when, with a calendar that's usually for 2 months at a time. I would give Yoga Within 5 stars save for the following things: - very few to no classes Fri-Sun from noon onwards - slow check-in, one staff dealing with 40+ people trying to register - poor soundproofing - lots of noise between studio rooms and from adjacent businesses, plus traffic noise from 75th Street 4 to 4.5 stars, there's something for everyone at Yoga Within!

Unfortunately it was a little bit noisy from the traffic outside. But other than that I would highly recommend it. I can't wait to go back and try other meditation or tibetan bowl classes. Have to say, it was one of the best massages I have ever had. I was able to do half sports therapeutic massage and half relaxation. I sit at a desk all day at work, so I get tight knotted back muscles, Carline was able to get all those loosened up. The ambience of the room is perfect, I do like it better than the old place I went to, as it was more dimly lit and added to the relaxation. Though just be warned, with the relaxing atmosphere and massage, it may be hard not to drift off in sleep ha. I'm happy to say that I have found a new regular massage therapist to get the kinks out of my muscles, and to just unwind/de-stress with a nice relaxing massage.

Prior to going they emailed me a five page form to fill out and bring. I walked there from Cloverdale to do some walking mediation before I started. The business is in an older building on Whyte Ave. There were long hallways and signs that guided you. I arrived in a long narrow reception office in the basement of the building. The receptionist greeted me and walked me through the process. Shower, dry face, float and shower when you hear the music. The tank was large and black. It seemed intimidating but I was up for it. Once left alone I put in my ear plugs and proceeded. I didn't know what to expect. It was unusual to completely float in the dark. I was able to open the door at anytime so that made me feel comfortable. I enjoyed the sensation of being weightless. It took a lot of effort to let my mind go. It kept grasping for ground so it was a practice in letting go for sure. The 60 mins went fast. When the music played and I got out I noticed salt all around my face. I took a good shower and drank lots of water. I really enjoyed this experience. The business is in a basement and I did not hear anything at all during the float. I would highly recommend you go into this with an open mind and be non judgemental about how your mind will react. This is a lovely business and I would like to make time for more.
