The vinyasa hot class was the power yoga class I was looking for. There are mirrors on 2 sides of the room to help with alignment and they had a cool towel for svasana. There are two studio spaces, the main area that looks over the lake is for the gentle classes and is blocked off from the store/entrance with a heavy curtain- so it could be challenging for easily distracted yogis. I joined the Vinyasa flow class and was very impressed. The yoga studio faces the lake and has a very calming atmosphere. The yoga instructor did a phenomenal job with guiding the class. I felt balanced, had a great full body workout and walked out energized. I do not usually review hot yoga studios because I am a Bikram yoga teacher and have some inherent bias. As I went to this studio as a visitor and paid full price, I feel comfortable reviewing Yoga on the Lake. Yoga on the Lake is a beautifully appointed hot yoga studio located in Kohler Wisconsin. If you're looking for any hot yoga in the nearest vicinity, this is the ONLY one within a 45 minute drive radius. The reception area has a boutique attached with the latest clothes from different yoga brands including Beyond Yoga. I imagined the prices would be reduced and this would be a local type of place but I was very wrong. Sale yoga clothes start at $90. A significant portion of people coming to the studio are tourists staying nearby at a luxury hotel. I was surprised that the studio doesn't offer a "traveler pass", which many studios in touristy areas do (all inclusive- includes towels, mats, classes for one week). I took an hour hot yoga class for $25. I paid $1 for mat and $1 for a towel. The "towels" available for rent are hand towels. I was so distracted with it in class that I asked for a bigger towel (cause you know- sweating on a cheap rental mat is a slipping hazard and also gross). She brings me another towel that is only slightly larger saying that they get their towels from a nearby gym. Hot yoga 101 - you have to have large enough towels to fit at least half of the mat. The teacher was very average. The class was small, with a few regulars. The novice instructor didn't say names, didn't offer corrections, and used part-Bikram dialogue with inaccurate and dangerous transitions. I didn't enjoy the instruction. The studio has two bathrooms. The toilet looks like it's made of gold and is very expensive with all the frills of automatic lifting, heated seats, etc. Clearly the investment is misplaced. There is a shower too, but with only a hand towel, it was hard to clean up after. I left the studio feeling very much like the vibe is pretentious and chose to drive elsewhere for future yoga. Overall, aesthetically nice studio which is sorely lacking in the basics of good teaching and towels. read more

My friend and I are on vacation in Kohler and staying at the resort as part of a girls trip package. Part of the package includes a yoga class at Yoga on the lake. This was my first yoga class (and probably my last) so I didn't really know what was going on, but it was easy to follow along. However, the instructor, Austin, kept drawing attention to my mistakes for the whole class to hear. I felt so judged, with other students laughing at his jokes about me, and honestly wanted to leave halfway through. It was inappropriate. Overall, not a great place to go as a beginner. read more

My favorite yoga studio anywhere. Beautiful studio with outstanding instructors. It is slightly more expensive than other studios in Sheboygan County, but they have so many class package options that it becomes very affordable. If you practice often the unlimited option is fantastic. Can't say enough about YOTL. read more

Came for a vinyasa class as part of an American Club package. The yoga itself was fine, but pounding music and miked shouting from the sculpt class in the other room not only changed the experience, but clearly communicated that our class wasn't important. If you're looking for a focused, thoughtful class, check the schedule in both rooms before you choose. read more

Love this place - it's my go-to Yoga spot in Sheboygan. The space is cute, and the classes are high quality without exception. (I mostly go to classes led by Jessica and love her approach.) Something to be aware of, though, is the heated floor. It makes it too easy to exceed your limits and injure yourself if you're not paying attention. read more

I've done yoga in studios across the US for 20 years and this was the oddest yoga experience I've had. On the positive side, the studio overlooking the lake was beautiful. There were two primary things I didn't like. The studio has two yoga rooms, and the lobby is completely open to one of them. There were about 20 of us waiting in the lobby for the 9:00 class while the 7:45 class was in savasana - I don't know how relaxed they could have been knowing others were watching them. My second issue was the lack of sound proofing between their yoga rooms. While the 7:45 class was in savasana, thumping music was blasting from the adjacent hot yoga room. We didn't have this issue with our 9:00 vinyasa class because our teacher blasted the music in our room as well. It drowned out the hot yoga thumping, but we could barely hear our teacher - I looked around the room multiple times during class and everyone was always doing different poses. It has the makings of a great studio, but it just misses (at least for vinyasa style classes). read more

Came to Kohler to relax and recover from a long illness. Walked into Yoga on the Lake and talked to Ashley who recommended the Restorative Yoga class. I came back later for the class and was warmly greeted again. The class was with Christine. It was great, in a lovely warm room with floor to ceiling windows that overlook a beautiful landscape and lake. The mats and props were clean and looked-like-new. After the class, I felt great and was more relaxed then I was from the massage I had at the spa the day before. read more

I would strongly recommend this studio! I attended Yoga Sculpt on a Saturday morning. It was a challenging class, but in a good way. As a first timer, I felt completely comfortable. The pace and intensity of the class allowed me to completely clear my mind. I agree with the previous review. I left the class more relaxed than the spa! read more
