I have struggled with severe lower back pain for 30+ years from a fractured vertebra, spondylolisthesis and herniated disc. I've had discectomy surgery, 18 mos of PT, massage and stretching and still pop NSAIDs almost every day to get to sleep and maintain my sanity. The constant pain impacts my ability to sit for long periods of time and affects my mood and limits activities. As a last resort and after a friend recommended me to try to Satya, I did. After the first group class, I decided yoga probably wasn't for me and then Amanda introduced me to her yoga stretch 1:1 session. So far, this has been the only thing that has had a more lasting impact without traditional medical intervention. The stretches activate the small, weak and frozen muscles in the lower back, pelvis, hips and buttocks that are not actively used and stretched in traditional stretching and PT strengthening. I've had a few days here and there where my pain has dropped to 1-2 / 10. This is only after 4 weeks, so I'm going to keep going to see if I can get off the pain killers altogether and to a less painful existence. Thank you, Amanda! read more

I love the studio and Mia and Leah are great. My kids come with me to every class and even though they cannot keep going the entire class they still get a good stretch for a couple of minutes. I been going to the beginners class more often that the Vinyasa; but both classes are great. Leah does put music for the background, which is great. Mask are required when you are in the studio, once you sit down you can take off your mask and 6 feet apart from each other. If you are not on your mat, we are required to wear mask at all times. read more

Wowow, I LOOOOVE this yoga studio! I just found them on ClassPass this week (sorry fellow ClassPassers, they are no longer on the site as of today, but they have their own app / site to book services through). Amanda and Colten are the owners of Satya (which means "truth"), and they both were very welcoming and showed me around the studio (which is super cute and homey) that's been around for 7/8 years now. They told me their classes are more therapeutic than fast-paced which is exactly what I've been looking for -- it's too easy to find a hollow, workout type practice without any depth. Something else unique is the Wall Yoga class that enlists the helps of wall straps and gravity to get some more stretch out of poses like downward dog. I want to take this class next. The studio is located in a building with other like-minded practitioners like an organic esthetician, a masseuse, a somatic therapist, and I believe a reflexologist. Super cool one-stop-shop kind of feel. I first went to the Hip Openers class taught by Amanda. I looooove hip opener classes like this because it's like a mega breath of fresh air. My hips tend to be tight (most women carry stress here), and it doesn't help that I'm on a computer a lot. It was effective yet relaxing. I also had signed up for the Gong Bath class right after the Hip Openers class, and that just happened to be done by Colten (but Amanda and others also offer gong baths, etc.) The room is low-lit with the shades drawn and colorful lights on in the corners, and everyone's head is near the gongs that are in a circle in the middle of the room. This was one of the best sound baths I've ever had. I had some crazy visuals and slipped into a meditative state very quickly. I said the word "cinematic" to describe what I experienced -- it was amazing. Tonight I went to the Mat Pilates class with Amanda which was a different energy, but the most fun I've ever had during Pilates. It was definitely challenging, but slower pace. Amanda and the other class-goers are fun, good people -- it feels like I'm just taking a class with some good friends who actually listen to direction (HA!) This yoga studio also offers yoga therapy, one-on-one sessions, and booked sessions for friends, etc. This is the exact type of community and spiritual-based studio I look for when scouting out yoga (and like-minded activities). I highly recommend being a patron at Satya. read more

From the moment you walk into this beautiful building you just feel welcome everyone is always so incredibly kind. The space is very clean and inviting, full of lots of beautiful artwork, props, and other pieces of musical instruments like gongs and sounds bowls that make the experience very serene. The owners Amanda and Colton are the nicest most approachable people I have ever met and made me feel like I belonged the second I met them. Not to mention very knowledgeable and love sharing their knowledge. The studio offers a huge variety of classes as well as less traditional ones like wall yoga and gong baths not to mention they host many more through out the community. Also in the same wonderful building you can find an acupuncturist and holistic health. I can't say enough about this incredible place! read more

I found out about Yoga Studio Satya when I decided to go to school for reflexology. There is a wellness center underneath the studio (with a school, massage, acupuncture and more...very cool!) and I would always be curious about the classes. I graduated but never stopped feeling drawn to the studio and the energy there. I spontaneously signed up for a mandala painting class and I just loved the people there and how friendly they were. Finally I decided to try a yoga class and it was wonderful. Yesterday I went to my second and now I find myself looking up their schedule on the regular. I pay to go to another high-end gym, with a yoga studio in it, yet I still find myself wanting to come back to the classes here. The vibe is so welcoming and not snobby or pretentious in the least like a lot of other yoga studios I've been to. I can't wait to try my next class! read more

I went to Yoga Studio Satya the first time because it's only ten minutes from my house. It's really close to major traffic interchanges while still being located on a generally quiet side street. Satya is the main occupant of this building. It's decorated in a beautiful unique yogic style. The other tenants are focused on holistic practices. It's definitely not an industrial setting used for yoga. Granted, this is the only yoga studio in Colorado Springs that I checked out. I'm an older male seeking strength and conditioning and meditation practices. I don't have an extensive yoga background. The friendly instructors, owners, and students offer community involvement and uplifting spirituality opportunities along with the physical aspect. There is a regular calendar of various yogic classes and special events. There is also an annual yoga retreat in the mountains. On-line class registration is supported. It's hard to imagine a better place to practice yoga. read more

How much do u love this yoga studio? Let me tell you... It has an iyengar-style class with a yoga wall!! It is an amazing hip/heart opener that allows you to work on balance and alignment since you are in the pose for a long period of time. Amanda was so sweet and did an excellent job of showing how your body should be positioned within the pose. Luckily the class was small so everyone had a chance to be on the wall the whole time. This is a healing place inside and out. Yes Amanda is incredible, thoughtful, and pays attention to your particular needs. The wall, and inversion therapy was suggested and cleared my by surgeon because the benefits are vast. I was able to get a set of private sessions for her to help my back and neck and i learned something new in every class. I would like to take this opportunity to write about my wonderful experience at Yoga Studio Satya. When I came to Satya's for the first time, I was absolutely new to yoga and didn't have any knowledge about any yoga practices. Amanda, the very sweet and caring owner of Satya's, made me feel very welcomed the moment I walked through the door and took my worries away that I might not be able to fit into any groups. From the very beginning of practice, she taught me to feel comfortable with doing anything on my terms. This was very important to me, as I am a cancer survivor who has tons of limitations with my flexibility, my mobility and different kinds of pains after chemo, a bilateral mastectomy, reconstruction and radiation. I was able to leave every practice feeling empowered and at the same time completely relaxed. Besides joining some amazing people during restorative yoga sessions, I also got to spent time with Amanda for special sessions/practices which focused on dealing and living with cancer. Learning how to accept my "new" body and how to deal with the fear and anxiety cancer brings up in you, was something that Amanda helped me with during these most therapeutic, emotionally moving and mind opening/inspiring, one on one sessions. I would've never thought that yoga can have such a positive impact on someone's life and I will forever be grateful to Amanda and everyone on her amazing team, for teaching me how to believe in myself. Fantastic first experience! Very informative and intense hot yoga session. They have a groupon that is a great deal. The only issues I have is that they don't have towels readily accessible and the hand towels used to cool down at the end of the class are sour. Ick! Also, they only have hot yoga twice weekly! (Maybe this is my own inflexibility but you would think it would be a big hit amongst yogis!) read more

I stopped in from out of town for my yoga fix away from home. I received such special attention and care it was like the teacher made the class just for me. My first experience was wonderful. I did the Beginner class with Jason. The atmosphere and instructor were perfect.

Took a vinyasa class with Mel. At 10:30. She was awesome! Very chill with a good sense of humor. The studio was beautiful and inviting. The room was large with a window for natural light. There are mats and props to use for free if needed. I appreciate that the classes are not heated since I'm a woman in my late 40's :) Overall I enjoyed the class and will be back to explore more classes. Feels like a great yoga home!! read more

Arriving at this studio feels like a homecoming. Amanda, the owner/one of the instructors, has created a space that is warm and instantly welcoming. I was in town visiting my family over the holidays for a few weeks, and am immensely grateful that Satya was a place that I could go to ground, be present, and take that reminder home with me - it helped me not get caught up in the usual family dynamics! I've been practicing yoga off and on for close to ten years. I have seen countless studios with instructors/guides in bikram, vinyasa, etc .. And usually my experience is ok. I haven't been blown away by a class ... Until now. I was a part of a group session this past weekend - yoga for runners. This, by far, was the single best yoga class I have taken. Hands down. Amanda was warm and welcoming. Her instruction of pace and pose was perfect. She accommodated every single person in the room regardless of ability. Best of all she made yoga accessible. I absolutely adored my time at Yoga Studio Satya. My friends refer to me as a "yoga hater" because, i'm really not a fan.
