Both the physical space and the instructors are most conducive to a restorative and mindful practice. There's even a working fireplace! The variety of instructors and forms of yoga ensure that all needs are catered for, from strength to stretching to meditative. All equipment, mats, bolsters, blankets are provided and the classes are priced extremely competitively. Drop in price is £8, or 10 class pass - £70 (valid for 3 months), 25-class pass- £150 (valid for 6 months). There is never more than 10 people in a class, ensuring easy observation by both teacher and student. Best and easy to book on-line. The studio is in the Cable Street complex of studios, near Limehouse station. Best arrive early the first time, you will need to be allowed in by security at the main gate, and then walk into the courtyard, just past the benches you will see a second gate on your right, with steps leading up to the third floor where the studio is located. There is a white buzzer just by this gate with the Cable Yoga sign. There is no designated changing area, so either you can use a screen in the corner of the room, or go down to one of the toilets on the 1st and 2nd floors.

I do gym yoga for various reasons and it is just…read morenot the same, there's no real challenge, no focus and half the time you are distracted by the kick-boxing class next door. But Blue Cow Yoga is a deliciously proper studio. Right in the middle of the city, it's in a fantastic location. Spacious and very North American. You take your shoes off when you enter, help yourself to free tea or water and pad round to the changing rooms, where they have all amenities including hair straighteners. This I like! Also the abundance of lockers to keep your valuables safe are really appreciated. It's a very chill environment, they get the importance of focus and a peaceful vibe. I came for an inversion workshop and was delighted with the teacher and the experience. Mollie, the teacher, was super patient and explained everything very clearly. While she made it look elegant and easy herself, she took the time with all the beginners to make them feel comfortable. The room was very spacious with lots of white wall space to practice against, and plenty of maps, bolsters and blocks. I am definitely planning on coming back for their free yoga week for newcomers and I'd love to try a treatment too, once I recover from this inversion workout!

TREATMENTS. Sorry…read moreto shout. But, seriously...the treatments. I have not been for yoga yet (but I will!) --- and had signed up for updates via their newsletter. As luck would have it last week I received an email from them about 25 quid Bespoke Treatments. Answer to my prayers, little BCY -- answer to my prayers. After being slammed and shoved into planes, delayed in airports, working from bed and overall stress levels escalating, I needed a massage. A good, deep massage. And this is what I got. Which will have hooked me forever, so this marketing campaign to get folks into the studio worked. I'll be a faithful follower of Zoe, who whipped my knotted back and shoulders into shape. Really, very talented. Will be back for the yoga and the massage and the acupuncture -- and whatever else really? Really! It's a beautiful lower level space that feels tranquil and serene amidst the craziness of the City. It's clean, large, spacious, and the staff is friendly without being intrusive. Will return and update about the yoga -- but for now, I can say that I'm feeling mighty fine and relaxed due to that bespoke beatdown. Ahhhhhh.

Finally I settled on Vinyasa Flow, as it's description seemed closest to the Power Yoga style which I really enjoy. And it was perfect. The centre is tucked away in a cute little laneway in South Kensington. It's clean, warm and well-equipped with mats, blankets, blocks, everything you need to support your practice. The staff and instructors are all incredibly helpful and friendly too. I will definitely be back for more Vinyasa :)

Went for a Iyengar yoga class which I booked through class pass. Was very excited to try out a…read morestudio in a different neighbourhood, but we were very disappointed. The woman at the front desk was rude and dismissive, and the teacher was an absolute nightmare. Instead of the warm and encouraging attitude you would normally expect from a yoga teacher, this woman snapped at people if they did something wrong, and I even saw her grabbing and pulling on someone's pony tail to correct their posture. Further the class was only focused on hamstring stretches, which ended up being very painful towards the end of the 60 minute class. If anyone needed to take a break, you would immediately be scolded by the yoga nazi. Very unprofessional - will not be returning.

This is where I conquered my fear of Spinning…read more I finally did it. Took the plunge. Jumped on the seat. Spinned my a*s off. The Friday lunch class with Cris is a great intro. As its a shorter class, you won't be wanting to die for quite so long. (kidding). He's super high energy, and plays great music (Whitney!) that made everything feel not so terrible. A few things I had to learn: *you do not need special shoes. Athletic shoes are fine. *have the instructor help you adjust your bike if you are new. *bring some water. *bring a towel. *don't freak out, push yourself. I did this as part of the 30 day new client special (includes both GV studios, 30 days for 30 quid!) -- and did two spinning classes. Really great way to burn calories quickly, in a fun way and super high intensity. The class fitness was mixed so it never felt like a bunch of hardbodies (though there were some of those too!). This studio also has the Power Plates classes. It is housed in a basement, and is a bit more dated feeling than the Covent Garden studio. All of the lockers are out in the open (which is great) and the reception staff were always kind and friendly. Very close to Goodge Street Station. If you are freaked about spinning -- try this! The intro offer is stellar and you can try it for a fraction of the cost to see if you like it, and the studio is convenient for you. Unfortunately for me it's just a bit too far from work or home to make it a permanent part of the workout, but I have Good Vibes to thank for getting me out of my 10 year Spinning aversion!

Ironically I seldom go to the yoga classes here, only because I love spin, pilates, and power plates so much more! The instructors are awesome, the classes are challenging, and you always leave feeling a little bit better than when you came in. Oh and there's also a student discount for memberships which is awesome for poor student folk like me.

There are three studios and classes vary from 5 to 12 people on average. Classes are air conditioned so you won't completely overheat. I'm not a fan of the changing room, there is one that feels both cramped and on display as the door is permanently open to the main hall. There are two toilets, a few showers and a changing area with hairdryers. There is a charge to use towels but lockers are in the hall are free. I like the small waiting area as the tables come in handy before class. Their shakes are made fresh daily and delicious. Good selection of snacks and smoothies along with workout clothes. Now you can rent a kit if you forgot yours at home, no excuse to skip your workout! There are other locations so if this isn't convenient it's worth checking out. I will be back to sweat!

I went for the reformer pilates and it was just so easy to check in at the desk. Locker wise, you input your own code and wella, it's locked. No need to look for change - thank god, as I'm always have the wrong kinda coin and ah usually it's just such a hassle, so major thumbs up for this! Changing room wise, it does get quite congested around class time, especially as they have a few studios. I definitely have to squash to use the hairdressers and bench space. I guess that's what you get when a place is the new PLACE!! Shower wise you get products to use, which is great if you're forgetful like me. The only downside with the showers was I struggled to get hot water, but I didn't hear anyone else having a problem, so I guess I just need to figure them out... The studios are a good size and I can only speak for the Pilates equipment, but the reformer machines were top quality and no budget was spared. Cafe wise, they do a wide range of healthy juices and smoothies, which is a good touch! I got a super healthy green juice, which I loved! It wasn't cheap at £4.50, but it's the perfect tonic after a hard workout. Classes aren't cheap, so if you're looking for a budget option, this isn't the place. However, if you have cash to spend and fancy trying to some different styles of class, such as barre, a Bieber dance workshop, boxfit and many more, then this is the place!

If you wanted to get in shape fast, this is where I'd go. It's not like a "luxury studio" like Ten Health that has like stocked showers and a clothing shop, but Ten is what I'd call a "gentle" class, frequently much older people in class, and I don't think you get the same results, vs Epoch which will kick your ass and have you feeling the effects for days. I've taken classes from 3 different instructors here, they are all equally hard, which is what I go for. I'm pregnant a the moment so am opting for milder workouts while I'm pregnant, but once i'm postpartum I will definitely be coming here to get my body back in shape fast.

When I'm in London, the yoga always feels a little weird, not satisfying. I've shopped a lot of studio in LDN, and Heartcore in Notting Hill has been my favorite so far! It's absolutely adorable, well kept and well staffed. Front desk was incredibly welcoming and warm, and I loved Sarah's class! One of the best flows I've taken in awhile, even in LA. Very unique flow and I felt wonderful afterwards. Save yourself the run around and take class here!

Yotopia is in a really great, central location only a couple of minutes from Covent Garden tube and…read morenot far from Oxford Street. This is a bit plus for me as it offers two different ways to get home. The studio is pretty cool looking, very clean and sleek and new looking. No shabby edges, or poky spaces. Another big plus are the snacks and water on sale in the lobby. I almost always forget my water, so it's good to be able to buy some, or a snack if I'm finishing a class late. The changing area is good, but often gets crowded at busy times. Compared to some of the bigger gyms, it is obviously a lot smaller, but when you take into account how big other similar studios are in the local area they are more than adequate. The showers are nice and clean, although there isn't a huge amount of space for drying hair if you go before work. Not the end of the world at all, but it can sometimes be a bit of lottery if you'll get to use the hairdryer exactly when you want to. Hardly a big problem though! Yotopia has two studios, one (much larger) hot studio and one smaller and only warmish room. They are both kept clean and tidy (no smelly carpets) but again can pretty crowded at peak times. There are lines on the floor, but obviously you do have to be careful of space and not knocking into your neighbour! Class-wise, there is a really great mix to keep things interesting and there are good options for beginners and advanced students alike. I'm a particular fan of Jennifer Ellis' Ashtanga and Hot Flow classes. I've been practicing yoga for several years now and have been to most of the studios across London, so I think I can comment with quite a lot of authority on how good a particular studio is. Where Yotopia is really great, I think, is that it blends some of the 'trendier' and newer (or non dogmatic) yoga practices with traditional and expert teaching. I'd recommend it to any level of yogi, although perhaps not very very beginners as the heat can sometimes be a little overwhelming if you are completely new to yoga. Namaste!

Bring a lock with you - they have lockers unlike the typical open space hot yoga studios usually provide. Also, I really do appreciate the separate shower cubbies! Classes I've practiced all sorts of yoga the past couple of years and it was nice and refreshing to take the beginners hot yoga class to break down really good techniques like where to put the weight in your hands in a downward dog. I love that the hot studio has windows that brings in a lot of natural light but there are no mirrors. I think it's good to change the focus to how you feel rather than your form which is important in bikram yoga. Watch this space - will update after I take a few more classes. Namaste.
