Finally I settled on Vinyasa Flow, as it's description seemed closest to the Power Yoga style which I really enjoy. And it was perfect. The centre is tucked away in a cute little laneway in South Kensington. It's clean, warm and well-equipped with mats, blankets, blocks, everything you need to support your practice. The staff and instructors are all incredibly helpful and friendly too. I will definitely be back for more Vinyasa :)

The woman at the front desk was rude and dismissive, and the teacher was an absolute nightmare. Instead of the warm and encouraging attitude you would normally expect from a yoga teacher, this woman snapped at people if they did something wrong, and I even saw her grabbing and pulling on someone's pony tail to correct their posture. Further the class was only focused on hamstring stretches, which ended up being very painful towards the end of the 60 minute class. If anyone needed to take a break, you would immediately be scolded by the yoga nazi. Very unprofessional - will not be returning.

I do like this particular style, I find it a good all rounder when it comes to fitness, weight loss, detox and a destress. It is made for all levels, you come out feeling relaxed and also feel that you have had a great work out. It is based around the Notting Hill area and I do strongly recommend a visit.

I found the Life Centre and was able to catch a yoga and meditation class with Zephyr. I was so in love with the 90 minutes that I spent there. I was offered everything that I needed. Zephyr taught with such extensive knowledge and was able to share so much of her own experiences. The meditation portion was absolutely wonderful. The studio space was pretty good. I took class in the studio located on the main floor which was an all white room. There were mats available for use along with straps, bolsters, and blocks. The locker space was small but they did offer locked lockers to use which is a huge plus. I am definitely looking forward to my next time in London so I can go try another class. There are 60 classes a week held here offering many different types of disciplines.They rang from Astanga,Iyurvedic,Self-Pratice and hard or gentle yoga. The Life-Centre has a huge following and other than classes they also hold talks and teacher training programmes to anyone who would like to teach the disciplines or open up their own school. I do gym yoga for various reasons and it is just…read morenot the same, there's no real challenge, no focus and half the time you are distracted by the kick-boxing class next door. But Blue Cow Yoga is a deliciously proper studio. Right in the middle of the city, it's in a fantastic location. Spacious and very North American. You take your shoes off when you enter, help yourself to free tea or water and pad round to the changing rooms, where they have all amenities including hair straighteners. This I like! Also the abundance of lockers to keep your valuables safe are really appreciated. It's a very chill environment, they get the importance of focus and a peaceful vibe. I came for an inversion workshop and was delighted with the teacher and the experience. Mollie, the teacher, was super patient and explained everything very clearly. While she made it look elegant and easy herself, she took the time with all the beginners to make them feel comfortable. The room was very spacious with lots of white wall space to practice against, and plenty of maps, bolsters and blocks. I am definitely planning on coming back for their free yoga week for newcomers and I'd love to try a treatment too, once I recover from this inversion workout!

TREATMENTS. Sorry…read moreto shout. But, seriously...the treatments. I have not been for yoga yet (but I will!) --- and had signed up for updates via their newsletter. As luck would have it last week I received an email from them about 25 quid Bespoke Treatments. Answer to my prayers, little BCY -- answer to my prayers. After being slammed and shoved into planes, delayed in airports, working from bed and overall stress levels escalating, I needed a massage. A good, deep massage. And this is what I got. Which will have hooked me forever, so this marketing campaign to get folks into the studio worked. I'll be a faithful follower of Zoe, who whipped my knotted back and shoulders into shape. Really, very talented. Will be back for the yoga and the massage and the acupuncture -- and whatever else really? Really! It's a beautiful lower level space that feels tranquil and serene amidst the craziness of the City. It's clean, large, spacious, and the staff is friendly without being intrusive. Will return and update about the yoga -- but for now, I can say that I'm feeling mighty fine and relaxed due to that bespoke beatdown. Ahhhhhh.

Finding Bikram Yoga North isn't easy, as its name is not displayed other than a small placard above the door buzzer. After buzzing in and climbing the two flights of stairs, I entered the reception. Everything you'd expect from a yoga school is on offer, retreats, clothing, mats etc... Plus the vibe just had that yogi feel to it. My partner and I signed up for the very reasonable £29 for thirty days. This introductory offer means we can train as much as we like for thirty days. It is £13 a class after this introductory period. Once the admin was sorted it was time to sweat. The studio is spacious with plenty of natural light and famously heated to a thankfully bearable but still hot temperature. The teacher was a lovely Latino lady who spoke using a headset. Unlike all other styles of yoga classes I have attended she instructed but did not do the movements herself. This in no way distracted from the quality of the teaching and spared her time for correcting students. Based on twenty-six Hatha yoga postures the movements and stances are not difficult to do but they are to master. With the added heat it wasn't long before I was bathed in sweat. Rather than an overtly physical workout, it really felt like I was working from the inside. My organs felt freshly squeezed and my core felt thoroughly worked. There were no downward facing dogs, no plank and very few of the traditional postures I've performed before. Yet I enjoyed the class and will be back.

Exactly the same positions devised by Bikram are on offer 3 - 4 times a day for 90 minutes. The basis of all the classes, no matter where you go, are the same, so I guess it's just the proximity and preference of centre which determine your choice. The studio is along the market area, on the second floor above the busy row of shops so to find it you just look out for their door marked with a sign. The same type of friendly yoga fiends come here, yet the same lack of space in class apply during the evenings. One man actually flicked sweat onto me all the way through a session as we moved through the positions last week. And I'm actually paying for this?! Unfortunately I really don't like this studio, which can only be described as scruffy and at £13 a lesson you'd think that they could afford a refurb. It's in a carpeted room that seems unclean, not surprising, as it must get drenched in sweat every lesson, there are large windows lining one side of the space that let in too much outside noise and light, (which is very distracting) the heat doesn't seem to circulate well and is only controlled by turning up the radiators full blast rather than providing a hot air steam. I've had my mat next to the radiators before and the heat was so dry and heavy that it was unbearable. Bikram yoga isn't just exercise, it's a powerful form of yoga, which if done in the right settings should have an amazing effect on the mind, body and soul. I much prefer the wooden floors, clean sauna style and lack of natural light in the Balham yoga class that overall has a much more positive effect on me. After stretching out in Kentish Town I felt more ripped off then rejuvenated so I wont be returning.

This is where I conquered my fear of Spinning…read more I finally did it. Took the plunge. Jumped on the seat. Spinned my a*s off. The Friday lunch class with Cris is a great intro. As its a shorter class, you won't be wanting to die for quite so long. (kidding). He's super high energy, and plays great music (Whitney!) that made everything feel not so terrible. A few things I had to learn: *you do not need special shoes. Athletic shoes are fine. *have the instructor help you adjust your bike if you are new. *bring some water. *bring a towel. *don't freak out, push yourself. I did this as part of the 30 day new client special (includes both GV studios, 30 days for 30 quid!) -- and did two spinning classes. Really great way to burn calories quickly, in a fun way and super high intensity. The class fitness was mixed so it never felt like a bunch of hardbodies (though there were some of those too!). This studio also has the Power Plates classes. It is housed in a basement, and is a bit more dated feeling than the Covent Garden studio. All of the lockers are out in the open (which is great) and the reception staff were always kind and friendly. Very close to Goodge Street Station. If you are freaked about spinning -- try this! The intro offer is stellar and you can try it for a fraction of the cost to see if you like it, and the studio is convenient for you. Unfortunately for me it's just a bit too far from work or home to make it a permanent part of the workout, but I have Good Vibes to thank for getting me out of my 10 year Spinning aversion!

Ironically I seldom go to the yoga classes here, only because I love spin, pilates, and power plates so much more! The instructors are awesome, the classes are challenging, and you always leave feeling a little bit better than when you came in. Oh and there's also a student discount for memberships which is awesome for poor student folk like me.

It's absolutely adorable, well kept and well staffed. Front desk was incredibly welcoming and warm, and I loved Sarah's class! One of the best flows I've taken in awhile, even in LA. Very unique flow and I felt wonderful afterwards. Save yourself the run around and take class here!

I am an have been taking classes in many yoga centers in NYC and London and this is one of my favorite places. I have only had great teachers each time I go. Having searched around, i found a few gyms and fitness centres that offered classes but was lucky enough to stumble across Yoga On The Lane. I live in East London so the location is perfect. Tucked behind the hustle and bustle of Dalston's busy Kingsland Road, Yoga On The Lane provides the tranquil and peaceful setting you would expect from a yoga centre - as soon as i walked in i felt relaxed. I'm a beginner, so i went to their Level One class which takes you through meditation to a full body workout - an hour of yoga is sweaty stuff. It's first come first serve, so get there early! Classes are £10 (expensive for me but i save to go because it's worth it) and they offer weekend yoga retreats, acupuncture, yoga holidays etc. My class was very busy but don't let that put you off because my instructor (Joanne) was so amazing and made the time to help each member of the class as if it were one-to-one. I couldn't recommend this yoga centre more, its exactly what i've been looking for and is suited to all levels of experience. I'm off to their midday yoga class today, see you there!
