I was so happy to find Jenna a year ago when I was seeking help getting more flexible and strong after a diagnosis of Lyme disease four years ago. Over the last four years, my illness had hijacked my body, and my once flexible frame had turned rigid with disuse. Lyme caused muscle stiffness, pain, and gripping, and had made it so that muscles easily strained. So, I backed off of most physical activity for a long time. I wasn't ready to return to the full class format, worrying that in a class, I wouldn't get the special care I needed in my unique situation. Through Covid I was also worried about Long Covid either triggering a Lyme flare, or adding to my issues, so overall a class was a no-go for me. I finally found exactly what I needed in Jenna's private sessions. She helped me gently move and stretch at first, just to get my body from concrete to hard rubber! Then, using her particular understanding of chronic illness, she added in deeper stretching and strength-building when she felt I was ready, helping my body loosen up and even just get used to the movements again. My journey with Yoginest first started by following Jenna's guided breathing & meditation sessions on Inside Timer. I must say her guided sessions are best - she has very soothing & calm voice just what you need as a beginner. Most of my favorite sessions on inside timer are Jenna's - easy to follow & perfectly paced. After following her on Inside Timer for few weeks I approached her for 1:1 sessions. I have taken yoga/ meditation training in past from a different teacher but Jenna is the best - very thorough , highly knowledgeable & super patient. Before i joined her yoga practice, she requested an introductory phone session that lasted an hour - for her it was a discovery session to know me - my current health & mental state & my goals. That session made me feel so good that I had no second thoughts about starting my journey with Yoginest. What i appreciate the most about Jenna is that she focusses on mind & body together not just body. Jenna recommended a program based on my situation. In addition, Jenna provided some impactful techniques for mindful awareness. Jenna is the real f***ing deal. Straight up. I am currently training to be a competitive kick-boxer and was in need of a teacher that was going to help me achieve my goals for flexibility and mobility (trying to deceptively head kick my future opponents!) . I'm naturally stiff as hell when it comes to flexibility. I was super tight all around in different areas of my body before I started practicing with Jenna. In fact, I have a bit of over-pronation in my feet. Overpronation is when the arches of the foot roll inward or downward when walking, and is often referred to as flat feet. I didn't even notice this until Jenna pointed it out during one of our sessions. Overpronation can actually lead to some long-term damages. Her knowledge of human anatomy and attention to detail in what you're doing correctly or incorrectly is unbelievably on point. I would have never received this level of focus and attention from a public Yoga class. I needed that undivided individualized attention from a seasoned expert, and Jenna is so great at knowing what level you're currently at. There's been many times during a session where I have the tendency to psych myself out of doing a stretch or pose because my subconscious mind tells me I'm not ready for it yet. Or like I'm not understanding how a certain part of my body is supposed to operate during a stretch or pose. Jenna is very good at noticing this, being realistic at assessing where I'm actually at, and pointing it out to me, saying "I know you can actually do this. You can go further, you're just in your head. Let go and just go for it." She won't just say that like some drill sergeant that's trying to mentally toughen you up, she knows exactly when you're capable of going a little further. This is something that I personally scouted for in a coach/instructor. Someone who was going to push me and guide me to become better, but not in a way where it could potentially injure me physically or mentally. I've had some former coaches that didn't understand the balance between pushing their students and knowing when they weren't ready yet. Her mindfulness is seriously really comforting to know, cause I get in my own head a lot about many obstacles or things I'm dealing with personally. And thanks to that, I've been able to snap outta my head more and trust in my ability to accomplish my goals with Yoga. The results have been fantastic. There's milestones I've accomplished within the last 2-3 months I've been with her. And especially as of recent weeks, I'm noticing a big improvement all around. I'm progressively getting higher and more in control with my kicks. I'm so damn attentive and mindful of my own body now. It's actually kinda funny cause I hear Jenna's voice in my head when I recognize I'm slouching in posture, standing incorrectly, doing a stretch incorrectly on my own, or if my feet are pronating inwards like crazy. The mindfulness is key in becoming better in Yoga and just in life, period. Jenna's also the homey, low-key hahah. Cool, down-to-earth, empathetic, extremely knowledgeable of her craft, committed to her students' success and health, and actually pretty damn funny once you get to know her after a while. She's definitely a super positive influence in my life along with my boxing coach, PJ. She is a miracle worker, a true healer, an inspiring teacher, and an overall extraordinary lady. In the past, I'd dabbled with yoga (or so I thought) - went to a few classes at one of the big commercial type places (don't waste your time or money) and also videos/YouTube. I liked it enough, but I never really felt like I was getting the same experience that everyone raves about...but I wanted to like it more. so, I decided the best way to go about learning something new would be to try some one on one sessions in order to get the attention I needed (yes, I am an only child) and really learn the correct way to do this. ***BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE AND BEST MONEY EVER SPENT!!!*** 100% Now I'll tell ya why: First of all, I'd spent the last year with a personal trainer at the gym (that's whole other review) - the gym is nice for working out, but what about what's going on on the inside? My boyfriend suggested I take up yoga as a way to relieve some anxiety and stress and to be blunt, to chill the F out. I went straight to Yelp to search for ... something. Anything. There were lots of places to go, but ... I really didn't want to get lost in a crowded class. YogiNest popped up and there are great reviews, but I am always a bit cynical at first... so I checked out her website and read Jenna's story. Ok.. that's sounding good, cynicism is weakening. Next, I emailed her to set up a consultation and she called me back later that day. After discussing what I wanted out of this and what she had to offer, I was sold. Besides, why not try it out and see if it's a good fit, right? After a few sessions, I am hooked! I originally signed up for 5 sessions, going once a week. When those were up, I purchased 20 & now I go twice a week. Jenna is incredible!! Yoga is now my answer to everything - I tell everyone they need to do yoga. "I'm not feeling well." You should try yoga. "I'm really down in the dumps." Go do yoga. "I am out of shape" Yoga. "I'm bored." Yoga. It's not just yoga... if you're doing it incorrectly, like I was, you're not getting the true benefits it has to offer. Because of Jenna and the way she teaches, I feel good, my body feels good, my mind feels good, my spirit feels free and happy. I feel good about myself. I feel accomplished. I look forward to my 2 days a week with her and on the days in between, I want to practice so that I can continue to learn more and keep feeling better and better. She's funny, she's sweet, she's a phenomenal teacher. She takes the time to make sure you know what you're doing and sets you up for success, whether you're practicing with her, or at home, or even taking one of those classes in between sessions. I've also had anxiety/depression issues and have seen many therapists/psychologists. Jenna blows them all out of the water. She's just AMAZING. Call her up... Prior to Jenna, almost all the yoga classes I had ever taken were offered at gyms (Bally Total Fitness, Planet Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, Planet Granite in SF) and maybe two at a yoga studio. There had always been at least 10 students in each class and sometimes even upward of 30. Some of the classes were too easy, some were too difficult. I was always looking around to make sure what I was doing looked even remotely similar. I had no idea what the fuss was about. I was looking to give yoga another shot, and a friend from LA recommended me to YogiNest. I'm from SoCal and visit LA about once a month, so I'm in the area often. I figured, why not? If it didn't work out, I wouldn't have to give yoga another chance because I knew I'd tried. To date, I've had three sessions with Jenna and I can't recommend her enough! She knew exactly how to tailor her teaching style to me, a person who has only had very casual experiences with yoga. Flexibility wasn't my issue (I did gymnastics/tumbling for a handful of years in my youth), I just had bad form and balance. It's clear she knows what she's doing. To echo the other reviews, the sessions also had a therapeutic feel to them. She definitely let me talk her ear off about the problems I was distracted with that day and was so kind and empathetic in response. I honestly can't recommend her enough! You can stop your search for a yoga teacher now because you have just found the BEST one! I've tried yoga classes a few times but always felt like I needed pointers on making sure my form was right since I am NOT a flexible person by any means and I really had no idea what I was doing. A friend suggested that I take private lessons and referred Jenna to me. I was a bit hesitant to try it at first thinking it would be awkward or weird, but Jenna was SO warm and friendly right from the first phone call that I figured why not! During our first meeting, we went over my concerns and goals (increased flexibility, alleviation of back pain, tight hips, stress relief, insomnia) and Jenna created a personalized sequence to address all those items. I've been having sessions for 2 months now and I am completely pain free and sleeping like a baby! The thing I like best about Jenna is that I feel she is truly committed to my progress with yoga. Yoga is not something that comes easy to me and I have may done a handful of different classes. It wasn't until I took a class with Jenna, where I fell comfortable seeking help and making my practice better. Yoga after a night out of bachelorette debauchery was just what we needed to get us recharged, and Jenna's class delivered. I booked Jenna for a private group class for a bachelorette weekend in the Hollywood Hills. From the first email exchange I knew she was the perfect fit. She was very warm, genuine and very helpful in working with us to design the right combination for a variety of levels, including one mother-to-be. She genuinely wanted us to have a fun, memorable experience and everything she did made that possible. She planned special surprises for the girls and her set-up of the space was stunning! Over the years I've tried to develop my yoga practice, with little success. I've worked with a number of teachers, all of whom were unable to work with my body and lack of flexibility. I was told that yoga could be the answer. After i met with Jenna, she outlined a routine that far exceed my expectations. Throughout my life I have been training to be a professional dancer and make it a full time career. A few years ago I suffered from one of many lower back injuries and my chiropractor told me I could no longer dance professional due to a lower sciatica back issue. After that happened I went through physical therapy to help re-strengthen my back, and would stretch here and there. Time has gone by, I have lacked on strengthening my back and putting effort into any types of yoga. Last year I was diagnosed with bulging discs in my back - my doctor recommended me to practice yoga. If you know me, i do NOT like to workout at all but i gave yoga a try. Because I am so terribly out of shape, i gave yoga one try and felt like an idiot when i couldn't bend the way I felt like I was supposed to. Then I met Jenna and my thoughts on yoga changed instantly. She was so patient with me as I fumbled through most poses, but I never felt more comfortable with a teacher.
