This is a very long overdue review on Golden Monkey Healing. I believe I've been holding back, because it's already difficult to get an appointment with Matt. He's in demand! About 4 years ago, I was hobbling around with the worst case of plantars faciitis. I used to go to Equinox, and the amazing restorative yoga instructor Amber, referred me to see Matt. Her boyfriend was a patient and swore by him. I was a bit apprehensive because of the needles, but Matt communicated throughout the insertion of the needles. They were not painful at all. He put a infrared lamp on the affected area, and I napped away while he stepped out. A few days later, no more limping around. After that experience, I've been seeing Matt whenever I have physical ailments. I should've bought a package, because it's a great deal for follow up care. This time around, I came in to his new, tranquil location in Valley Village. Another big score for me--only minutes away from home. I have a bad case of carpal tunnel, it flares up every now and then. This week was the worst it's ever felt. I had a relaxing treatment, maintenance care advice, and how to strengthen my body in the future. Thank you, GMH! I'll definitely come back, not only during pain, but for re-set sessions for my body.

A Decadent Father's Day Surprise!…read more For Father's Day, my son decided to surprise us with something from Artelice Patisserie, and let's just say... he absolutely understood the assignment. These pastries were not your everyday desserts--they were little works of art, and every single one was incredibly decadent and delicious. We had the Blossom, with vanilla mousse, pistachio and red berry insert, pistachio crunch, and pistachio sponge. The combination of creamy, nutty, fruity, and crunchy textures was so beautifully balanced. Every bite had something different going on, but somehow it all worked together perfectly. Then there was the Tropical Mango, made with mango and passion fruit mousse, fresh mango filling, coconut crunch, and coconut sponge. This one was such a gorgeous tropical escape! Bright fruit flavors balanced with that delicate coconut richness, and the textures made it just as interesting as it was delicious. We also had a beautiful pistachio creation with pistachio mousse, pistachio praline, pistachio and hazelnut crunch, and pistachio sponge. I'm not completely certain of the exact name because the color of ours looked a little different from the one pictured on their menu, but whatever this beauty was called, it was absolutely amazing. If you love pistachio, this one is definitely worth seeking out. What I loved most about Artelice is that these aren't simply pretty pastries. Each one feels thoughtfully constructed, with layers of mousse, sponge, crunch, fruit, and praline creating a completely different experience from bite to bite. They're rich and decadent without feeling like you're just eating one big blast of sweetness. And the presentation? Gorgeous. These are the kind of desserts that make you pause before taking that first bite because they're almost too pretty to disturb... almost. I'm always happy when my son introduces me to another great food discovery, and Artelice Patisserie was such a fun Father's Day treat. Everything we tried was unique, beautifully made, and absolutely delicious. Now I'm curious about the rest of their pastry case--which, honestly, could be dangerous for my dessert-loving self.

I think I've tried half of the menu here lol. My go to is definitely the New York roll and the mango passion fruit cruffin. I love that they change their New York roll flavours often. What really stood out for me was how well balanced the flavours are in their fillings, especially in the New York roll and the cruffin. They also do really well with their citrus combos like the cruffin, exotic or the mango eclair. I wish there was more custard in their fruit danish and sometimes the croissants aren't as soft, possibly a little overcooked. But the pastry on the cruffin was one of the softest and most delicate I've ever had. The macarons are also great especially the yuzu, passionate, hazelnut and raspberry flavours.

Top Buys Here: HEIRLOOM TOMATOES. - When they have them, they are usually in the two dollar per pound range. PICKLING CUCUMBERS - (which you cannot even get at the Ralph's) - Here you can buy a sack of these for a few bucks. RED BELL PEPPERS - Half the price or less than at the Ralph's. OKRA - Inexpensive and fresh. GREEN BEANS & BROAD BEANS - Both fresh and cheap (and you cannot even get broad beans at a regular super market.)
