They have great summer reading challenges for kids! For example 1,000 books before Kindergarten. Your child places a spaceship on the library wall to track their progress and earns prizes along the way! if we were residents, we would sign up! Events, classes, and more can be found here for free as well. Not into books? You can check out Blu-ray or DVD movies as well! The kids side of the library can be loud (it's on the left as you walk in). If you want quiet you should head off to the right. You don't need to wander far to find a quiet desk or table. The only thing I wish our Library had more of was parking. During events or busy days the parking lot fills up very quickly and you can find yourself circling for a while. The street parking is limited as well. I'd definitely walk, but we live to far away.

This library is open everyday, so that's nice b/c none of the Sac Public Libraries is open on Sundays or Mondays. I can't believe this one is open even on Sundays, great for kids to hang out on a lazy Sunday afternoon. As I entered, there's the kids' area on the left side, it's like a separate wing altogether and it's nice and colorful in there. It's really big too, so kids must really enjoy that space and I saw quite a few kids there on a late weekday afternoon, maybe cuz it's summer time. Lots of kids books on shorter shelves and several kids' computers w/preloaded software for them. Back towards the entrance of the library you'll find the info/front desk where the librarians and assistants are available to help you find books etc. Then there's shelves of books and towards the back of the library, but still in the middle as you look in, there's a friends of the library book sale and an area where you can eat and there are a couple of vending machines so you can buy a snack and drink. There's even a charging stand with multiple cords for different phones if you need to recharge your phone. The right side of the library is where teens and adults sections are and there's a dedicated teens room, and a couple of study rooms as well as a huge and really nice study room named after some lady who's a local person of importance and the room is filled with old books and is pretty amazing to study in although it was kind of hot and stuffy in there so I just peeked in and didn't stay. Finally, towards the far right side of the library are all the circulating movie and TV DVDs and there were a ton compared to other libraries I've seen as well as CDs which interesting, is still popular here. And lots of seating and reading loungers, but mostly desk and chairs for studying. All in all this is a pretty nice and big library, older, but well-kept.

Yolo County is very proud of its history and it shows. The library and archives has long been an important part of that and that has been reinforced by the renovation and upgrade of the archives facility. You wouldn't think a smaller county like Yolo would have a state of the art archive, but it does! And it is for everyone, the public, researchers, government officials, we can all use it. The collection contains records from various Yolo County agencies/departments as well as family collections from community members and local businesses. The staff is there to help you find and access it all. The materials include maps, blueprints, photographs, bound volumes, manuscripts, newspapers, yearbooks, and secondary sources in the form of published books and articles. Access is by appointment, and staff is very friendly. There are tons of ways to support and get involved with the archives, just check out their website. They also put forth fun curated projects/exhibitions to highlight parts of the collection, for example, a speaker series to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment where they show materials from the archives and have historians discuss research and history.

They have a nice Kid's Area with lots of room for activities! My daughter loves coming here to not only pick out books, but to also play with the toys. They also provide computers for use as well as headphones. You can even check out comic books and video games here! All of the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable as well. I love that they have a massive amazing wooden playground and they even have a smaller playground behind the library. Great walking area around the whole complex as well! There is a building next door that even hosts dance classes and what not. My daughter has attended classes there and she has even had soccer practice on the fields behind the library. It's overall a great library and there is always something to do and entertain my daughter when we visit. I also love the convenience of their website and the emails they send out letting me know when our books are due back or when a book I want to check out is ready for pick up!

Adj: good library in South Natomas…read more Pretty nice community library that's been here for over 30+ years! 32 to be exact this year so South Natomas Library celebrated 30 years in 2024. It's off Truxel Blvd, down a couple of blocks north of W. El Camino Blvd. The inside is nice and cool on hot summer days in Sacramento from the scorching heat waves we experience every year! Although this is the older library in Natomas, it's still in pretty good shape as it's been quite well maintained. There's a community room near the entrance where events for all ages are held and restrooms are by the doors too. The bathrooms are decently clean, but if you come later in the day, you may find it's messy from use as I don't think anyone keeps them up throughout the day. The children's section is off on the left side as you enter, past the circulation desk where you'll get all the help you need from the friendly library staff. Colorful and filled with quite a lot of children's books in purple, blue, and green book shelves, the whole area is nicely designed and color coordinated. The kid-sized desks and chairs are perfect for shorter adults so you can work while your kids read or explore and find books, play with other kids in the alcove area where there's a "market" playset and other toys. NOTE: it gets LOUD here in the morning with toddlers galore if you're trying to get any work done, sit somewhere else if you can (and don't have to watch your kids). The adults area is set off towards the back of the library with tons of computers to reserve up front by the librarians and then the MANY book stacks and multi-media materials are further in as you walk deeper into the library. Overall, this is a good community asset and resource, the only downside is parking is kind of limited as the lot is shared with the community center next door and the park with a play structure at the SE corner of the lot shared with the library. Open 10-6 daily except on Sundays and Mondays (boo, wish some branches open on either).

And I have a friend who loves libraries. Turns out libraries are great places to work. In the UC Davis library is fantastic. It has more study space than most libraries, even university libraries. It's perfectly laid out. It's immaculately clean. There are plenty of electrical plugs for your laptop. There are rooms where you could have a small gathering and chat, and there are areas where you can study or work quietly . There's a museum exhibit on the main floor with an interesting display related to agriculture and food. Parking on the UC Davis campus is allegedly very easy, as long as you're willing to pay.

The natural light coming from the large windows makes long study days feel less confining. I feel comfortable leaving my belongings at my table while I use the restroom. It's a risk to take unless you ask one of the many kind people around to watch your stuff. There are also study rooms for rent. I haven't used them, but I'm happy to have the option. The parking lot can get packed quick due to the fitness center, nearby parks, and other library goers.

We ended up getting three stalks from the front desk. The person behind the desk diligently informed us we can only take one as they are running out of supplies. Unfortunately, my 3 year old does not understand this supply and demand issue as I do. The employee let us go, although clearly she was not very happy about it. Anyhow, if I were a part of this establishment or her boss, I will praise Katherine for doing her best to minimize supply usage. Most specially if they are running out. It's good to have someone very dedicated to their job like that. I truly mean that. In a customer service standpoint and as a mom, I would give her 3 stars (that's me being nice) because we are talking about a toddler here. Some understanding is appreciated. I even offered to pay for the stalks and she responded with, "that's not the point." She tried to confront me, after she saw me take down her name. However, she did let us go after that so I guess I should just be appreciative of her. Library rating for amenities: 5 stars.
