This is a very good gym. Out of the UCs, we are up there, if not number one. As much as I want to…read moregive this place 5 stars, it's suffering from a few questionable choices. 1. All these new machines, but no secondary pec fly/rear delt machine? I've been to gyms half the size with 2 of these. Cmon. 2. Recently, a lot of old equipment was swapped out for newer things, mainly the second floor equipment. The ones in the former Racquetball court used to be extremely solid--though old, and showing their age--and always be in working order. They were fully metal, and built like really old Volvos. The new machines are pretty much new Volvos. Cheap plastic crap that may look good to a touring group, but absolutely terribly designed to where all the cable machines keep falling apart and needing constant repair. The poor maintenance staff just keep fighting a never-ending battle. It's just Sisyphus pushing a boulder all over again. I really hope that old machine is out there somewhere--all it needs is a fresh coat of paint, and it would really do the community a favor by coming back. What's the point of getting new equipment if it doesn't even work?

Max informed me one of the stalls in the bathroom was out of order. For the woman's bathroom I had to walk all the way downstairs to find it. One girl also walked by with gold fish and didn't offer any even though we were STARVING! Got some wraps eventually so overall I'm doing great! Still want to eat though....stay tuned. Update: I just got that the guy I know has been signaling that he is passionate about ballet and that volleyball is not his calling.

There are various little areas to read and it sits right by the park and greenbelt nearby. A great little place to find some books or movies and to relax.

This library is open everyday, so that's nice b/c none of the Sac Public Libraries is open on Sundays or Mondays. I can't believe this one is open even on Sundays, great for kids to hang out on a lazy Sunday afternoon. As I entered, there's the kids' area on the left side, it's like a separate wing altogether and it's nice and colorful in there. It's really big too, so kids must really enjoy that space and I saw quite a few kids there on a late weekday afternoon, maybe cuz it's summer time. Lots of kids books on shorter shelves and several kids' computers w/preloaded software for them. Back towards the entrance of the library you'll find the info/front desk where the librarians and assistants are available to help you find books etc. Then there's shelves of books and towards the back of the library, but still in the middle as you look in, there's a friends of the library book sale and an area where you can eat and there are a couple of vending machines so you can buy a snack and drink. There's even a charging stand with multiple cords for different phones if you need to recharge your phone. The right side of the library is where teens and adults sections are and there's a dedicated teens room, and a couple of study rooms as well as a huge and really nice study room named after some lady who's a local person of importance and the room is filled with old books and is pretty amazing to study in although it was kind of hot and stuffy in there so I just peeked in and didn't stay. Finally, towards the far right side of the library are all the circulating movie and TV DVDs and there were a ton compared to other libraries I've seen as well as CDs which interesting, is still popular here. And lots of seating and reading loungers, but mostly desk and chairs for studying. All in all this is a pretty nice and big library, older, but well-kept.

The machines are top notch and as long as you go during an off hour it's not too crowded. The locker rooms are great, clean, plenty of lockers and personal showers. You can find meetings at different times depending on the group. The Sunday Assembly, Recovering From Religion, American Humanist Association and Atheists and Other Freethinkers are some of the groups that meet here. Other groups, such as the Freedom From Religion Foundation host special events on occasion. All of the groups welcome new visitors. The building also hosts a variety of secular activities, including an evening self-defense class. The Reason Center is located near in a strip of buildings featuring a wide collection of small businesses. It is located in the end of the middle building. Parking is in front of the entrance.
