Master Haydar is an exceptional instructor. He is a state champion with several years of martial arts training experience. He is genuinely committed to developing his students. During a recent conversation he described the relationship between parent, student and instructor as a triangle - parents at the top, with the student and himself working side by side. That is evident in everything he does. The environment is structured, disciplined, and focused. It took some acclimating for our son (and us as parents LOL). There were tears along the way but what stood out was how consistently the instructors encouraged him to push through challenges. They hold students accountable while still being supportive and encouraging. There may be other martial arts schools nearby but the structure and dedicated approach here set MHBBA apart. The instructors genuinely care about their students' success. I enjoy the workout, the focus of learning a new discipline, and the skill building required to master each movement. Master Karstadt is a very positive person but he also preaches and expects respect, courtesy, effort and the students respond. TKD is a good skill to learn, a fun way to get exercise (even in the summer) and Master Karstadt is a legendary teacher to learn from (this is not conjecture -- he was recently nominated for a Lifetime Contribution award in the ITF Hall Of Fame). We found Karstadt Taekwa-Do through an introductory rate he offers and there are also camps from time-to-time on self defense, breaking boards, anti-bullying that are beneficial even if you're not a full-time student.
