The library looks like a maze. The bathrooms are extremely dirty and disgusting at all times. The staff is always frustrated when one asks for help and to look for books on their old devices. If you don't leave upon told; they will lock you in the library & leave you there until you call the police, ambulance, fire department etc. smh! Not a library worth of keeping open. read more

During my visit to town, I decided to swing by the Yonkers Public Library, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. With numerous programs running throughout the day and friendly staff ready to assist, it's a great spot to get some work done. I found a quiet spot on the third floor with views of the Hudson River and tons of light--the perfect environment to be productive. Definitely check it out if you're in need of a scenic workspace. read more

Yonkers Public Library: Riverfront Library - The view - Libraries Near Me - Yonkers, New York

This is by far my favorite library in/near New York City. PROS This library is accessible via public transportation and there's street parking. Multiple Westchester Bee lines stop within a 5-10 minute walk to the library. Metronorth stops across the street from the library. Street parking is metered. There is no free street parking in the area. So bring your quarters. I don't know how's parking during the week, but on the weekends you can always find a spot. The location is great because you get some amazing views of the Hudson River from the third and fourth floors of the library. It's really relaxing to look up from my books or laptop and see nothing but greenery and a ship cruising on the water. It makes my work/study sessions here very relaxing and thus more productive. The building is very clean. The exterior and lobby are always litter free. The interior of the library is very nice and clean. They offer a wealth of free stuff -- from study rooms and meeting rooms (by the way no library in NYC offers this. :-( ) to computers. Oh, and there's a ton of books. This library is huge, so they have a lot of everything. They even have a space for teens to play video games for free. In the lobby, they post their events for the day. I haven't been to any of their events, but they seem to offer a lot of events daily, at least 8. I found the staff here very accommodating. I usually visit weekend mornings/early afternoons, and I noticed that the staff (from security to the librarians) are very nice and professional. CONS The WiFi is spotty. Sometimes that's a good thing because it forces me to write my reports for work without the distraction of YouTube or Google. Why do I goggle the weirdest stuff when I'm working -- like "how high can cats jump?" and "what's the best pokemon?" Any who, I digress. So, the WiFi is spotty at the Riverfront library, so I can't research or pull up my Google Drive documents while I'm here. I have to do my reports very old-school -- on Microsoft Word. Probably one of the best library in the New York Metro area. It has 4 floors, but in the 3rd and 4th floor you are able to see great views of the Palisades and new luxury apartments. If you are around the area, even if you are not into reading, it is worth visiting for some air conditioning on a hot day or just using their clean restrooms or some great views of the area from the upper floors or use the free computers or computer desks. read more

Yonkers Public Library Riverfront Library 1 Larkin Center This is the real address.. A sanctuary might I say, a retreat from the gnar that is south Yonkers. A massive state of the art sky stealing structure about five stories high across form the Yonkers Metro-North stop. The main lobby doubles as an art gallery for local artists. The first floor are new releases as well as DVDs Cd's and that, Second floor Is reference, Third is magazines and a big ol kids section that is nicely sealed off. Forth floor is this, and fifth floor is that.... you get the idea, but what gets me the most jazzed about the place is the wonderful view of the majestic Hudson river and Palisades. On most floors there is lounge style seating facing the beautiful view as you enjoy a book or do a bit of studying. Boy-o-boy even if you have never picked up a book in your life its worth a visit for the view alone. read more

I've only spent my time in the children's floor. It's clean and spacious. They have a nice big play room they use for young kids. Read books and provide arts n crafts as well as some toys. read more

Thank god! This waterfront area continues to improve, albeit at a snails pace. This library is a much needed improvement for the area. It's a large facility with nice people and great decor. Nice selections, computers, movies and even blu rays. Take the kids over here for an afternoon and let them look around and grab some books and movies. It's worth it. read more

Located across the street from the beautiful waterfront of downtown Yonkers and the Metro North train station. Check at the circulation desk and with the announcement boards there's much more going on at this library than just books. It's definitely worth at least one visit but I'm sure it will just be the first visit. :-) Nice children's section too. read more

This Library is located on the Yonkers waterfront directly across the street from the Yonkers Metro North Station. It's in a beautiful clean new building and is very modern. It is so wonderful to have such a great resource in Yonkers. The Yonkers public schools office is located in the exact same building on the first floor. Street parking can be difficult but there is a convenient municipal parking garage just a few blocks away. read more

I really didn't like the way the female security guard told us to put our masks on, as if we are children. She could have politely said please wear your masks at all times, to ensure the safety of everyone. It was really hard to breath as all the windows were closed and there was no circulation. Also, we were very far from eveyone else. I have the habit of always putting my mask back on when I see someone appraoching. I think the security guard is used to dealing with kids and not adults. Please train her in this respect. Everything else about he library is awesome, the view, the quietness and the staff behind the desks. Very professional. The library is also very clean and modernly designed. read more

I was going to give it 3 stars but added a star for the staff for effort. Wish there was something in between. If you have kids it's an easy 4 or maybe even 5. They seem to have lots of activities for the kids and the community. In some ways it's more of a community center than a traditional library. Which is great if it keeps them in business in tough times for libraries. Except....if you have work to do and actually want to use it as a library. This place can get loud. The only corner that's not full of kids running around or people just socializing is one half of the top floor. Fourth-floor staff does pretty well managing people but even so it can be hit or miss. I'm here once or twice a week and there is a row of upholstered chairs facing the window that are routinely claimed first thing every morning by people who appear to be "regulars" who literally use them to sleep for hours, sometimes all day. Which I don't care about until someone starts snoring. (The poor security guard--who does his best, bless him--has already had to wake up one guy twice because he's louder than the passing trains.) Then there are the people who just come for a place to hang out and socialize. Which is also fine, but since the entire rest of the library has been given over to just that, why do they have to hang out in the *one* area that hasn't? On noisy days I've tried other floors but there the staff is the problem. What ever happened to the stereotype of the quiet librarian? They routinely yell--yes, yell--across the floor when they have something to say to each other. It's even more jarring than loud patrons, (On the 4th floor there's usually only one person working so at least there's none of that.) Like I said, it's hit or miss. Today started out noisy and got quiet (so far); some days it's the reverse. read more

I like to come here to study . I enjoy watching the river and the metro north trains pass by . It's clean and spacious . The 4th floor is the quiet room , I found out the hard way . I tried to study on the 3rd and people came in to hang out and talk so I went upstairs. read more

As a citizen of Yonkers since the day I was born, one of biggest part of restoring the Yonkers waterfront was what they have done here. Everything is cleaned, organized and a lot more spacious then it was in the past. I come here often to study and it offers a nice view of the pier. Staff is very professional and useful as well. read more

This library is a joke if you are looking for a quiet study place. 4th floor is so called a quiet study area, but people are walking around, making noise, talking loud on their cell phones, and no one stops them. People are sleeping, watching movies or playing games in the study rooms. Serious disciplinary action need to be taken. Worst experience. read more
