To read that people make some French mistakes, is an impression I've never had or share. I agree that the teachers are dedicated. I feel some love, patience, and the right intentions from them. The flipside: I have to quietly agree with Amanda, that there is room for improvement when it comes to dealing with some forms of bullying - perhaps the different age groups (kindie/primary/junior) can have their respective play areas during their shared recesstime. This is an issue that would be more useful to bring up directly with Admin, and not on Yelp. As for the food shaming, it's almost 2019, and the same issues are still present. Mostly, teachers are o.k. with most food coming their way, but I know if an item is perceived as sugary, it will be returned home or candy might be thrown out. Again, another issue for Admin, or Parents' Council. Harbord CI is one of the og high schools in Toronto, and you get that impression just by driving by…read morethat it has some history going on. Founded in 1892, it's got a long colourful history with plenty of wartime mementos on display in the lobby area so if you are a history buff check it out. I've heard there's even a tunnel from it to nearby Central Tech on Spadina for wartime production use. It's great how these old schools went all out for kids and had everything from an art-deco theatre for performances, as well as a full size gym (no need for double duty!) as well as a large pool in the basement where the Grade 9's go swimming. The alumni also read like a Toronto historical who's-who. David Cronenberg, Frank Gehry, Paul James, Max Kerman, Stephen Lewis, Howie Mandel, Joe Pantalone, Louis Rasminsky, Harry Rosen, Morley Safer, Sam Shopsowitz-Shopsy's, Sam the Record Man Sniderman, Kiefer Sutherland, Wayne and Shuster met there, and the list goes on! My daughter did very well, even though there aren't the perks she would like that are found in the mega-schools in the affluent burbs, it was perfect that she is able to walk to HCI in a very nice University Annex neighbourhood, no less. The music program here is impressive, as is the art program. She was able to organize an after school choir club of up to 20 kids who willingly go sing as a group every Wednesday after school when they could be on their phones, they choose not to. They also do extracurricular gigs at old age homes, etc. I look forward to the regular music concerts here and since she's in Grade 12, this year is sadly the last one. Highly recommended!

Instead of being a place of growth and encouragement, the school created an atmosphere of fear, exclusion, and constant judgment. A teacher, Rory consistently singled me out in ways that felt unfair and humiliating. The leadership under the principal, Janice, only made things worse -- the administration fostered an environment that was punitive rather than supportive, and students like me were left feeling isolated and diminished. The impact of this experience has stayed with me long after, which says everything about the culture of this school. I would strongly warn families to reconsider before sending their children here.

I have taken classes on both campuses, and while St. George is a gathering for prepsters and nerds, Scarborough is home to tiny Asian hall dancers and the young. I mean really young. I'm certain I am pretty much a dinosaur in comparison to these kids. I say kids because they are so loud, and dressed in something I'm sure could be found on the closet floor of my 16 year old mother. I've realized two things about attending university at this campus in this city. One I highly enjoy the anonymity of the large on line classroom. Scarborough offers several of their highest grossing classes as on line available. Meaning that one can watch the lectures anytime, and that you need not be subjected to the aforementioned youth and all the irritants that surround them. It also means that the procrastinator inside can be fulfilled and I can still ace all my courses. Number two, I can try to fit in here, but I'm white, and old comparatively speaking. So I'm fashionable as an almost cougar and someone you think you can ask directions from. In fact I'm certain my prof yesterday was markedly younger than me. Oh well, thank goodness I'm mostly over trying to be cool:). As far as amenities go, the gym facilities are pretty shoddy though they will be redoing them shortly. Food options are few and have pretty poor hours, but there are two Timmy's, one open late. Highlight of my most recent trip to Scarberia, the ghetto Asian dance troupe practise taking place in the hallway near floor length windows. I say ghetto, because that is what they call themselves, because in all honesty they are sporting more brand names than a Macy's superstore. Bottom line...don't transfer here, this is a full fledged business and they deny deny deny all the credits they can. As business and psychology faculties go though they are top rated.

Everyone from the front office to teachers to coaches to extra-curricular leaders are available, approachable and know our children. I am confident that the education that my children are receiving at Hudson will prepare them for the rest of their lives and a successful future. So we were happy when we enrolled our 3 years old child there. But from the day 1 we saw warning signs. We withdrew on day 3, which cost us the whole month fee of course. This is another story (to loose 1 month fee) because most day cares have visit days before you enroll. They don't. The warning signs: no one welcomed my kid properly, no one sat down to her height and made eye-to-eye contact with her, asked us about her, and her interests or made any effort to involve her in the class or with other kids. We left her for half an hour, she waved happily bye bye and started to play. When we came back, found her sitting alone crying, no one was near her or comforted her. From that moment she never wanted to be alone there. Which is not like her. She is used to being at day care since 1 year old. So we never knew what happened. The teacher said she missed you and started to cry. But I, personally think no one paid any attention to her, at all. Maybe i'm mistaken but we didnt find kids very happy or playing happily or full of energy. Teachers controled and the restricted them all the time. We let our kid play with slide in the backyard and almost all the kids came to us warned us with fear that it's forbidden to play with slide and you are not allowed. In one of the 2 hours days I was there, I found new student (a toddler) crying nonstop for 2 hours (without exaggeration), we saw no real effort from the teachers to make the poor baby distracted or comforted. There are couple of other things which we didn't like, some of them was personal so they may not apply to others, and some of them were just small but the whole package seemed to be a big deal. (like time between lunch and second snack, is sooo long, or you HAVE TO agree with them posting/using your kids picture online/public/ everywhere) We found another daycare and it took my kid 2 days to trust them after that experience but they were so loving that she is now very happy there. Despite the money we lost, it was the best decision not continuing with reggio kids.
