When I moved into one of their properties nearly 4 years ago, they were so nice. When the refrigerator was leaking, they sent someone to repair it the next day. Same thing when the washing machine stopped working. The maintenance person was there the same day & quickly repaired it. But fast forward to about a year ago. I had a backed up toilet & they sent someone out who couldn't fix it. Then they went to a vendor who explained there was a problem with the pipes outside not lining up. Nothing was ever done to fix the source of the problem. It took nearly 2 weeks to get someone out to unplug it. And that was the 2nd time in 6 months it clogged up. They were completely UNSATISFACTORY! If I could rank them ZERO stars, I would. Service went downhill. In the meantime, they would send threatening emails & letters stating that IF I didn't go make an extra set of keys & take to them, that they would change all the locks, charge me for it and I'd be locked out until I paid them. For 3 years there was no issue with keys. But then, they realize they don't have keys to the place and threaten ME if I don't make and take them to their office by a certain date (while I was away on vacation, no less)? UNACCEPTABLE behavior for a property management company -- threatening tenants who had paid on time or EARLY for over 3 years. Between them being unreasonably DEMANDING, & then their lack of any service, I couldn't wait to find a better place and move out. What's worse, there were at least a DOZEN different times when I was told they would be there at a certain time, on a certain day when they JUST PLAIN DIDN'T SHOW UP! And no one called to apologize for me taking off work to be there for hours, only to be stood up. WHAT KIND OF COMPANY DOES THIS TO IT'S TENANTS? They caused me to lose vacation time that I had to take to be there. Then, when the basement flooded due to heavy rains, it took them weeks to get someone out to clean it up, & more than a month to replace the soggy, moldy carpeting with new flooring. Our belongings had to be moved out of the living space that entire time. Were we compensated for the loss of use of that space for over a month? NO! And I'm not entirely sure there isn't black mold on the back of the drywall, because they didn't remove or replace any of the drywall that was clearly covered in something. The last straw was last summer. While mowing, my landscaper accidentally broke a window (a rock got flung into it) on the back side of the house into a window in the back door. It was reported immediately. They sent someone to look. And then look again. And again a third time. Then they scheduled a date/time to fix it. But he was a no show. According to him, he broke the replacement window on the way to bring it over. Then the maintenance person kept reporting to the management that the window was fixed, when it wasn't. Then, they tried to bring me into some DRAMA between them & I wanted no part of it. And the entire time, it still wasn't fixed. Meanwhile, the outside runner for the stairs from the top deck down to the pool had been rotting out. They knew about it. The landlord knew about it. I was told they were considering fixing it "next year", along with the rotted deck, and broken fences. It was a safety issue. But nothing was done, until I mentioned it to the maintenance guy that I had about gone thru the stairs. He nailed a new stringer to the old one that was rotten, & nailed the treads to it. But it was a very poor job. I was still waiting for over 6 months for the window issue to be resolved. They sent maintenance people, vendors and repairmen, and yet NOTHING was ever done. Even the manager of York HG Properties came out & looked. So I gave my notice that I was moving out. At first, they tried to charge me February rent. I had to fight them over that, because they were trying to take an additional month that wasn't legally theirs. When I finally moved out, I spent over $1000 having professional cleaners go thru & make everything TEN TIMES better than when we moved in. When we moved in, they hadn't painted. The walls were dirty, & they left nails/nail holes, and other stuff on the walls that we didn't want or need. But we accepted it. When we moved in, we put ALL of the pictures up using Commander Velcro adhesive strips. We didn't put a single nail into the wall ANYWHERE in the place. So, imagine my surprise when they TOOK MY ENTIRE SECURITY DEPOSIT, stating it was because the walls were dirty & there were nail holes! And they charged me for a stain under the refrigerator where it was leaking/stained BEFORE we moved in. And on top of the $2150 they STOLE from me, they are now telling me I have to pay $560 for the window they couldn't repair the entire time I lived there! As far as I am concerned, the folks at York HG properties are a bunch of unprofessional, unqualified, incompetent, lying, cheating thieves. You'd be better off steering clear of these crooks! read more
