Equally as nice as most small liberal arts colleges. The dorms are no worse than at most schools. I think most important of all, it's really a positive and supportive environment, academically intense but not competitive in an unhealthy way. If you're considering schools like Bucknell or Lehigh or Lafayette, DEFINITELY consider F&M. (And they gave us some generous financial merit aid compared to Bucknell!)

Emails go unanswered, phone calls are ignored, and even when you do manage to speak to someone, no one has a clue what's going on. Every interaction feels like you're talking to someone who's just as confused as you are about the school's basic operations. It's as if no one has any idea how to run the place! But that's not even the worst part. The campus is unsafe and poorly managed. There have been several incidents of crime happening around campus--some of which were completely brushed under the rug by the administration. Instead of addressing these issues and ensuring student safety, they've chosen to keep things quiet, making students feel like their safety isn't even a priority. I've had friends who were harassed, and it seems like no one at York cares enough to do anything about it. The lack of transparency is beyond frustrating, and the attitude of the administration is completely dismissive. I regret ever choosing this school. The lack of communication, the disorganized nature of everything, and the fact that serious safety issues are being ignored is beyond unacceptable. If you're considering York College, RUN. There are so many better options out there where your safety and education actually matter.

We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned to see Hedwig, Guys and Dolls and possibly the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is a small community theater with up to 80 seats so basically you are right there in front of the actors. The sets are simple, there is no stage, but somehow there's great acoustics in here and it sounds like a full on stage production. The actors are entirely volunteers and if you go to enough shows you'll recognize the same faces. They are always out in the lobby waiting to meet people after a show. If you looking for a fun, affordable way to see shows and even if you live a bit farther away, it's worth the drive. And for those of you with kiddos, they are also doing Frozen in December.
