    Saturday Farmers Market
    Raelynn V.

Decided to check out this beach while visiting a family member who is stationed at Fort Eustis. Though it was a cold and windy day, the beach was beautiful and the Saturday farmer's market was fun. There were two main parking lots close to the beach, both with limited parking, but we were still able to find a spot within 10 minutes despite it being a holiday weekend. There are restaurants and bathrooms along the boardwalk as well for a perfect family beach day!

If you're looking for a smaller beach or just not wanting to make the long drive to VA beach (for us that are 2 hours away), Yorktown Beach is a slice of heaven. Small sandy beach on the York River and the Yorktown Pier along with some tasty food spots to enjoy. Sometimes you need to slow down and get away from the hustle and bustle and this is a perfect spot.we've come during summer and even on a cold spring day the sand and water soothe my soul.

I loooove the beach, and VB can be quite a drive (okay, it's the tunnels and traffic I cannot stand, really). But this place is just what you need if you're craving a mini getaway from the hustle and bustle! Perfect for a pleasant stroll along the beach/boardwalk, or if you want to catch some rays; there's something here for everyone. Along the beach there's a few points of interest for the History buffs - there's signs that explain the history of Yorktown beach, and with Yorktown Battlefield Colonial Park not far away, there's no better reason to make a day out of it. There's free parking available, picnic tables and picnic areas, and also a Ben and Jerry's store across from the beach (among a few other restaurants) - I don't need an excuse to come down here and enjoy a sunset with an ice cream or a drink, but if there ever was one, that would be it! Sunset views are gorgeous!!!

First time visit on Friday. Small, clean, friendly beach. Brackish water and plenty of place to spread out a blanket or pop your umbrella. Small waves so no need to pack a boogie board unless you plan to float on it. Pets are only allowed on the sidewalk. Bathhouses and outside shower were all clean. Plenty of trash cans. The downtown boardwalk area with restaurants and ice cream shops was adorable. Free parking!!! We will be back.

This was a amazing day at the beach while visiting the Yorktown area. The beach isn't very big, so go early for a great sunning spot. Parking is free or you can ride the Ntl park shuttle down for free. Yes you have to have a pass to enter the park before you can ride. Its so worth it, and you can support our parks in the USA. There are several stops the bus makes along the way. The beach wasn't overcrowded and very clean. The scenery was unbelievable for a beach/ boardwalk. Lots of history if you wanna walk along the boardwalk. Great foodie spots, bookstores, and people just chilling have a great day catching some sun rays. Hopefully next time I can catch the sunset, Im sure its a beauty.

If you're looking for somewhere that is not as far of a drive as Virginia Beach, (and minus the Tunnel traffic) but still wanting some sand and sunshine, this place is great!! Not to mention FREE PARKING. There are shops around, so there are other things to do other than just the beach! Also restaurants, drinks, and a small boardwalk! There are some historic sights and points of interest. There are paved walkways and it's a great spot for kids, a family day, or a solo getaway! They also have nice bathrooms on the beach which is a plus!! There is usually room to have your own space on the beach, it's not as crowded as Virginia Beach! Definitely a fun day trip!

So.......... This wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I was told this was a beach. It's cool for sunbathing I guess? I like to swim when I go to the beach. Eh, I guess we'll try another.

The off season is quite peaceful! Love it.

Yorktown beach is always a breath off fresh air, especially during the off-season! Richmonders this is a nice close option if you don't feel like driving down to VB or a little day trip. The parking is free which is a plus, there's a fishing pier, room to spread out and relax with an umbrella and blanket too! There's less traffic compared to a larger beach. We brought our little dog down for a little day trip from RVA although dogs aren't allowed to walk on the beach the paths to walk were pet friendly even have potty stations too. The flowers planted were pretty and there are plenty of benches. There are local shops as well as a favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop! I'd recommend!

I absolutely love Yorktown beach! My favorite place to do lots of things. Whether it's too fast, relax, hangout or even walk the dog, it's so enjoyable and very family friendly. The pirates festivel was this weekend and it was a great experience. Lots of different vendors from food, jewelry, beauty, animals, etc etc. The vendors pricing were very affordable and the festivel was free! Loved every moment of it. It's not a big beach, but it is a nice small one of you want that beach environment workout the major crowding. Riverwalk resturaunt is my favorite. It's right on the water and the seafood is fresh daily. There's also a Ben & Jerrys and other resturaunts and sights as well.

Beautiful beach, family friendly, not crowded, places to relax, eat, and spend a wonderful day in the sun!

This beach is located only a few minutes from Yogi bear resort if you are looking to stop somewhere after camping. The beach is nice, social distancing signs are all over however masks aren't mandatory, I only saw a few people wearing them. The beach isn't huge, it felt too crowded for my comfort so we chose to stay all the way on the left side of the beach away from the main beach. The water is calm and perfect for small children to wade in. The beach is not as clean as I hoped so we had to keep our flip flops in the entire time for fear of injuring our feet on trash or broken shells. Despite this, the view is beautiful with areas of shade and it wasn't too windy so I didn't have to worry about my umbrella blowing away. There is plenty of free parking and one parking garage. There are restaurants, shops, and several different bathrooms. Bathrooms were clean, contain baby changing tables and one was air conditioned. There is an open public outside shower area to wash all the sand away. There is also trolley stops if you chose to do sightseeing on the trolley. Just a 2 minute drive away from the beach is a museum. There is lots to do in this little area. We will definitely be back and hope to try the ice cream next time! Oh and dogs are not allowed here.

The waterfronts it sits between are the Chesapeake Bay and Little Creek Inlet. The neighborhood has been in a continuous state of development since construction began in 2004. The City of Norfolk seized the land through Eminent Domain and demolished the existing houses in 1993. A beach replenishment was done in 2003 before construction began by the city's chosen developer. The "New Urbanist" style of the neighborhood is unique to the area. It's a beautiful neighborhood with a town square and walkway areas. The houses or cottages built in the central part of the neighborhood are on small urban style plots and are built close to the street with front porches and sidewalks. Many have detached garages with an apartment above. Alleys run behind the street for parking aesthetics. Golf Carts abound. There are larger stately houses and also houses closer to the Chesapeake Bay on larger plots of property with walking paths to the beach. My late husband and I were considering the purchase of one of the houses within a small number of steps from the Bay. It would have been the perfect location, since our boat was docked at Little Creek Marina along the Little Creek Inlet side of Pretty Lake Road,, the main entrance to the neighborhood. His cancer diagnosis immediately stopped that planned purchase. There has been continuous development since that time. High Rise Apartments/Condominiums with shops and restaurants were developed on the north side of Pretty Lake Road. After my husband's death I eventually sold the cabin cruiser, which was too large for me to get out of the slip. And boats should not have to be controlled by manipulating two engines. They're not like brakes. I loved sitting on the deck sipping wine and visiting with the fellow long time occupants of our pier, some of whom lived on their boats. But nor'easters and hurricanes terrified me since the area is prone to flooding. Wave action in one storm severed the dock line. I sold the boat. The memories of that time have been destroyed since East Beach bought and demolished most of the marinas on the Little Creek Inlet side of Pretty Lake Road. High Rise Condos with shops and restaurants on the ground floor are now being constructed. After eating at kSurf Rider East Beach I'll sometimes drive through the neighborhood remembering what might have been.

The beaches were pristine and even had a buggy driving on the beach picking up bits of debris, but mostly you didnt see any trash on the beach or in the park. The pavilions were clean too! There's a huge playground for the kiddies with plenty of shade! There were lifeguard stations at regular intervals, as well as emt & police patrols making this a safe haven for beach goers! We checked out the lighthouse in the center of the park, the historical marker. There were regular benches and lounge benches at various spots so you could chill if you forgot your beach chairs. Speaking of which, there was a stand/kiosk that rented beachy items - umbrellas, tents water activities, etc. and also sold sunscreen, sunglasses, and other sundries and necessities. Also, we found a sweet swing set near the boardwalk where you can just melt away into the horizon. The beach wasn't crowded and the water was calm and beautiful. Such a relaxing vibe. We will definitely come back to this beach, way more chill than VA beach and cleaner than colonial beach. Plenty of parking too, come during the week if you can! Saturdays get pretty packed. It's only about 1 1/2 hours from Richmond. We saw a couple girls with a big dog on the beach, I think it was a boxer or a Rottweiler- a lifeguard nicely told them that dogs weren't allowed. They were compliant. I appreciated the way that was handled. The park was lovely with picnic tables, lots of trash receptacles to keep the area clean. Great family spot!
