The Redwoods In Yosemite

Great Service and Perfect Base Camp for Yosemite…read more For our first memorable trip to Yosemite, staying at Rosenberg's Creekside Cabin via The Redwoods in Wawona was a fantastic choice. The location is ideal--tucked into a quiet little community about 4 miles inside the park gates. Driving in, you pass a local school and a handy little market, and the main registration office even has EV charging available if you need a plug. The customer service here is what really earned the 5 stars. I booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, which apparently uses a confusing third-party system. When I called ahead to ask about adding our small dog to the reservation, the front desk told me they saw the booking, but it was under a completely different name. I semi-panicked thinking we were double-booked. I left my info with Sharon at the desk and called Chase, who assured me everything was fine but couldn't explain the naming mismatch. When I called Sharon back, she was incredibly reassuring. She explained that the name on our booking had actually been used three times before for third-party reservations. Once we got that sorted out and I remembered why I called in the first place, Sharon was incredibly sweet and told me, "Bring your pet and do not worry about it." That kind of flexibility and peace of mind is priceless when you're traveling. As for the cabin itself, everything was smooth and uneventful. It's essentially a spacious 3-bedroom home setup with all the modern comforts you'd expect from a high-end Airbnb--strong Wi-Fi, ice-cold A/C, a dishwasher, and a full washer and dryer. The kitchen was completely stocked with all the basic pots, pans, and utensils you need to cook your own meals after a long day of hiking. Location-wise, it's about a 40-minute drive down into the lower valley. The drive itself is spectacular--once you pop through Tunnel View, the landscape completely opens up. The road loops through the valley floor as a one-way, giving you front-row views of Bridalveil Fall, the Yosemite Falls trail, and El Capitan Meadow. Having a fully equipped, dog-friendly home base inside the park boundaries made our first Yosemite trip incredibly comfortable. Huge thanks to Sharon and the team for turning a potential reservation headache into a great stay!

Who knew there was a little town inside Yosemite National Park where you can find cabins to rent?…read more Turns out, The Redwoods in Yosemite is a property management company that handles rentals of approximately 120 different cabins throughout the small town of Wawona in southern Yosemite. Over the Labor Day holiday we had a neat experience with Cabin 53. It had all of the basics that you could need and was cute and clean, and had decking all around. It was surrounded by a few other cabins and some nice pine trees. Staff from the Redwoods were friendly, accommodating, and responsive. There were many different sizes and types of cabins available, so both small and large groups can be accommodated. Unfortunately our cabin had a couple minor issues which couldn't be resolved, though they did try. The Redwoods community is located a short distance off the 41 in South Yosemite. It was still about 45 minutes to the main valley area, but it also had lots of neat things nearby as well. Still better than many options outside the park. Value was decent and we didn't feel like we were overcharged. This is a great option if you are looking for something a bit different to add that rustic cabin stay to your Yosemite trip.

We came to this venue to attend a wedding and it's a gorgeous forest setting. The ceremony itself…read morewas held in a small clearing in Heartwood forest and then you walk down a short distance where the cocktail hour/dinner area is set up. Even though it is extremely hot in Oakhurst, the venue, being in a wooded forest, is a very comfortable temperature, not too hot and you don't need a jacket at all, even at night. It is a bit of a pain to get to though - you have to drive up a winding mountain for about 20 minutes coming from Oakhurst so if you are planning on drinking at the event, make sure you either have a DD because coming back down that same road at night with no street lights and while under the influence can be dangerous. The venue itself was a bit confusing for us to navigate. We had to ask people passing by for directions on where to go but we eventually got to where we needed. It is also quite dusty so be prepared to have your shoes and the bottom of your outfits covered with dirt. And being up in the middle of a mountain, be prepared for no/poor reception.

We had an amazing vacation and recommend staying at Evergreen Lodge at Yosemite. The lodge was…read moreestablished in 1921 and has everything you need, from food to entertainment. Our cabin was nice and clean and had board games for kids to play with. I liked the smell of their complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion that the lodge makes. There are also outdoor games like Bocce and ping pong tables. If you want to relax, the lodge has a large swimming pool, jacuzzi, and massage room. They also set up bonfires to enjoy s'mores in the evenings. We really enjoyed their All-you-can-eat BBQ night in the swimming pool area. The pool bar made delicious drinks. That was our hangout!! If you don't want the All-you-can-eat BBQ, there's a restaurant at the lodge to order food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) or you can buy snacks at their General Store. They also sell beer and wine. The General Store has souvenirs as well. Evergreen Lodge at Yosemite also offers glamping tents, a laundry room, bike rentals, and fun classes for adults and children, for example, if you wanted to learn glassblowing. You can also book tours from the lodge. Our toddler enjoyed the kids' playground and I enjoyed the zip-line. The lodge is less than 20 minutes away from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir with beautiful views of a waterfall and it's a 17-mile drive to Yosemite National Park. We look forward to going back next summer and staying at the same location. A must visit Yosemite!! Happy Yelping :)

We were actually a bit freaked out because a couple weeks before the event our catering manager told us she was leaving and we would be working with a new catering manager, Joel, but Joel did a great job of jumping in and making sure he know exactly what we expected and delivered on every aspect. The food was great and the prices were really reasonable, especially considering there isn't much choice in the Oakhurst area for caterers. The best part of the whole experience was the staff. They were amazingly attentive and knew exactly when to get out of the way at the event. The presentation was better than we expected and they really helped to make the night a success. I didn't work with Roman the owner much but on every occasion that I talked with him (when Joel wasn't around) he really made sure that we were confident that the message would be passed on and on every occasion, through all the last minute changes and requests they came through with flying colors.

I knew going into this venue we would have to go with the flow due to unpredictable weather. Natalie Saini eased my mind from the first time I emailed with her and spoke on the phone with her. She was here for me as a coordinator every step of the way! She would email me back quickly and even coordinated a private tasting for us since we were unable to make the group tasting they have twice a year. Her organization and experience made me so confident that our hard work planning would all come together! We had rehearsal on the rooftop and had to switch locations to inside Parallax less than an hour before ceremony time. I'm sure that was stressful for her, but she made me and my husband not have a worry or care in the world. Our day was absolutely perfect for us! She accommodated our wishes of having 10-15 minutes alone after our ceremony. Natalie went above and beyond. She let us have our moment together in our reception area where she had waiting for us drinks and lots of appetizers! We walked around our reception area and got to see it all before our grand entrance to our guests. The gondola staff, the servers, bartenders (Connor especially!), chef, coordinators, and all the Mammoth Mountain staff were so good to us! Our guests raved about the food! We did the family style and it was almost like plated! Lastly, right when we got into town, Natalie came to our cabin and picked up all of our wedding decor and details so we did not have to worry about it! The Sunday after the wedding, she dropped it all back off to us in perfect condition and boxed so nicely. We cannot thank them all enough for putting on this epic wedding and best day of our lives thus far! Mitchell & Marissa Martens
