Previous renovations (done by another local contractor/ builder) were shoddy and allowed for major water damage that was hidden from me when I bought the house, but became apparent shortly after we started living in the house. HandyMan demo-d and removed all the water damaged flooring and sub-floor, redid the sub-floor with proper moisture barrier and heat insulation, and demo-d and and rebuilt two bathrooms in about two months. They started and finished exactly on time, and the bathrooms look amazing. Ian and Evan display high quality workmanship (flooring and tiling) and a professional, kind attitude. I also had a great experience working with the new design point-person, Petra. She was indispensable in helping me design the bathroom of my dreams, and took many trips all around the area to find the right materials and paint colors. I am thrilled with the final product and now have two perfect bathrooms, beautiful flooring that will withstand all the weather ups and downs, and a new laundry room. He did this under Justin's supervision and when it all went to hell (the job is still half done) Justin walked away with all the remaining money, provided no receipts, and ceased to communicate. Justin let a crook ruin my building (while he was collecting 15% on top of the subcontractor's wage) and then after letting things go terribly wrong he was not not man, or businessman, enough to make things right. I wouldn't trust him to paint a doghouse and if I did I would NOT give him money up front.

Previous contractors would not touch any flaws in the cedar and applied two coats.  David fixed/replaced the cedar and applied 2-3 coats where necessary on the high wear & tear sides of the house - no overpaint where it's not needed and more paint where it is needed.  Watching the work in progress, I added deck renovation/painting & gutter installation to the job scope. Remove and old 54' x 19' old asphalt driveway and install a new 54' x 22' asphalt driveway with 8" of crushed stone and 3" new top coat, 3.) frame and pour a new concrete patio to connect into my pool patio & side walkway, and 4.) fix two small dents & seal a 50'x 20' basketball court. Mike Morgan himself said the job would take 2-3 days. From the start - they showed up at 730 pm on June 24th to start removing sidewalk - didnt have correct tools, everyday they showed up around 11 am and worked 2-4 hrs, they mis cut stone, tried to install cracked or broken pavers in the walk way - which still isn't complete on today 8/9/2020. They rushed into pouring concrete without forming, and it dried totally discolored and 4 areas that have 1" depressions that collect water. I asked to have this repaired- they attempted to put leveler on it that cracked. One of the worst things- he started the entire paving project by not getting a $50 City of Schenectady permit. The Code Enforcement dept stopped the work - doubled the fee for permit and fine ($550) goes on my tax bill. Mike was non-apologetic - said "you get what you pay for" & called my wife and I names as if any of this was out fault. I have two estimates now to fix his cob-job work that will be $4,300. I wish I could post pictures of the work or post his texts!! As unprofessional as someone could be!!

DQ provided the most reasonable quote at a reasonable time. Devis was incredibly responsive, communicative, and respectful. He was reluctant to provide advice on paint colors, but it was clear we didn't like the color I picked out for my living room. After some deliberation, a new color was picked and his team repainted the living room at no extra charge. Another important detail is that I'm pretty handy myself, and most contractors I've dealt with were generally dismissive of women who know a thing or two about home repairs, tools, and the work it entails. Not Devis. He and his partners were great - they listened, considered my input, and I never felt dismissed in any way. The work took a bit longer than expected due to material shortage but the end result was beautiful. I'm absolutely going to use QD for my kitchen renovation soon. Hire these guys - you won't regret it!

While this company's concierge service was decorating a local Saratoga house (as they do every…read moreyear) with mostly absent homeowners, one of the staff they employ to do the work was absolutely rude to a neighborhood of year round Saratogian residents. Using a lift crane to decorate their customers home they completely blocked the street for hours and yelled at the residents to "go around the block" and at one point even gave the middle finger to two of us. Rather than say "sorry for the inconvenience and would you mind going around temporarily", they chose to be extremely rude. I find this unacceptable for a company that touts themselves as "local".

Our goal was to restore it to its original liveability as a single family home. Teakwood has a reputation as expensive and our initial bid, to do everything on a wish list, was pretty high. But they worked with us and a revised bid was significantly lower and we went with them. This bid entailed a clear-eyed distinction between "need to" and "nice to" improvements so we ended up with a price we were happy with. The quality of the work, both by Teakwood carpenters and their subs, is superb. Teakwood has a philosophy of assigning a master carpenter to oversee the job and our guy, Dan Decenzo, could not be better. Josh, the guy who did a number of built-ins, is a master of his craft and we now have benches and bookcases that look like they have been there 130 years like the rest of the structure. We were offered a 1 year satisfaction guarantee and I'm prompted to write because, well over 1 year after the fact, Dan has been back recently to fix a couple minor things. Bottom line, we are really happy with Teakwood and would definitely recommend you bid out your project to them.
