I went to pick up my girlfriend, wearing a tee shirt I'd worn 2x already as a result of bad laundry…read moremanagement. It was still clean smelling and unstained, but not at all fashionable [and for those who know me, I'm barely fashionable on a GOOD day, so imagine]. So it turns out she needed '5 more minutes' which of course became an hour of me waiting downstairs, and 20 minutes upstairs waiting for her to 'just grab her purse'. During that hour, I went to look for a shirt. And I came upon the nicest looking 'upscale urban' shop on the block. It's a nice looking place, kind of the expected look for a place selling Ed Hardy / Christian Audigier / 7 Diamonds / etc. You know the 300 dollar shirt brands. There was a nice fellow on his mobile who stopped his conversation to attend to me. He definitely helped though, he was chatting a bit with his friend but asked me for my size, got me a few different shirts in black, set up the mirror for me. He did his thing and was very amicable the whole time. I picked a all black button down with a gray applique and some embroidery for sixty [am I a cheapskate or is that a bit much?]. Paid with my card, as helped by what appeared to be the owner, she was busy but nice too. If you want to spend on 150 dollar jeans and 100 dollar shirts, by all means come here. It's nice stuff, good service, spendy but nice...

Vaulted Laces is an absolutely beautiful and cool boutique. I love the artwork inside and outside…read morepainted by the same artist. The merchandise is cared for in plastic bags and the shoe samples wrapped in shrink wrap for protection. That's a great idea. I was so excited and took a lot of photos. I buzzed to get inside. You need to buzz to get out also. Once I entered I realized it's a small store with sneakers in a display case and along one wall. The nice man behind the desk said he was helping his son briefly. His son is the owner. I did tell him the brand I wear and I looked at one pair. As fast as I wear out shoes the prices are way out of my range. I didn't see a style that looked comfortable for the amount of walking I do. I'm still recommending you visit. I will return when the owner is there. Maybe he can order something for me that will meet my needs and price range. I want to welcome him to the neighborhood and wish him success in his business venture.

Literally just randomly walking after eating at Quality Eats in the old neighborhood (don't worry,…read morethat review is coming up shortly) and saw all these fly ass kicks in the window! This is the UES, so not exactly known as the bastion of sneaker / street wear culture - but does have a lot of young kids who like hip hop culture and have money sooo. Nonetheless, Alper (the proprietor) was SO nice and so accommodating! He was patient as I talked through all my idiosyncrasies around sneaker colors and heights, and helped me find this neutral but interesting pair of Jordan 1s (I am now cool!!! I own a pair!)! There were others that I really like and will be back to get (the selection is not inexpensive but you pay for the service, rarity, and, well, a profit for Alper). Five stars - definitely check his store out!
