The top was quite a bit too big, but it was out of stock in the next size down, and I knew I'd never find anything I liked as much. I'd give Young 100 stars. She is articulate, experienced, caring, and easy to work with. She went above and beyond to ensure the alterations to my wedding gown were perfect. She genuinely cared about my gown and me. The selection of wedding gowns, tiaras, and veils at Lillian's was plentiful. I went to Svetlana at Young's Bridal and Alteration for alterations to my wedding dress last October. She did an absolutely fantastic job and I would recommend their services to anyone! They were very quick to get me scheduled for an appointment after I had been told by multiple other dress shops that they were fully booked through October. It was such a relief to get an appointment with them so fast. I had my first fitting in August and it was very clear from the start that Svetlana knew exactly what she was doing and was going to take great care with my dress. I picked up my dress four weeks later and the alterations were perfect! It was such a relief to have the dress ready to go a month before the actual wedding. My daughter bought her wedding dress at Lillian's Bridal in Centerville. They altered it and did a great job. But, then 2 days before the wedding my daughter realized that she had lost enough weight that it didn't fit well anymore. We called them the day before the wedding and they were so gracious. They did a rush job working late that night and made it fit perfectly! They really saved the day!! I don't know what we would have done otherwise. I'm extremely upset with this place. $150 and I had to cut the extra fabric around the belt and my aunt is taking in the waist. Do you know how hard it is to cut the fabric off a belt while crying? Well now I do. They only measured my breast which needed more wiggle room in the dress but they didn't take my waist into account, now I look like a beluga whale in it. I know expanding a dress isn't easy work which is why they get 3 stars. They also were able to fit me in pretty quickly. I cannot believe they would do the work to sew on this belt then leave it look this bad! I'm just at a loss for words and so upset. A few weeks before my wedding, I noticed that my dress was a lot tighter than I had thought. With it being such short notice, many places told me they couldn't help. When I talked to Young on the phone, she helped me straight away, even coming in on non-business hours to see what needed to be done. She took out the top by two inches in the matter of a couple weeks. I got my dress 4 days before my wedding date. It fits perfectly. I even had a ribbon to go around it brought in and she steamed it for me just to be nice! And the price was very reasonable, especially with the time constraint. I have to say, I'm not very impressed with this place after the blue dye I found on my wedding dress and the bustle breaking before the reception. I got a recommendation to come here from a friend, and since I was coming from out of town and hadn't heard of very many places in the area that did wedding dress alterations, I just went with this one. My first appointment was just the consultation; I requested to have bra inserts installed, a bustle installed since my dress had a small train, and then I needed the dress shortened about 3 inches. I was given a price range for each alteration, which I felt was reasonable. My second appointment, I tried the dress on again, with the added bra cups, and it fit well. There was still no work that had been done on the length and the bustle, which were my two main concerns. I was finally given the quote, which ended up being the very maximum of each price range that they gave me. (Example; the bustle was quoted between $20-$40). I asked why I was being charged the maximum for each alteration and I was told it was because my dress was "complicated." Ok fine then. I just decided to get it over with and pay before I got the final product (bad idea) because I knew I was going to be spending a ton of money on "extra" things the week of the wedding, so I just wanted one less thing that I had to take care of. The girl at the register ended up miscalculating and overcharging me, so she corrected it before I gave her my credit card. I was slightly annoyed that I had to catch that mistake, otherwise I would have ended up paying $40 more without her even knowing. My third appointment was the time they told me that I could pick it up, but it turned out there was still some work that had to be done. This was THE WEEK BEFORE my wedding, and my dress was STILL not done...not to mention, there were Homecoming dances in the area, so all the girls were getting their high school dresses altered during that time. So after being told that they still needed to do some work on my dress, I asked what was the soonest they could have my dress ready for pickup. They said it would have to be that following Thursday. I was getting married that Saturday, and I was already annoyed, so I made them have it ready that Wednesday instead. Wednesday comes around and I try on the dress. Everything fit well, the length was good, and I was happy with the results. I then asked about the bustle, which she apparently FORGOT to install!!!! So with the time constraints, she just did it really quickly...she tied a very small piece of ribbon to the top of my dress, and another one to one of the end of the under-layers. They were supposed to tie together to make my dress pinned up in the back. I paid $40 for that!!! When I got home, I noticed that there was BLUE DYE near the bottom sides of my dress, leftover from where they marked it to shorten it, which we ended up bleaching out the dye (thank god it worked) so I wasn't too happy with that. The wedding comes around, and my bustle ends up breaking, so I had to have one of my bridesmaids sew the ribbon back on and essentially sew it together for the reception so people wouldn't be stepping all over it. So to summarize, the dress wasn't finished when they said it would be, I felt like I overpaid, and lesson learned; don't pay until you are happy and completely satisfied with the final product and that you make sure that everything is done CORRECTLY. I wish I would have done more research before choosing a place to alter my wedding dress. read more

Bought a bridesmaid dress online since I am out of town and brought it to Young's last Tuesday and picked up yesterday evening (Wednesday). Just over a week turn around in their busy season was perfect since I had a tight timeline for the wedding. I needed the normal hem shortened, 2 layers of a chiffon dress, and the back was intricate and huge (I probably ordered 1 size too big mistakenly, 2.5" of extra fabric). She did such a great job, looks like it was never even altered and will be perfect this weekend I have no doubt. I would recommend Young's without hesitation to anyone. start off by saying she does good work, and the dress did come out as desired, however the process to get there was somewhat painful. Cons: 1) Just overall not very professionally run. Again, good work and they were courteous, however they double booked TWICE on me even when I had called to confirm appointments which isn't great for working people who have tighter schedules. She also didn't take notes of what I needed done, which, with how much there was to do, you think she would. So instead, I basically had to reminder her every time I went because she would forget something or didn't make the sleeves as originally asked. 2) They also don't give clear information on pricing, so MAKE SURE YOU ASK. This one is on me because I just trusted the total estimate she gave me ($300-$400) In the end she charged MORE THAN DOUBLE what she originally told me (almost $1000!!!) and when I asked why she didn't tell me. I had it taken in, a bustle added (one that was extremely simple and she said would be cheaper), a belt sewn on, and sleeves added. I had a friend get similar items done to her dress along with a hemming and she paid half what I did at Bahar for work of the same quality. They need to be far more upfront and not just give "ranges" that they don't even stick to. And if they charge by the hour then at least make that clear, especially when they are redoing stuff because they didn't listen to what I originally asked for. Again, this one is on me for going in naively and not requesting written breakdowns on cost that I could hold her to. Way overpriced, I wish I'd challenged her on it more. 3) I scheduled way in advance because I new there was a lot that needed to be done and conveyed that multiple times, along with the date I needed to pick it up, they kept reassuring me there was enough time. As the weeks got closer they finally saw their mistake in putting it off and all of a sudden I had to go to several fittings in a week which was quite frustrating schedule wise. And in the end it wasn't even done when I had originally requested (and reminded several times) and when I went to pick up it they had still forgotten some things. 4) Kind of trivial but was frustrating...she insisted I needed a strapless bra and I had to get it to her right away, so I went and bought one and drove it over but she kept delaying putting it in and in the end didn't add it. So that was a waste of money... :/ Overall, I'd say if you only need something very simple like it taken in or a bustle added, you should be fine. But make sure you get a break down in pricing that you can hold them to BEFORE you give them your dress. Otherwise they will charge more than originally stated and it is so not worth it. If you need anything special, or a lot of work done, I would NOT recommend coming here... read more

It's really unfortunate that something I thought was going to be a fun experience ended up being one of the worst customer service experiences I've had to date. I made an appointment for my wedding dress to be altered back in February, trying to be proactive. A week before my scheduled date in July I'm called and told I have to rebook on a weekday and now I have to take off work and none of my friends or family can come as a result. I go to the new appointment and she proceeds to tell me she can't work on my dress because of the glitter and basically I need to find somewhere else to go. I pushed to have her do my dress and she then tells me I need to go buy a bra to have it sewn in. I do that and bring it back the next day. I go to my follow up appointment a month later and they notice at the end that the bra was never sewn in, so now I need to come back. Last week, I took off half a day from work since they can only get me in at 11 am only to be called and told they forgot the bra again since they're moving between locations. Yesterday, I go to pick up my dress and the bra STILL isn't sewn in and I have to wait an hour and a half for her to sew it in while I'm there while trying on the dress several times because she wouldn't just sew it in completely to start. She ended up taking 35 dollars off of my bill which still came to 500 dollars. Wedding planning is stressful enough without added appointments, unnecessarily taking time off of work, and being told they don't want to work on your dress. This place came highly recommended but that's not the experience I had. read more

I only had about 6 weeks until my wedding and they did their best and worked hard to get it finished in time. Very professional and affordable. I purchased my dress online which ended up being from China and when I received it (ordered my regular size) it didn't fit at all. Couldn't even get the zipper up. There were no exchanges or refunds on the dress so I either had to make it work or not wear it. Took it to Young's Bridal and she reworked the whole dress and after 4 fittings the dress fit perfect and looked incredible. The staff at Young's Bridal are amazing artists! I fell in love with a chiffon wedding dress that consisted of 12 hankerchief type long panels. After purchasing the dress I worried that it would not be able to be altered to accomodate my short stature while keeping the shape of the chiffon panels! Oh, the horrors! Long story short, the ladies at Young's assured me they would be able to do the alterations, shorten the length, shorten the straps, and keep the shape of the 12 separate chiffon panels. They also would add hooks to hold my bra in place as the back of the dress was a deep V cut. Oh my goodness, it was amazing because not only did my dress turn out PERFECT but they completed the work in a couple of weeks!! I just couldn't be more thrilled. I inspected every panel of the dress and it's unbelievable how completely, beautifully and perfectly CONSISTENT their stitches are!! I'm a short woman, (4'11") and I've had to have my good clothes altered all of my adult life, but let me tell you something, I will NEVER take my clothes anywhere else besides Young's, they are amazing! I HIGHLY recommend them. Also, as a side note: Young's was recommended to me by a family member who has a lot of connections in the local community, Young's did some repair work for her friend who took their wedding dress to a "less expensive" seamstress. You get what you pay for, you might find a less expensive seamstress to alter your dress but I guarantee you won't find more talented or competent artists than those at Young's!! read more

The pattern on my dress was really unique so it ended up being a very complicated dress to alter. I was so nervous about it but the owner of the store met with me a few times along the way to make sure I was happy with each part of the alteration, and even came in early on Saturdays before the store opened to accommodate with my schedule! She also took in my flower girl's dress and my mom's dress, and hemmed one of my bridesmaids' dresses. Everything was so great. I highly, highly recommend this place!! read more

I've brought several items in to be altered: a formal gown (their specialty), dresses, shirts, pants, even a tablecloth. Young is always helpful and professional. She is honest as well. I've twice brought in items she suggested I not have altered because the expense would be higher than the value of the items. I appreciate her candor. My parents live in Cinti and used a tailor there that charged them obscene rates to make alterations. They now give me their items to bring to Young's. She does a better job than the Cinti tailor and her rates are more reasonable. You may pay a little more than you'd expect and wait longer than you'd like (typical turn around time is around 2 weeks), but you won't be disappointed with their work. Absolutely not happy with my experience. Firstly, there are two locations and I sent my my bridesmaids dress to Far Hills for an alteration and chest clip. The lady who took me back to do the dress never marked where my clip needed to be placed which I found odd but since I paid for the service and it was in the notes I assumed they knew what they were doing. Upon trying my dress on it was too snug and I ripped the hoop that attaches the button (it's a wrap dress) and asked for that to be fixed. All was good and I was told to pick my dress up by a certain date. I show up a couple days after the date to pick my dress up, get home and there is no clip on the chest part, and the hoop that was "fixed" was sewn on way too small, the button would no longer fit through. I immediately called and they asked me to come in Monday. She then marks where the clip will go and asks where I want it specifically and says she'll get the hoop fixed by Wednesday. I arrive Wednesday and wait an hour to pick my dress up only to be told they couldn't fix the hoop. Mind you someone must've spent an hour trying to get that button through and managed. The lady speaking to me can't get it out and ends up just cutting off the button and saying "you can just pull the string through the hole and it'll be the same thing" I tell her no that's not what I asked for. I want it fixed. She then says she'll sew on a smaller button but can't find any at her shop. So proceeds to shove a safety pin through and tells me to wear it that way. She offered to try to take more time to fix it however I was to leave out of town that evening for the wedding. She just kept saying I don't know who did your dress. She then leaves off with "I won't charge you for anything" like as if I was supposed to pay them to correct THEIR mistakes?!? So I try the dress on at the venue and the clip is way too big and completely shows. No way around it I had to just leave it un clipped and let everything hangout for pictures... I won't be back ever. read more

Young's Bridal was recommended to me for dress alterations by David's Bridal. The initial appointment went well and Miss Young was more than willing to get me in and get started on my dress ASAP. Once the dress was shortened slightly and bust alterations were finished (I'm not very well endowed), it was time to do the bustle. Miss Young demonstrated both an American and a French bustle. With the way my dress was built, I preferred the look of a French bustle and made that known. When we went to pick up the finished dress, the bustle was American and they had lost my dress bag! I had to make another appointment for Miss Young to repin the dress for a French bustle and during said appointment, she was still trying to talk me into an American bustle which I absolutely didn't want! In the end, I ended up with the bustle that I wanted and a new, correct dress bag but with more of a headache than expected. Although the work Miss Young did was good, I didn't appreciate the mistakes that were made along the way. If you're a bride living in Dayton, there aren't many seamstresses to choose from and Miss Young's work is good but expect a few hiccups along the way. read more

I had one fairly positive initial experience with this shop (jeans hemmed) BUT after then rude, terrible, unpredictable experiences after that. The shop owner is petty, rude, and results are unpredictable. She had agreed to consign a wedding dress and then changed her mind about it. I was fine with that, but she basically didn't even want to put the dress back in a cover for me..(she wouldn't give me my garmet bag back) Her daughter was present and made her mother behave half-way courteous and made sure the dress was handed back to me in a nicer manner. Once I had dropped several items to be altered, they were ready early.. someone had left me a phone message telling me to pick them up early.. I did not make it until the following day..the mother/owner had taken my clothes and wadded them up and shoved them into a trash bag..no exaggeration. The owner is unstable and I'd not recommend this place to anyone. read more
