They were late and completely overcharged me tries charging $105 for a simple hem on a bridesmaid dress

Brought a pile of blouses in to be cleaned. Kind of nasty woman behind counter gave an outrageous price. I left!

CASH ONLY???? WTF, it's 2019!!!! I was running late and rushed to pick up my dry cleaning, only to discover they ONLY accept cash (or a personal check, lol) and, of course, I only had my debit card with me. HOWEVER, they do have an ATM inside (yes, right inside doorway) which charges a huge fee!!! So, Mr. Young, you don't want to pay the CC interchange fee but then FUCK your customer with the ATM fee? I mean, who is gonna run 2 blocks for their bank ATM when already running late? Obviously, it's your ATM! As far as the dry cleaning quality itself...average, at best, but insanely overpriced. I guess I'll stick with the dry cleaner across the street (GM) who HAPPILY takes plastic. read more

Do not go to this place ever! They are either unprofessional or incompetent or both - not a good combination. I came by this place and asked for an alteration estimate. I returned next day with my item and received 2.5 the original estimate. Now it's Saturday and I have my full day planned out and bc of these people's complete lack of competence, I am going to carry my items around. Btw, I come from a family where everyone knows how to sow, so to tell me that making 3 seams is "a lot of work" is complete lie. Do not trust these people. read more

Ms. Young is an AMAZING tailor and super inexpensive! I'm so sad this place is closing down, she deserves to have her business stay open. She hemmed 2 pairs of pants of mine for only $30 and did a perfect job. Not to mention how sweet she is. Wish this place wasn't closing :( read more

Ms. Young is the nicest lady and she's really good at what she does. There are a few Dry Cleaners in the area and Yelp helped me pick Ms. Young (others in the area don't have any reviews or didn't have their hours). I dropped off some blazers to be dry cleaners and it only cost me $14 for the two of them. When I came to pick them up I was running a little late and was about to miss the 7pm cutoff but when I walked in the door at 6:58pm, Ms. Young was there counting her register and more than willing to give me what I needed. I am a huge procrastinator and brought in a dress I needed tailored for a wedding wayyyy too late, aka two days before the wedding. I obviously would have totally understood if Ms. Young said she couldn't do it in time (it needed quite a bit of tailoring too) but she was such a sweetheart and was able to squeeze me in and get the dress tailored overnight. I know she didn't have to do that and I am sure many other tailors in the area would have turned me away. It was a weird dress and needed some odd alterations but she made it fit perfectly. She is an absolute angel gem. She also has candy (game changer), dog treats, and an ATM in the shop to pull out cash. Sweetest lady don't go anywhere else!!! read more

I truly had high hopes, based on the reviews. But I'm disappointed, to say the least. I brought in a bridesmaid dress to be hemmed and taken in about an inch. The dress has flowy chiffon on the top, and when I got it back, the style of the chiffon was different. I showed many people the dress, and they agreed that, objectively, it looked different. A friend even told me to just not go back, and to have someone else fix it. (So no, I'm not being unreasonable, as they told me I was.) I thought I'd give them a chance. However, when I brought it in to show the women here, and ask what could be done to get the soft, flowy style back, they immediately got defensive...before it was even out of the bag. She couldn't even entertain the idea of fixing it. I then spent the next 15 minutes explaining to her what was wrong, having to repeat myself because she was not listening. I wasn't blaming her, because I understand how this could happen without a picture of the original dress, but I was simply asking for her to fix it. She wouldn't even listen to my suggestions. If she had even acknowledged that the style was different, it would've been a start. It's wearable, but not the dress I paid $170 on (plus the $70 at her store). But her standoffish attitude when faced with an unhappy customer was unprofessional. I understand she takes pride in her work, but even the best at what they do should be able to admit when something doesn't look right. Unfortunately, I thought this would be a 5 star review. But even if she could fix the dress, the yelling from her and her friend has made me never want to step foot in there again. I advise you don't bring anything you care about here. read more

I haven't had anything cleaned here -- only tailored. Quick and inexpensive. Good service, open from 7 am to 7 pm on weekdays. $20 and 2 days for original hem jeans. For men's tailored shirts it's $15 and they do a great job. I also had a pair of jeans patched/fixed for $15 that came out better than expected. If you buy your jeans at Akira, drop them off here to get tailored quick and easily! Only problem -- they only take cash or check but will tell you how much it will be ahead of time so you can come back prepared. read more

I took in a bridesmaid dress to get hemmed and I cannot speak highly enough of my experience. I started to feel dizzy towards the end of the process (it was hot out and I was dehydrated) and Mrs. Young took amazing care of me. She immediately got me a bottle of water and a piece of candy and helped cool me down with ice packs. She made sure I was okay before I left and promised that my dress would be done within the too tight of a deadline I gave (less than a week). Will always be my dry cleaners. They are so nice and friendly. I had a button missing from a dress I bought and I asked if I could look through their button collection to find a match. She said yes with no charge and even allowed me to take replacement buttons for all the buttons when I didn't find an exact match. Both women are just willing to go out of their way for you. It is cash only, but there's an ATM on site or 7-11 on Clark/Belden which is a USAA-approved Citibank ATM or there's MB ATMs for $1 fees on Clark and Arlington. Great place for tailoring! I went here a few weeks ago to get a coat fitted after it had been messed up by 2 previous tailors. I had almost lost hope that my coat was going to fit normal again, but they made it fit and look amazing!!! I also had a pair of work pants tailored and they did a good job on them too. My go to for tailoring and cleaning. Ms. Young is an excellent tailor and has done much better work for me than the in-house tailors at places like Nordstrom or Brooks Brothers. They're also extremely sweet and conscientious! There might be cheaper places, but this place is a very good price for the quality. read more

My husband and I have also brought a few items here for tailoring and Mrs. Kim is really good at what she does. She will tell you if it's not worth it to get something altered or how big of a job it will be or cost up front - so you can decide whether to move forward. She did a great job on my husband's slacks and has taken in a few blouses and replaced a zipper on my peacoat. Excellent place for tailoring...Brought a pair of suit pants in I need them tapered, hemmed and waist brought in a little bit and needed them done that day as I was leaving town the next day. They had no problem in getting it done only took a couple of hour and only 45 dollars and they came out perfect. Will be bring her at of my stuff there to be tailored! read more

This place is great; the best customer service you can ask for. I drycleaned my girlfriends white coat that she needed cleaned due to yellow rust stains all over it. I came to pick it up and it was ready to go with pretty much no noticeable stains, I was shocked, great job. I have now been taking my cleaning there for about 2 years and love it. read more

I brought a dress in to see how much they could take out- the lady found an open seam and shoved her hand in it to make it bigger just so she could look in the seams. Then when I spoke to her about it she was super rude and only said she could fix it about halfway and if she fixed it entirely she would charge me $10. I was recommended to this place by a store manager at Akira. I bought two items that had been significantly marked down because of damages/defects. My first item was a blouse that had two buttons missing in the back (there were only supposed to be two buttons, and both were gone!) The seamstress let me choose two beautiful matching buttons and fixed them immediately--FOR FREE--while I was still in the store. My other item had a defective zipper. The seamstress first tried to fix it with some waxy stuff and an iron, but when that didn't work, she told me it would cost $15 to replace the whole zipper (only about 7 inches long). I thought $15 was kinda pricey (esp. adding to the cost of my dress), but I went with it because she was so nice and because I had traveled far from my house. Later, I called my favorite cheap cleaners (and two other places that do alterations) to check on the price of a new zipper. All three places charge about the same or more, so I decided the $15 wasn't too high. The 2 reasons this place didn't get 5 stars is 1) It took five days to fix a simple zipper (should've taken one-two days, tops) 2) When I went to pick up the dress, the lady quoted me a different price. (I reminded her that she originally told me $15, so she let me pay $15, which was fine). Great customer service, very friendly, and quality work. I recommend this place. read more

I first started going to Young's when she and I were both youngsters in our 20s...that was 25 years ago. And even though I've moved from the neighborhood and even though I have a regular cleaner (also excellent) closer to my home, I still take things to her from time to time because I'm so grateful for the outstanding cleaning, service and smiles over the years and because I love her so much. This place ruined two pairs of brand new jeans by over-shortening them. When I took the jeans in to show that they were too short, there was no apology at all. They claimed they could stretch the legs, which would permanently make the legs longer by an inch. It didn't work. I won't be going back. read more

This place is great for tailoring. I went in here with my dog several months ago to get a dress and pants done. They were friendly, accommodating and dog friendly. They even noticed that my dog's collar was a little torn and fixed it for me for free while I was getting measurements! They went above and beyond and I'll definitely be back. read more

When I moved here from Boston I was a lost puppy without my tailor/dry cleaner of 7 years....then a neighbor recommended Young's. I have now find my tailoring and dry cleaning home! Their hours are so convenient and Mrs. Young and her staff are always friendly and professional. I love the fact that I can get my jeans tailored with the original hem for $20 AND it's ready 2 days later! Their tailoring work is impeccable...even though I moved to Old Town I still bring my items to Young's cleaners because I truly can't find a better place in the area. read more
