It's beautifully lit and the various art installations/framed photos on the walls made it an interesting place to hang around and wait for the next act to begin. The (volunteer?) staff was collectively young, hip (I refuse to call anyone a hipster anymore, but I guess they fit the mold) and really very friendly. Randy Bacon doesn't hold shows very often, nor do I know if it'll up the frequency at all in future months, but seeing Why? here was so ideal and made for such a memorable evening. Minus one star because there were noticeable sound problems that stressed the opening acts out a little and pushed back the door opening time, but it really wasn't a big deal to me as I was running a merch table and therefore didn't have to wait outside. Basically, if you hear of a show coming to Randy Bacon anytime in the future, it'll probably be worth going to. I was impressed.

Although I personally feel like that has changed somewhat over the years, I think the Trolley Bike injects a heavy dose of fun to this city. For those who don't know, the Trolley Bike is a people powered monstrosity that is way more fun than the mere sum of its parts. A literal party on wheels, its unique combination of multi-passenger bicycle, music, alcohol, the outdoors, and 12 or so friends is what really characterizes the experience. As an avid indoors man, I couldn't tell you when I last hopped on a bike, much less enjoyed being outside in cold weather. The Trolley Bike, however, made both experiences fun. In short, this is one of the best additions to Springfield's (arguably short) "things to do" list. I would highly recommend a trip on the Trolley Bike.

I was in a big rush, the opening of the Circus was the next day and I still needed Makeup, a nose, a wig, and a bunch of other little accessories. One of the other guys in the Shrine Clown Unit recommended this place as THE place to get professional makeup and all the other stuff I needed. So the day before, I realize I can't even make it to the shop to even look at all the stuff they have, big problem. Solution, I call them, take up about 45 minutes of the poor girl that answers the phone, she walks me through what other products the guys in my unit like. She gets me on their website and it's just like being in the store. She made great recommendations that made my first weekend working the circus for the Shrine a lot less stressful and I had so many compliments on my makeup from all the veteran clowns. and I was able to do it all over the phone and have a good friend pick it up for me, Thanks Kit S. So my point, if you need to become a clown in a hurry, these are the people to call.
