Within the first 15 minutes, we knew our event would be in talented, capable hands. She came armed with her color-coded planner and a zipper pouch of pens and pencils. Her attention was riveted on our every response to her probing questions regarding what we wanted our event to be. Clearly she was extremely organized and obviously she cared. We couldn't sign the contract fast enough, so no one else could book her for our date. It was one of the best decisions we've ever made. We cannot say enough about the magic Elizabeth performed to make our celebration, in the words of many of our guests, "the best event I've ever attended." Her monthly reminder lists were invaluable in keeping us on track. She was absolutely unflappable and completely calm, even when we made major changes, like the time of the event and the venue. She just congenially accommodated our requests and "fixed" everything we had disrupted. She truly wanted this to be our dream event. Some of the best elements of the celebration would not have been possible without Elizabeth's guidance and assistance. She has such an extensive knowledge of talent in the Atlanta area that when we asked at a fairly late date to have a caricaturist and a living statue, she simply made it happen. She was also an effective advocate for us in persuading the venue to ease some of their policies to permit one of our special requests. On the day of our main event, Elizabeth and her assistant Kat absolutely transformed the blank slate of the ballroom into an exquisite event space in what seemed a very short time. Then we were able to see how all the choices and decisions she helped us make over the previous months came together with her talent to create exactly the look we had wanted. The entire evening went off flawlessly thanks to Elizabeth's talent and skills. At the end of the event, while we were saying goodbye to our guests, Elizabeth and Kat distributed centerpieces to our delighted guests, rounded up all the items that were rented, and packed up our personal items. By the time we thought to inquire about our things, they had been safely stored in our hotel room. As a current bride-to-be, I'm one of those seemingly rare girls who never daydreamed about my…read morewedding. Needless to say, upon getting engaged I was lost and clueless on how to plan a wedding. Sure, I'd been to a few but this was going to be My Day, not my friends' days. I had to find guidance. Enter The Not Wedding, a yearly event where brides and their moms/fiances/bridesmaids/family/etc pay money to become guests of a "wedding" that is put on by different vendors every year. The vendors treat this as a real wedding so you can see how they perform under pressure to please an extremely large crowd. I was very impressed. All three photography companies did an excellent job, all the event planners and decorators and bands and dress designers did amazingly incredible work. The best part about it? It features local folks like you and me. Second best part? If you go with many of these vendors, you'll know you're getting a customized wedding just for you. No cookie cutter weddings here! We found our caterer through this event, discovered a cake we weren't too fond of, found a vintage decorator to work with, and even reconnected with an old friend from long ago only to discover we a) live 5 minutes apart, b) we are getting married at the same location, and c) I really needed to contact her wedding coordinator and now she's also my coordinator. Lots of things that normally you'd pay money for tastings and trials but here was everyone's work out for all to see and it was only $35 a person. I saw bridal shows asking for more money and those are just places where run of the mill vendors from all over the place harass you into buying things. Give this a whirl if you want something fresh, fun, and YOU. If you have an extra long engagement, go twice! Vendors change out yearly and again, they are all local. Best way to get ideas is to see it all in action, hands down. They're now expanding to San Diego and Orlando this year, which is great news for brides in those locations!
