Having difficulty like so many, I went for an appointment where I was assessed, a diagnosis was given and a treatment plan was explained by Sally who was very thorough and knowledgeable. At no point was there any 'hard sell' to book in for treatment. My management plan was explained should I book back in for treatment and I felt totally looked after. I am booking back in as I was filled with confidence that the cause of my symptoms will be treated as opposed to just being given some possible prescription to over come the pain and discomfort I have. The folks at Hilton reception suggested my brother take me to this specialist eye hospital, rather than the local A & E, and I am so grateful they made this suggestion cause I was treated immediately and with the best of care. My brother dropped me off front as he had to find parking and my thanks to the gentleman at the front counter who guided me towards assessment because at that time, I was just in such excruciating pain, I couldn't see anything from either of my eyes. Nurse Jane did my assessment and it was bad enough that I was skipped over the patients waiting in emergency, and taken in to see Nurse Anna a mere 10 mins later after my paperwork was submitted. My thanks and gratitude to both Nurses who were both so fantastic, and took such excellent care of me! After this triage, it was determined that I needed to see the Doctor and this took a while. Finally around 90 minutes later, got to see the Doctor, she diagnosed "Iritis" and I was prescribed a antibiotics plus steroids eye-drop course. Dr Khan was very through and fantastic about going thru my treatment for the next 5 weeks. After that, headed to the pharmacy (located in the main hospital building) and yeah while true total wait time was long, overall was very pleased with the quality of care and professionalism of all staff encountered. I have recommended her to a number of friends and all have had excellent outcomes. Although I have not used the other services such as acupuncture, chiropody or Alexander Technique training, it is clear that Claire has put great care in building a team of caring experts in each discipline to maintain a consistently high standard. However inside the place is clean, the staff are friendly and it is a safe environment to be in - which feels strange after you have found yourself walking into the crypts of the block of flats. The surgery is also ideally placed for discretion, you can approach the surgery form North Street and get spotted by a number of people, but if you are cunning you can approach from one of the side streets where you will only be spotted by the surgeries token 'hang-about'!

In contrast with other NHS surgeries, its not too difficult to get an appointment to see the doctor, you can either ring up at 8.30 in the morning for an appointment that day (don't leave it any later though or all the appointment slots will have been taken) or you can book for some late afternoon appointments in advance. If you wish to see a particular doctor you may have to wait a couple of weeks for the exact date and time you want but if you are ill, they wil always see you. The receptionists are always really friendly and helpful.

Patients are currently being asked if they mind being switched to other surgeries or would prefer a new GP be recruited to take on the practice. I really hope the latter is the case. Although the facilities are admittedly squashed, I have always found the practice to be well run and the staff friendly and discreet. Appointments are given promptly and each morning's open surgery is extremely well-run. And the practice nurse is extremely friendly. I found Dr Thompson a supportive and efficient GP when she was there and most of the GPs standing in have been good. The practice also arranges for prescriptions to be sent to certain local pharmacies to be picked up, and they always respond to answer phone messages promptly.
