I called 15 minutes into the shift and again an hour later. Both times "they were on the other lines helping other customers," but would return my call. Now it's thirty minutes past the end of the shift and I still have heard nothing. I get it that the shift is after normal office hours, but they're supposed to have someone available to at least explore and share what's going on. Will we have a caregiver for tomorrow's shift? It would be nice to be able to reliably say, "Yes" instead of, "I guess we'll see." They get one more chance with me. Three strikes and they're out.

The employee suffered a seizure (per MPD her family commented on a history of epilepsy at the hospital) within minutes of dropping my mom off at her home. My mother's DL and blank checks were found in the employee's vehicle. The MPD is currently charging her with a federal offense. I submitted a letter to Synergy HomeCare regarding the stolen money and background check concerns. Per Synergy HomeCare management in Daphne, Al. "I do want to share with you that in the state of Alabama we unfortunately don't have any homecare guidelines, requirements, licensing of any kind. It is a totally unregulated state. This means a background check or MVR isn't even required" We also submitted a letter to their corporate office as well as the Department of Aging and Disability Services. The employee in my mom's situation was found to have several active traffic warrants at the time of her wreck and arrest. I conducted a search of public traffic violation records and found several citations for NO DL, NO insurance, running red lights, etc. These citations spanned from 2009-2024. IF you decide to employ the services of Synergy HomeCare you will basically have to conduct your own background checks on each and every employee, they send to your home to care for your loved one and drive them around if needed. This would include requiring proof of a valid DL and car insurance EACH AND EVERY MONTH because Synergy is not LEGALLY Obligated to do so nor MORRALLY Obligated to do so.
