But got a bit disappointed earlier today, I went in such a rush driving as I came all the way from Surrey trying to catch the store open before they close. Since there is no store like this in there. So I got there around 8:36, and asked the lady if I could have the birthday balloons decorations I needed to surprise my friend. This is around 8:40. Got told that she can't because apparently they close the helium tank by 8:30 or 8:40, and there's no chance she can do it she said. This is disappointing for not being so reliable coming to this kind of situation. I know I came and ask at 8:40. But still there is so much time to get it done. It's not like I wanted 100 balloons blown up. Some people have work and just got off but still try to make time and rush to be able to get what they need for the occasion. I have been to the other locations in the past getting the same things every time there is an event and I need something. This location is the only one who refused to put helium on the balloons, because it's already off by 8:30/40. Says that store closes at 9pm. But some of the resources inside are not even available by 8:30pm, is what's crazy. Just wanted to let everything out here, cause this simple thing ruined the whole plan for the surprise I have tonight. Not a reliable store.

Every single visit feels like I'm being treated as a criminal. The owner constantly sends employees to trail me around the aisles as if I'm shoplifting -- despite the fact that I've been a long-time paying customer. One incident that clearly triggered this nonsense was when I was injured and using a cane. I was juggling my cane, shopping bag, and items, realized I forgot something, and walked back to add it to my purchase before paying. Apparently basic common sense escaped them, because since then I've been watched like I'm about to rob the place.

For example I will have them go to the end of the checkout and bag our items in a bag with another stores logo, and she will say we took that bag from there. Last I checked dollar tree doesn't sell Lululemon or Purdy's chocolate. She also has NEVER said thank you. Just tosses our receipt down and looks away. Now there is a newer cashier there that does not know how to count Canadian coins and embarrassed me in line. I had to count my change for her twice, both times she then recounted it and said I was short. I was not, and if she knew the value of each coin it could have saved me the frustration and embarrassment. When I tried to explain the value of the coins to her she tossed the in the till before I could prove it. It's not like it was a handful, it was three quarters and four nickels. She also told me to grab my own receipt... out of the machine.

It's definitely much smaller than most other similar stores, but they have the essentials, and they also do helium balloons, including the big metallic letters/numbers. I don't shop here often, aside from the aforementioned balloons, which I got for my wife's birthday, and they dutifully wrote my name down along with the day I'd need to pick them up. Other purchases have included random stuff like pop, batteries, etc. The reason I'm giving them five stars is because the older Korean couple running the store are some of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. They're so nice, I want to buy stuff I don't need just to give them business. Always friendly and helpful, and they apologized to ME because I tried to use my card to pay for something that was only a couple dollars but store policy is $3 and over. I gladly grabbed an LED flashlight and a Coke Zero to make it up. This shop is the definition of friendly mom and pop store.

I just did not have much to do on Super Bowl Sunday because I don't watch football. I was walking around Vancouver and I thought I would go in and look around. I thought it was pretty decent for a dollar store , although it was a little bit small. The "dollar store" doesn't seem to be a literal thing anymore, as a lot of items were over a dollar. However, they had some more useful stuff than I usually see at a store like this one. They had some useful office supplies, Pyrex pie plates, and "acceptable", though probably not long lasting, looking cookware. I actually bought a couple small things there that I had been meaning to pick up at the hardware store. The most expensive thing I saw was a drying rack for $28. This seemed like a pleasant store to me and, bonus, it doesn't have the overwhelming smell of plastic. I am still thinking I need that glass pie plate. The area does not seem "touristy", but this store did have a selection of postcards and very small gifts (magnets, patches, pencils, postcards).

Came here on my hunt for cheapo goodies…read more Parking is available in front on Hastings, as well as the various free lots dotting the S side of Hastings. The inside is newer than Dollar Giant (yay!), but the selection is mostly identical. Not too surprising. Oh, and they also pulled the "$1.25" thing. Sigh. One thing to note - they are open longer than Dollar Tree on all 7 days. Something to keep in mind.

There's a lot of items that are still a $1 (yay) and those that aren't have a sticker with the price on it. They have a selection of things from kitchenware, house ware, food items, gardening, tools, stationary, seasonal holidays....your typical dollar store. However, I felt like this store had items where the quality was better made or things were made with better materials. I like that there is parking and it's free. The only draw back is that it is located on a busy southwest Marine Drive. However, I'd be willing to drive here for the bargain.

Walked here to check out snacks/food what offerings the store had…read more The store is underground? You enter at the street level and take an escalator or stairs down to enter the store. The area is very dirty and not well maintained. Once in the store the shelves are very high and narrow. It is a very overwhelming feeling if you are sensitive to small spaces/claustrophobic. The amount of items in there is very overwhelming as well. I didn't stay long and mostly stuck to the snacks and candy. They have a large area near the check out that has candy, gum etc. Purchased an aero bar, coffee crisp, kit kit and toffee candy bar. For 4 candy bars (I either didn't get a receipt, didn't take it or lost it but it was $4.07 USD. There were 3 self check outs and one staff there to check out as well. Saw employees in aisles but only one at registers. Overall it was an underwhelming and overwhelming experience and I would not go out of my way to go back if in the area.

THE GOODS There are other dollar stores nearby (e.g. 5 and Cambie, Lansdowne, etc.) but this one is the winnah partly because of the selection: the store looks small on the outside next to PetSmart but it's large or deep on the inside. From housewares, to toys, to electronics, even to fresh breads and other groceries, there's likely something for you, especially as inflation and recession hit us post-pandemic. They do a pretty good job of bringing in seasonal (e.g. Halloween and now Christmas) items, and it's definitely our go-to place for greeting cards and gift wrap/bags. === 3. SERVICE Every time we've visited, we've had courteous service in the aisles when needing help and at check out: better than the competition. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's big and brightly-lit and relatively clean. It does get very busy though (for good reason), but that means baby strollers and wheelchairs may be squeezed in the aisles. You have everything from cards to balloons to electronics ($2 HDMI cables ftw!) and pet supplies. I could feel the clouds parting and a rainbow appearing. The location is quite convenient if you want to hop over the bridge, so I'm sure I'll be back.
