Two years ago, my mother died. This past February, my dad died. Trying to get through that reality is tough enough....and we're still not over that. If that weren't enough, my brother and I also had the daunting, emotional task of going through their entire house with SIXTY years of memories and THINGS to be gone through, which then needed to be split between 3 children and 7 grandchildren, or even discarded. As difficult as their passings were, the crashing reality of having to go through all their stuff and divvy it up was beyond gut-renching. Yet, it had to be done. As my brother and I met every week, twice a week, making a little more dent into all our parents' possessions, we realized that in order to get this house ready for putting on the market, we would need to hold an estate-type sale for all the items we didn't want. Yet, neither of us had the experience or time to put something of this magnitude together. We had no idea what to charge, how to display things, where to run the ads, how to draw the people to the sale, or anything else related to that. In a desperate mode, I went onto Craigslist and found an ad regarding the need for help to run a garage/estate sale. What's this? Was this what I was looking for? I quickly called the number, and sure enough, this lady had herself experienced a similar loss, was in the antique business with her sister and other family members, and decided to open her own business with her sister helping people like me and my brother close down and out items in a house. Collette and Terri are these two sisters, with not only a love and admiration for each other, but for their clients, as well. From the moment they met us at our parents' home, greeting us with warm hugs and hellos, we instantly bonded with them. It would have been impossible not to bond with them. They are sweet, wonderful, caring and empathetic ladies. They came equipped with paperwork to show us, along with talking to us for well over an hour on what they do, what to expect, and how it all goes. My brother looked at me and nodded with approval as if, let's do this and let Collette and Terri help us out.... and help us out they did. Here's the thing, if you're looking to make a HUGE profit with their help, it's simply not going to happen. These miracle workers will charge a fee, but whatever it adds up to, it's oh so worth it. They will likely get you a decent profit, but it's more about getting this sale off the ground and moving out as much stuff as possible with as much care and concern and speed as they can muster. These ladies went through every INCH of that house, moved everything into an amazing semblance of order, well displayed and labeled each and every piece with an honest, accurate price, ran ads, called upon their hundreds of garage sale followers, cleaned the house, ran the entire sale, and did it all with a smile and many hugs. Sweetness and kindness is who they are. Smart, savvy business women, as well, Collette and Terri (they call each other "sis") will get this horrible, daunting task done.....and done FAST. These two ladies run amazing estate sales. They are friendly, helpful and very courteous. I really enjoyed meeting these two ladies and getting a fair price for items and also making their client happy. Sometimes that is very difficult. I can't wait till the next one. My brother and I took two years after Mom died to slowly work through the boxes, the closets, the memories and discoveries that other reviewers have described. The process of unearthing all 50+ years and revisiting your own and your parents history - that is priceless. But then, you need help. We didn't have high value stuff to warrent a full-on estate sale. We had an assortment of vintage clothes, books, costume jewelry, and interesting flotsam/jetsam, plus some 50s furniture. Despite all our work, the house was still so full... we wanted it to have a chance to live on with new people. We are so glad we chose Colette and Terri to help us with this. They have a lot more energy than we did. They also thought creatively and made a proposal: instead of an estate sale approach, how about if they focus on packing the items for donation, and at the same time they would invite folks from their network to buy things they were specifically interested in. This worked very well for us. The result after 4 days in our case was that the donations were in the garage, listed and ready to go, donation pickup schedled, quite a lot had been sold, and progress had been made that would have taken my brother and I a good 6 months solid time to pull off. The sales more than covered their time spent and getting all those donations packed for us. Colette and Terri provided exactly the help we needed and we were able to finally put our family home on the market. What made the process exceptional was the heart they bring. They really understood us and the meaning of the things in the house. They graciously balanced respect for our family's past and the reality of needing to get the job done. I feel huge affinity with Claudia B's review from 2012: I think that review was how we found "Your Helping Hand", and my brother and I have just had the same great transformative experience almost 3 years later. We can add that the sisters can look at your situation, your needs, what you want to achieve, and will come up with their best creative and realistic ideas for how to approach it. The sisters, Collette and Terry, are just that: "your helping hand". My husband, son and I took on the task of moving my almost-90-year-old father from his home of 57 years to No. California where we live. I handled the bulk of the purging, organizing and packing. Then I returned home. A couple days later my husband and son flew down to load up a U-Haul with the things my dad kept and drive it up to No. California. My dad flew to No. California and I picked him up at the airport. It was a daunting task flying down to my dad's for 12 days one month and then 18 days the next month to help purge things and pack up what he wanted to take, while trying to run my own life from a far. I was stressing about how to handle selling the massive amount of tools, most of his furniture, and lots of household items when I live 450 miles away. I was trying to figure out the logistics of selling items, but needing somewhere to sleep and a way to cook meals. Fortunately the realtor we hired knew of the sisters who are Your Helping Hand. Like Claudia, we bonded with them right away when they came over to see what my dad had to sell and to give us an estimate of their fee and his potential profit. Their fee is extremely reasonable for what they do and how well they do it. They have a three phase approach. They organize and hold an estate sale. Next they work with a charity to donate items that didn't sell. Phase three is working with the city/county to make sure everything else is discarded and they leave the home clean for the buyers. Hiring them took a lot of load off of me. It was so great to get my dad's items and him out of the house, giving them a couple weeks before close of escrow to work their magic. They post many photos in their ad for the estate sale and I know they have a lot of followers as they say, because one of my dad's neighbors called the first day of the sale and gave us an account of how busy things were. I called three of their references and everyone raved about them as I am now doing. They're down-to-earth and very honest. I just wish they had a branch in my part of the state so that I could recommend them to any of my friends that might need their help. read more

My mother passed away in April 2012. Since that time, I tried to clean out fifty or sixty years of accumulated stuff in my parents home. Over the last fifteen or so years my mother had become somewhat of a horder. After months of very slow progress, I was introduced to Colette and Teri. They are amazing!! They got right to work and in just days organized and set up an estate sale. They got far more for the items than I would have and sold almost everything. I then hired them to do the final cleaning of the house. I'm not kidding when I say that the house is like it was when I lived there some forty years ago. Colette and Teri have the energy and enthusiasm of teenagers! Watching them work made me tired! I could'nt be happier with the results and I could'nt have asked for more caring and compassionate people.
