Absolutely horrible experience today. This incident took place on Friday July 17th at 4:30-5pm. An older lady was checking us out, didn't get the name but had a nicotine or some type of patch. Working the 2nd or 3rd isle away from the exit. She was the rudest cashier I have ever seen. Said a bunch of weird things that made me feel really uncomfortable. Was so mouthy and screamed at me because I wanted to put down a divider, she put her hands on me as well, which was the most hurtful and unprofessional thing I have ever witnessed in a workplace. What happened to professionalism in the workplace? I've been going through something recently and was nervous to go out already today, so I have been spiralling ever since this incident. Please watch the type of people you hire, and better yet their behaviour in the workplace. I hope Todd's Independence can take appropriate action against this employee, to prevent incidents like this from happening to others in the future. If you shop here, prepare yourself to deal with the most rude, ignorant and stuck up cashiers. Shame on Todd's Independence, and termination of this specific cashier would be greatly appreciated. read more

The produce is not fresh and quite often the packaged salads have gone bad. Foodland in town has fresh produce all the time. How can the same coffee creamer be $2.00 cheaper in food land. I shop at both depending on what i need to buy. read more

why are the cashiers asking if I want to round up my bill to the nearest dollar.. we are already getting ripped off on most items. so glad I purchased a costco membership. well worth the drive to Orillia. Only go there now to pick up a few veggies and I have a big smile on my face. Not getting my 13,000 dollars every year anymore. read more

I have been shopping here for 6 years, the store is getting grubbier and produce disgusting for the price. Nothing is fresh anymore and products in flyers are not even available the first day of sale. I feel if you are going to charge more than the city then at least have fresh produce. I would love to support local businesses but refuse to be gouged. I guess I will have to shop in Peterborough once a week. read more

I went to Independent to do a large grocery shopping. My cart was full to overflowing and my bill was $242. The check out person started to help me with packing the groceries into the bags I'd brought but when I said to her not to pack them too heavy (I have spinal issues), she threw down the bags and wouldn't continue to help. I had about half of the items still to pack so the check out person just stood there with her arms crossed for about five minutes while I tried to finish bagging everything. The woman behind me had to stand and wait for me to finish, while my back was bothering me so much i could hardly stand. This is not the first time i have had a very rude and lazy check out person. I've reported it to customer service but there has been no change or improvement. I like the variety of items available and the quality of PC products but when someone spends between $250 to $350 a visit, I think we are entitled to at least a civil check out person. If they don't like their jobs, work somewhere else. read more

Yes, they stock groceries, but don't count on being treated nice. If you have ANY issues at all with the cash, WRONG PRICES, Your card won't work, ANYTHING! They treat you like crap. I have seen numerous other customers get abused and ridiculed by the staff. It's really unbelievable. I walked out behind a couple last week and I heard the woman say she would never shop there if she lived in Haliburton. Clearly she was from out of town. It's not just one cashier either, and to be fair it may not be all of them, but we have experienced the abuse from enough of them that I won't shop there anymore. read more

I have been using Todd's parking lot pick up for most of the pandemic. I am called the day of pick up to be informed of any substitutions or to be informed if anything is out of stock. If anything is near expiry, I am Informed of that. I find the staff to be extremely polite, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend using this service. I was in the store Yesterday and bought a ready made salad which I do a lot since its convenient , Now all I hear about these days is too much plastic used and wasted Rightly so I agree completely . So when i got my salad which as of yesterday is newly packages with lettuce on the bottom and all plastic separated with tom, olives , feta ,cucumber and so on My Thought was Wow a big store like this in a small town using all this wasted Plastic also my understanding was that Independent was going to stop using plastic bags to get people to start bring in their own bags Not sure I understand u want to lessen the Plastic use but have drastically increased the use of plastic So just wondering what the deal was are we all as a community going to lessen the plastic in our waste sites or are we all talk no action read more

I waited 45 minutes outside in line in the hot sun. The person at the cart area was very nice got my cart and went to the soup area, Campbell's soup because it was on sale for 50 cents a can. The shelves were empty and I went to ask a employee if they had more soup. He said they did but he wasn't going to get it till later that afternoon. I told him I stood outside for 45 minutes and you have it but I have to wait 2 or 3 more hours to get soup. I said a few choice words and turned around and left. This is not the first time I've been treated in this manner. I will NEVER shop there again and I live here!! read more

Stopped in for a few items yesterday. As the lady scanned my items I noticed a small container of bulk olives scanned at $52.00. The cashier credited and it scanned again at $52.00. She went to the deli and they rang the olives up using black forest ham code and it came out a little over $5.00. It then took 3 people to get the second $52.00 charge credited. On my way out I thought I better check my receipt only to find that 1 bulb of garlic scanned at $22.00. Now I had to go to customer service. The lady there wasn't sure about the scale so someone else weighed the garlic. She said it now scanned at $8.00. I asked her if she thought that made sense. She said she didn't know because she doesn't buy raw garlic. I got a total credit and went to Foodland where I bought a bulb of garlic for 60 cents. Check your receipts folks. It seems Independent has a big problem with their system. read more
