It's awful how they use marketing to trick people into using their service. Below the deal for 1 pound at least mention that there are LOADS of additional fees. Or at least do it when speaking on the phone to arrange an appointment, not upon arrival!!! I was told that half of the money I've paid will be refunded to me once I move out (as I haven't used the storage for the whole month) but guess what? No one even bothered to take my account details to which transfer the refund until I emailed them myself a month later. It's been over a week from me emailing Shurgard with my account details and I still didn't receive any money back. Great storage deal for £1 a month? I don't think so. On the other hand, Rory working in Shurgard Self-Storage Chingford is a great worker, he managed to do his best and even remembered my name when I came back a few weeks later. That's the only positive thing that I can think of my experience with Shurgard Chingford.

Their opening hours are a little restrictive, it's day times only and they close at 4pm on a Sunday and 6pm most other nights. The fourth star is for the staff, I turned up around 4:30 on a recent Sunday thinking they were open until 5pm and I was let in so I could retrieve a few bits and bobs. It's all clean, professional and secure and I like them. They would get 5 stars if they were open to something sensible like 10pm.

I have had storage with Safe House at White heart lane for many years with my paintings, prints,…read moredrawings, books and etching plates, I am a fine artist. I have noticed over the past years that security was very slack and this summer when I was putting new paintings into the storage I noticed a large amount of tyres and some gas cylinders. Some people were using their storage as offices and in winter using gas cylinder fires to keep warm. I wondered what would happen if there was a fire , I felt that it could easily happen as there was no monitoring of activity or security. I ask the staff why I was put in zone F which seemed to be the busiest of them all and they said it was it was easier for them as they were the nearest to the offices. I really don't think that safe house knew what was being stored on their premises , and I fell that they were extremely negligent.
