Are those trained men's hair-masters now extinct? Pity. Most recently, on a warm day in February, Hair Secrets was the establishment blessed with my challenge. "Do you cut men's hair?" "Yes." Filled with expectant joy, I nestled down on the outdated barber's chair. I'm sorry, folks, but I've gotten to the point, that by feeling how the hair-cutter handles and snips at my hair, I get a pretty accurate picture of how it is going to turn out. The way my hair was being handled, and the action of the scissors seemed "off" somehow. It is with deep regret I report that my prediction proved true. "Just a quarter inch here," I had instructed, "and an inch here." "A little extra off the back," I elaborated, "but leave a little covering the ears." I sat in stoic silence as my beautiful locks were treated. So now there are two things to say. First, more of my hair was cut off than I had asked to have cut off. I said a quarter inch to an inch. Over two inches were removed from some spots. Second, my hair is tiered. Who wants tiered hair! (If you do, go here.) I went in with my hair shaped, blended, but slightly long, and left looking like the eighth Dwarf, "Choppy". I was pretty disappointed. I went to a barber school once. I got a great discount for my haircut, but it did not look all that good. That was okay, because I knew beforehand what I was getting into - greenhorn barbers, residents in training, experimentation. Plus I got a discount. But Hair Secrets is not a barber school, and did not give me a discount. I would say that you might be dissatisfied if you go to Hair Secrets for a man's haircut. On the other hand, I cannot say what the quality of care for women's hair there is. So if you are a woman, go ahead and try them out, and then write a review in Yelp. (Maybe i should wear a baseball cap till it grows back.)

I scheduled an appointment online and was contacted by Jaz two hours before my appointment to cancel. She rescheduled for the next day. Jaz again canceled two hours before my appointment. At that point, I wouldn't be able to find another salon for the interview I wanted to cut my hair for. Anyway, so Jaz offers me a free deep condition. I tell her I'd rather a discounted haircut and that I don't use conditioner. She agrees. I will go ahead and spoil this by saying she did not give me the discount and did put conditioner in my hair after saying she was "just wetting it" when I told her I'd already washed my hair. I had a specific inspo in mind. I'd been growing my hair out for it. I wanted a Ramona Flowers type thing but with a blunt cut because of my hair type. Jaz sloppily stuck two pieces up and when she cut them they were super unevenly distributed. One was made of like 5 hairs and one was thick like I wanted. She blamed it on my cowlick which makes no sense. I went home and cut it. I was a little disappointed but whatever. Until I realized later that the conditioner had been hiding a pretty not blunt cut otherwise. I am so upset. It was an expensive cut, she made me wait like a week beyond my appointment for it, didn't give me my discount, and when I contacted her to tell her that I didn't like it, she said I could rebook. As if I'm giving her another $50. And mind you, she took like 30 minutes on it! No time at all. I have no idea what I did to this lady. Invest in a three way mirror, y'all. Customer service is down the drain.

A little nondescript, small, and little on the decoration appealed to me since I am not up for paying for the lavish accoutrements. My needs are conversation and a good haircut. Nikki, the owner - does both with style and grace. I've sent my neighbors there and they keep going back. So now I'm hoping to send you there. I think you'll find the service perfect and the small town feel that I love about Longmont is definitely alive and well.

Diane decided I needed more highlights and lowlights She proceeded to put bleach on already bleached hair, put me under a hot dryer for 30 to 40 minutes without checking my hair once. Finally she laughs and says you're white. After shampooing out which left soap at the back of my head, blows out my hair which is dried out and fried. I paid $145 and a 20% tip because I really didn't realize how bad it was till I went home and tried to style it or make it look like hair. i told her and she said I'll give you some samples to get it back! unbelievable Buyer Beware!
