SELLING PROGRAM: This door-to-door sales program is one of the most frustrating and challenging experiences because of the long hours, pay structure, and rejection. However, you learn a lot from the experience. I ONLY recommend the program for young people who want to humble themselves, travel somewhere new, and learn the skills of sales/communication. I've seen students profit anywhere from $500 to $20,000 (with expenses around $3,000 for a summer). They have all the profit stuff listed under www.southwesternadvantage.com/disclosure if you're curious. RECRUITING/LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: Mixed feelings here. I think MOST students benefit from having a door-to-door experience, whether to humble them or build some work ethic in them. The leadership team is great. However, I think there are a handful of students who are encouraged to sell multiple summers who shouldn't. Overall, good program. Will change your life. Not for everyone. Doing this program doesn't mean you'll be a successful person, not doing this program doesn't mean you'll be a shitty person.

Books are so expensive and don't fit the standards of state requirements. These books are just…read moreguides, very expensive guides that you could get off the internet. I have seen black books made by the same business on Amazon for $6 to $25, but nothing like $1,069 for six books that don't give your child lessons, practice, or hands-on activities. The app is terrible, just like the books. The extra books they want you to buy are nearly the same thing. You don't get a curriculum; you get references and resources. When you tell the person selling the books to you no because of money issues or other reasons many times, they just keep trying until you feel sorry for them. When you tell them many times that you don't know other people and they keep asking, they don't listen and still ask.
