Home away from home. Homestyle tapas, English, comforting, somewhere to sit down and spend an evening. Also, the whole street is sleepy during the day and a hot spot at night. It was my favorite little corner during my week in Dénia. read more

Fresh, light salads; pasta so good I over-ate; and a light-as-air cheesecake with fresh berry compote that I will be having on my next visit to Altea! While a hearty eater could certainly find plenty to like on this menu, definitely also vegetarian friendly. Because the restaurant is small, the interaction with owner and staff feels very personal and welcoming--again, making me want to return.

Has been open since October. Very relaxed place to eat a nice lunch, have a glass or two (or more!) or wine and drinks. Can sit inside or in a nice lounge environment al fresco. The food is all hand made and home made. Highly recommend. We had a nice salad and grilled prawns for Mom and Dad while our kids had chicken in lemon/orange sauce. I found the sauce delicious but we had to scrape the sauce off for the kids. The owners saw what we were doing and offered to cook us new chicken without the sauce but it was fine. As you can imagine, being Italian, great coffees here too. We will be back!!

We were enthusiastically greeted and made to feel comfortable. It was late afternoon , an odd time for lunch in Spain (I mean 5 o'clock). The menu was all available, including a delicious looking set of tapas, sandwiches and a course menu for 17.95€. We had some tapas and sandwiches. My burger was beautifully put together and tasty, juicy and nicely. We had some drinks and coffee and all came to 32€. It's not everyone who wants to climb the very windy though nicely surfaced road to get here. But the Bernia mountains are beautiful and offer breathtaking views of inland valleys in one direction and the shore mountains, towns and ocean on the other. The walk to the fortress gives you both from an amazing height. The Real de Bernia extends the view letting you look back at the mountain you just climbed while having a delicious lunch.

Maybe if more people frequented the place it would pick up. A case of chicken and egg perhaps?
