    after over 10 years with this payroll company, i closed my business after 30m years in business. i…read morecalled in to let them know i was retiring and was closing my business. the employee was not trained to instruct me on procedure. (email as well as forms to be filled out for proper closure}. i recieved delinquent notices and was told to mail a closure letter to edd which i did. another notice recently came. i called and was told they emailed (never received) and called me at the business that was already closed. the action taken was shut down due to inactivity. no further contact came including a letter to the business. i now was told a power of attorney was needed to be initiated and they could not help me. i am now having to go to my cpa at my expense to ensure proper procedure is followed. the employees are inefficient and not properly trained to ensureall edd prodical is followed . i would not recommend this company. poor communication!!!!!!!!!!

    After Payroll People, Inc. took over our payroll service from Payality in 2025, their system…read moreprocessed 3 payments to a former employee even though we had already terminated him and notified them in writing months earlier. They withdrew over $800.00 in unauthorized wages and associated taxes from our business account. We were assured a reversal had been submitted, but the reversal never happened and the funds were not returned. Their only proposed resolution was to issue service credits instead of a refund, which did not fix the incorrect IRS and California EDD filings or the increased tax liability created for our former employee. Both we and the BBB have received no response from the company, leaving us no option but to report the matter to the IRS and EDD. Unreasonable billing practices and failure to refund client money are not acceptable from a payroll provider.
